OP hasn't realised Kaby Lake CPU's for MBP's will be released loooong time after the first Kaby Lakes, so don't expect anything for MBP's until 2017 summer. I made my move 2 months ago, bought a tower and couldn't be happier, just came here to see how almost 800 pages of Skylake were reached.

When the new MBP ships in october it will be over 6 months.

Still. Dont you see the frustrating part about this? Do you not agree that the problem is not about that they should use kaby lake or not. Its about apple being late in the game over and over again. And People are starting to think "does this old Tech value the Premium price". When apple release the MBP with skylake. Skylake will be old news.. Even thou the right Kaby Lake is not ready. The point is the right Skylake is OLD
And when did polaris launch? June? not exactly old...
Apple could of launched the 13" but the 15" no

They could announce it in WWDC like they did with Mac Pro, and then release it when they have enough yeld for customers. That way they would make people "happy" despite not having the product in their hands yet, and if it was older when it was finally available, it would be due to "yeld issues", not like now that it feels like they have no reason to wait and people starts thinking they are becoming lazy.

And releasing a product that could have issues is ok with you? How could they release something that has parts coming out a week after the event?
Pushing something out there to just do it is one thing but a lot more goes into things.

Well played.

So I'm sure Apple has something in the pipeline for some time in the distant future but I'm happy I gave up on the waiting for Tandy 386 discussion and bought a 15" Pro AMD from B&H - was about $400 cheaper than Apple Store at the time when factoring price and no tax. Might not have a touch panel bar or whatever is rumored but it's fast enough for anything I need it to do and it's sitting in my house which is better than any rumored computer can say.

Think I'm going to wait for Kaby Lake now too. Paying full price for a Skylake laptop around September/October just doesn't seem reasonable to me.

If you check intel website 28W Skylake is not even available, only announced. So why are people expecting Kaby Lake? Makes zero sense.

First of all, I was saying "announce", not "release", like they did with Mac Pro 2013 (thing I already said in the other post). Plus it's not a matter anymore if we care about a finished product or not, Apple stopped launching "finished" products/OS a long time ago.

They could announce it in WWDC like they did with Mac Pro, and then release it when they have enough yeld for customers.

Second, which parts exactly were out a week after the event? 15" MBP's processors, the only part that make Apple held the MBP line, were available various weeks before the event, if they couldn't release it on WWDC was due to not having enough yeld to supply to all customers, but there was no reason not to announce it, unless Apple didn't want to/was late to the party not having their job done yet (designing, prototyping, all that stuff). And if it's the case, customer might start thinking Apple is not giving any f*** about MBPs, they already had more than 4 years to think and work out a new design.

The Mac Pro announcement you're referring to in 2013 was literally the only time since Steve Jobs came back in 1997 when Apple did such a thing. They're standard MO is to announce something and then release it within a few weeks if not immediately. I doubt we'll ever see them do something similar for their computer lineup again, especially in these times of relatively meager processor power improvements over prior generations and a declining computer market overall.

when can we expect for the Kaby Lake MBP? 2017 summer?
and for cannonlake? 2018? What are the advantages of getting cannonlake? I know one of it is single stich 5k display.

It is pin compatible with skylake, so properly a silent update/press release in march or at WWDC 2017.

In general therms, only a 10% increase in IPC (which we will see which % of real performance increase will be, but for sure not a 10%). Maybe bringing PCIe 4.0

Kaby Lake most likely no earlier than WWDC '17.

We don't know the release date of KBL-H GT4 so 15" MBP might be preorder only.

We can expect Kaby Lake in the new MBP. Next year, they're gonna get Kaby Lake S, followed by Kaby Lake Plus and then Kaby Lake SE. Cannonlake will be delayed indefinitely.

This is an honest question from someone not reading all Intel architecture roadmaps and stuff.

What benefit has Kaby Lake considering that I alwazs would choose a dedicated GPU.
Correct me if I'm wrong but Kaby Lake has native TB3 and USB-C 3.1.

If I do not care about external 4k support over TB3 the improvements over Skylake are minimal.
Is this correct?
