Here we go again, I will wait for future revisions and (please) price drops...
Right now I'm operating on the hope that the sales numbers for these new MBP's are terrible, and Apple releases the next Kaby Lake version at a cheaper price fairly quickly.
64GB? why the heck would anyone need 64GB? That sounds crazy for even the most intensive applicationsThe 16GB RAM limit from early 2011 is getting a bit old when PC´s do 64GB already..
If you change every ≈4years you might still be using 16GB in early 2021..
A decade with out improvement..
The removal of the card reader sucks as well, but guess that won't come back ever again.
Probably cost Apple to much money in lost storage upgrades.
I rather buy a cheap SD card for storage of random documents than spend $500 to upgrade the Apple SSD..
I thought the 2011 MBP supported up to 16GB, but not as a BTO option since it had user replaceable RAM. I might be wrong, though, but if I'm not that would be even funnier. Wait, did I say funny? I meant sad.My early 2011 MacBook Pro has 16 GB ram. And the ram is the only bottleneck I have in performance. Sad to see that I cannot really upgrade the performance of my early 2011 Macbook, in late 2016. Not even for 2 800 USD...
It happened with the original Retina. $1699 in Oct. 2012, new version March 2013 was slashed to $1499 (and even lower over time, I believe the base model was $1299 in 2015).Right now I'm operating on the hope that the sales numbers for these new MBP's are terrible, and Apple releases the next Kaby Lake version at a cheaper price fairly quickly.
Ha ha, you guys nearly got me. Why get this model when I could wait for the Kaby Lake refresh in March?
But then I remembered - anticipation of the March event followed by disappointment, then anticipation of WWDC followed by disappointment, then disbelief that it could drag out all the way to November...
Nope, got to get off the bus sometime. My order is in for the 2016 MBP.
Ha ha, nice burn. But no, I don't actually expect to be disappointed with my new MBP, I expect to love it.Should a company which continues to disappoint, really get your money?

Here here Kaby Lake has too many benefits. Will wait. A 13" MBP with Kaby Lake is a good 5 year investmentI'm with you there. Cancelled the 2016 and ordered a refurb Quad 2015 until then.

I honestly may not even upgrade to Kaby if it comes out. Because aside of needing a Quad core, I need ports! So a Kaby Lake processor wont do me much better when I'm still stuck with 4 USB-C ports that I have to find adapters/hubs for. Here here Kaby Lake has too many benefits. Will wait. Just saw this article and thought people would find it interesting....

Yeah, I don't know if they'd update it so quickly after rolling out the skylake models, and you're spot on, that the iMac has yet to be updated.Oh sweet summer children, expecting new MBP by march. I wouldn't hold my breath for at least a year, by the looks of their latest updates.
They have not yet updated other models.
I miss those days. I'm thinking about going to 32GB in my work iMac but I might be due for an upgrade next year anyway so we'll see. That is correct, with third party RAM you could go up to 16GB with that model.
