You know this whole when they release crap, is really up in the air because we live in serious dystopian times, where you have companies, like Facebook, who have enough market capital to afford paying 10,000 employees, $100,000 a year, for 40 years straight and never even go out of business.

And if don't think that is sick, take a look at the company we are waiting on: Apple. They don't have do lift one f)(|<!ng finger, for like 100 years, and instead of being like Facebook they actually make Billions per Year. So Apple is going to do wHaTeVeR little sweet happy good time production they are going to do with these macs.

And here is the kicker, they're going to take their sweet time, and make a nice little Jony Ive narrated video of the manufacturing of the product. They love this crap.

But the main point is, these companies are so large they're not going out of business anymore. Truly dystopian times.

You'll take your Windows 10 and your updates and you'll like it, and you will all upgrade to Windows 10. OR
The Mac guys you'll have to wait on your precious hardware that you crave, that you know will t least run macOS.

They don't care anymore, we are past the web boom, and the app boom. It's the Corp Doom Era...

I mean think about this, they are going to give us a MASS PRODUCT ITEM. Item's they deem are ok for consumers to purchase and get general use from. There are no more days where "we", the public, are going to have LATEST AND GREATEST TECH. THEY are going to play with the gear first and then ship later.

It's over now days, we get the lame chips when it comes to HEAVY LIFTING, and SERIOUS PROCESSING, and they're gonna charge us too, all the companies will.

Think about this we should have Mac Pros with 2 CPUs 8 cores each for 16 cores with 16 virtual (32 total) for $3000. SERIOUSLY.

But we are not, we are all getting priced out! Because manufacturing should have gotten cheaper and easier etc.
Because see most of us, we all payed our DAMN DUES to Motorola, Intel, and even Apple, but with 30 years worth of CPUs and machines we are getting nothing.

So why are machines STILL so damn expensive. CONTROL. It's like right when the power of the CPUs and Multiple Core machines, started kicking in they were like WHOOA WHOOA WHOA WHOA WHOA. Ok that's enough giving them the goods we gotta just make these systems STANDARD and AVERAGE, and keep the price around the same.

I mean really come on guys there's a big difference between a computer NOW and 7 years ago, and 7 years ago to 15 years ago was insane! But the last 3 years it's not that big a deal we're getting 5% 10% 15% increases better to better.

The only place we have closest space for is in Video Cards. We get to wait and HOPE we get a better video chip, because they are the only thing that is increasing in speed substantially, that we can/could benefit from directly. But look at the PC side now days?!?! It's ridiculous over there too!

Back in the day (5 years ago) it's like PC cards (Video Cards) for PCs were $100. Mac cards were like $350 $500...

Now they are going so far as to have PC Videos Cards for $500! Now that may make me sound crazy, and not to mention Video cards for $1,000 but PC Video Cards used to be $40, or $110 for like top of the line or 6 months old.

But they're like oh no we cornered the market and for some reason guys will pay $600 for NVIDIA, and then 6 months later pull the NVIDIA, sell it for $300 on eBay and then drop $700 again and put the newer card in and repeat.

I look at that as crazy, we're NOT GETTING SPEED INCREASES, that warrant:

WAITING FOR THE NEXT VIDEO CARD
or
WAITING FOR THE NEXT CPU increased MAC.

This waiting is INSANE. Get something and just do something.

But that's the Dystopian Nightmare.

The companies LOVE people WAITING DOING NOTHING, browsing the internet, chatting socializing, bitching making rumors, waiting, and then MAD DASH SCRAMBLE PURCHASE, and then what?

I want the NEXT NEW THING or NEW ONE!

Now I know most of you on here aren't going to be that bad as to want a newer mac right after, because I know you guys have some serious work and things you want to do with our MACS, and we are all going to dig in and work/hibernate for the next 3 years until the next one.

But damn it's like those two old fashioned saying, that go:

They gotcha by the balls!
and
That's how they get ya...

We're all locked in. Does it suck? It's a Dystopian Nightmare...

I disagree. One wrong decision, or one new invention can spell the end of a company. Big titan companies fall and it doesn't even take a blink for that to happen. Where's Nokia, RIM? The only reason MS and Apple have survived for so long is due to the fact that they were the only 2 major commercial providers of a user friendly OS. The day someone comes out with a better OS, better phone, or heck even a new technology...be prepared to see the end of these companies.

Did you even read my post? I phrased it specifically so that you couldn't respond with this nonsense. ..
Please don't be rude :), smile

in short for you:
13" MBP --> 2 Cores == XPS 13 --> 2 Cores
15" MBP --> 4 Cores == XPS 15 --> 4 Cores

in short for you:
13" MBP --> 2 Cores == XPS 13 --> 2 Cores
15" MBP --> 4 Cores == XPS 15 --> 4 Cores

No rudeness intended, just frustration.

And are you sure you're comparing the same things? there's a huge difference between a 15W chip and a 28W chip, as is there between a 45W laptop chip and a 91W desktop chip.

the XPS13 runs a 15W chip. The MBP probably won't.

The iPhone 7 won't sell...wait, what? You obviously must have missed basically everything MacRumors has written about the iPhone 7 during the last few days.
i said for upcoming year...after the holidays, the iphone 7 will sell even worse than 6s from January to September. So they need the revenue from the upcoming Macs

To those who don't like what I write here: Take it as one more message to get at 1000 pages ;)

There seem to be 2 camps: The hardcore Apple supporters who insist on using CPUs with Iris GPU for the MacBook Pros and the others who think the normal 2-core or 4-core CPUs would be OK when supported by a dedicated GPU. I'm belonging to this latter camp, as I have an ASUS Zenbook 13" with Nvidia 840 and a new ASUS Zenbook Pro 15" with an Nvidia 960. Both are running well with the current Windows 10 version and I didn't notice any lags at all. On the other hand both run games much better than their MacBook counter parts. The only argument I could accept against the non-Iris variant is some impact on Battery life, but I have no means to test this. For me the battery life is no issue as long as it is close to 5 hours

It's actually almost entirely due to a stock problem. Shortages of the dual camera.
Investors are going to get a nasty surprise. Especially with Apple not giving launch numbers. (Which they said themselves was due to stock issues. But everyone ignored that...)

T-Mobile and Sprint said that pre-orders were almost four times as great as for previous models. AT&T and Verizon said that the number of pre-orders exceeded their expectations.
I don't see where the nasty surprise comes in. They don't announce weekend sales numbers for the very reason that demand is higher than supply due to stock problems and the numbers would only be unrepresentative. They sell out no matter how many they produce. So, no one ignored that...

Hopefully we see some references to the new macbook pros and it's features (like oled bar, thunderbolt 3, specific GPUs) buried deep within the code of Sierra.

hehe i prefer the bodybuilder invite :D

by the way this was the invite sent for Oct/16 event 2014.. it was sent on Oct/8 just after iPhone 6 event

really! "been way too long" ?? how about this time o_O
This is the reason why i am still on this thread
The Sarcasm here just makes my day

Wow - this thread is now up to 24600 odd posts. I remember when it started - when I got my 15" MBPr back in late 2013. This is a Haswell machine and Apple has never moved on from Haswell on the 15". That blows my mind.
How ***** useless is Apple?
i got my alienware with haswell in june-13
and when i see apple is still lingering on haswell
its damn disappointing

Like three generations old design, removing useful ports for no good reason and barely even catching up to the competition?

Seems about the same to me.

So it seems you are privy to information about sales that no one outside of Apple are. You are purely speculating with no factual basis like numbers. You must have missed the news that several US carriers are reporting much higher sales of the 7 vs the 6S so far. I, on the other hand, will wait for the sales figures to be released then spreading the normal doom/gloom with no basis.

I just realized that the funny thing is phones get hardware upgrades all the time while in all honesty we don't really need them - don't know about you, but I stopped being amazed 3/4 years ago after high DPI screens).

On the other hand, Macs, which are work machines ( if you're a hipster using a Mac "just because", frankly you're a tool ) , are always underpowered and overpriced. The upgrade road these last years has been particularly disastrous.
Funny that I'm stuck with them, exactly like my colleagues warned me back in the days.

For the first time in iPhone history, I wont upgrade to a new one after a 2 year cycle. My iPhone 6 64GB is speedy enough and 64GB was the right choice, enough free space.
And I want to hold my money, no penny for Apple unless they release a serious MBP.

As someone who has never really followed an Apple MBP release before (but I've been following this one for 7 or 8 months now) how likely is it the new MBP will actually come out in October? How does the amount of leaks/rumors compare to releases in the past? I mean, it just seems like after the disappointment most recently in September the hype just shifted to October without any new information coming out. Should there be more signs pointing to the release? I'm really starting to think it won't be until 2017. Pls no. :(

A colleague just came into the office and asked if we had seen that the new MBPs were out. Apparently she had just seen them "on the Apple website" and was going to buy one in rose gold. I was flabbergasted that after following every rumour and this forum for six months she had happened upon the release before me.

Until I worked out that she didn't know that the MacBook even existed and saw it and thought it was the new MBP.

About two minutes of excitement, then back to the forum...

It's pretty likely that some Apple laptop with TouchID and the Touch Bar will be out next month. October is traditionally their "Mac event" month, and Mark Gurman who is very reliable is predicting it. Sierra also has references to the Touch Bar, and we have that case leak from June. All the evidence is there. There was never any evidence for Mac announcements for the past two events.

Of course, if Apple decided to skip Skylake, we may just get MBAs with the above instead.

See what happens. But, if they are released in a month, they have to be SkyLake processors as I don't see any Kaby Lake processor out right now that Apple would deemed worthy to put in the 13 inch MBP.

Exactly. This is confirming what we already knew. Skylake MBPs are coming in October. The same plan that we have been expecting all summer. No one credible ever said or believed that Kaby Lake MBPs were coming any time soon.

"Chowdhry continued that the new Macs are just entering production and should launch in the third week of October. The computer will be "significantly refreshed" with a redesigned keyboard. Meanwhile, initial indications suggest the new computer "will have a strong demand."
If that isn't just click bait BS shouldn't we expect blurry pics from the production line really soon. I'm getting quite hopeful.
