I want to know if they are going to bump up the resolution any time soon or are going to make changes to the display.
The point of a Retina screen is to make the pixel pitch so small that you can't see any finer resolution (at a normal distance). So while they may someday make higher-resolution screens for the MBP, it won't make a lot of difference.

It would make more difference to have a wider color gamut (the 2016s are already wider than before at P3). But I doubt that will happen this year. The next target would be rec. 2020, which is what UHD HDR TVs will be aiming for too.

I still wouldn't be surprised if they used 5 mins at the WWDC in June to say there updating the processors in the MBP line,
If anything, it will be a silent update. I don't think we'll see any hardware announcements at WWDC, just because Apple has focused on software these past few years for WWDC

MBP 2016 is probably the worst reviewed product since Steve Jobs came back to Apple. Apple maps was badly reviewed as well but that seems to have been fixed or exec responsible for that fired.

Apple would be sending the wrong message this time if they let the current mbp with its 16gb ram limitation, mediocre battery life and nasty keyboard continue through the year

I would be surprised if it goes beyond June without an update [but I also thought we would see new iMacs and macpro's by now so what do I know....]. Silent update is probably most likely.
As you say RAM limit increase, Kaby lake, possible battery increase. For me the 'nasty' keyboard is great - I swap between a 2016 13" and a 2014 15" and much prefer the 2016 every time. However, the Magic Keyboard is the most joy to use, and would be more than happy to see that implemented into the MBP.

No question, this laptop was received so negatively, but if Apple is making any money on it, I'm not sure if they'll update it so soon

While your statement is certainly true, I have to wonder what Apple has been doing.
There has been very little functionality added to iOS, document sharing between Apps is a shame, multi-user support and a "Home Folder" is against Apples principle.
I would like to hand my iPad or iPhone to someone, he clicks on "Nee Profile", can show me an online document, look up a phone number and call someone, or anything similar.
Docunents and Media Libraries have to be tied to a user without the strong coupling of iCloud because it just isn't practical to use today. Data is duplicated to App sandboxes, cannot be partially viewed or streamed.

In short: I could come up with twenty really useful ideas that would not require SD cards, external storage or other phantasies, but Apple has in fact done nothing to make an iPad Pro even remotely user friendly.

Sorry for the long rant.

PS: I really believe Apple has problems hiring software developers because of their strict policies.
Everyone wanting to work for Apple has to virtually disappear from any public developer conmubity.

The mythology lives on. Some people naturally confuse angry bloggers who didn't get what they wanted with real reviewers. Most of the reviews were fine. And so is the battery life for all but the 13" with touch bar. And the keyboard remains popular. And sales are good. Funny how the internet works, and doesn't.

And most of the bloggers are by and large happy with it.

Sales are are only fine if you count the 2015 +2016 models together. The 2016 can't even sell as many as the 2015 the year before and people were holding out for it. Most reviews call's it the gimmick bar, because it is. Funny how the internet works, and doesn't.

More mythology. What source do you have? Anonymous people some blogger claims know their stuff?

Your words are not any less mythology than his. Please stop. Have sources - give them. Don't have - just say that you think it's his opinion and that your opinion differs. Your opinions are quite equally sourced atm.

Nonsense. My sources are Apple, reviews, comments and polling here and elsewhere. If you're in doubt about something I've said, be specific.

I wonder when we'll get some details of the Coffee Lake chips. I've heard rumours of a U-class quad core and an H-class hexacore - that could make it worth holding on for the 4th 14 nm iteration...

I've said already: you have not provided any more sources than the one you claim speaks of mythology. Please provide sources.
P. S. Apple itself is a biased source. Especially considering their stance on Mac Pro up until recent press conference.

Again, sources for what? What, again, are you in doubt about? Again, be specific, don't just vaguely wave your hands. When I get back tonight, I'll explain whatever specific things you don't know about.

Thanks, when you get back tonight please explain nothing (as I know everything necessary) and provide sources to prove your mythology.

So not objective facts as you continually beat over my head with. Basically you're engaging in propagating in a mythology (your words)

When I linked to reviews and blogs you were quick to dismiss them and called my actions dishonest yet its ok for you to use reviews and comments to support your position.
