Had to wait two weeks 4 my 13" 2 b delivered but I can't wait for the next incremental iteration of this since you can't keep up with their update pattern.

Once they went on the "SLIM" path, can't expect too much battery. Performance, maybe. Rest assured, it'll be another power bank, Apple branded, to help you thru the day :)

Only the 15" MBP will be updated at WWDC, the 13" MBP will be updated in the fall since the dual core for the 13" canon lake will be available then

Coffee Lake might be coming in the fall, but not Cannonlake. Intel has said the earliest Cannonlake processors will release "by the end of 2017" but those will probably be desktop models, and may even get pushed back to 2018. I believe we'll see a Cannonlake MBP in March 2018 at the earliest. So if they're going to put Kaby Lake in the 13", now would be the time..

*However, I notice there's still no shipping delay for the 13", so hmm..

yes, because the 13" will be updated with CL in fall. I suppose the 15" would adopt CL too but the chips for that will be not ready until 2018 so Apple prefer to update now the 15" with KL

Any opinions about 32GB? I presume yes, they probably want to avoid the same kind of feedback
The main problem is "what kind of ram?"
Kabylake i7s support up to 64gb of ram, but there's not LOW POWER ddr4 support (don't know it them even exist at the moment, LPDDR4 i mean).
They could go with 32gb of lpddr3-2133mhz but you know, people think that because it doesn't carry ddr4 it is an already obsolete product, not even if the difference between ddr4-2400 and LPDDR3-2133 is minimal in real world...

It seems like shortages are starting for MBP 13 inch. Checked the situation in NYC and you cannot pickup in most of the stores in there. BUT when is it available? On 5th of June. Why would they make it available on the 5th when there is keynote on that day in the morning. They cannot be the refreshed ones I guess. I would be so mad if they only refresh 15 inch and not 13 inch and rMb as well.

it would be very strange to update the 13" to KL and then, after 4 months to update it again with CL

if i recall correctly it's already happened something like that, with the introduction of the 13" unibody macbook pros.
they updated the 15" macbook pro (early 2009) and then update all the line again in june (mid2009).
the situation was a little different tho: the macbook pro 13 existed before but was not tagged as "pro" it was the unibody aluminium 13" macbook, the pro line had 3 sizes and they used the june event to normalize the cpu situation for all the line.

I think people were saying that regarding the 2016 MBPs and Kaby Lake. I dunno, we'll see what next week brings and maybe this is the new apple.

But will the new Coffee Lake CPUs with Iris be available by the end of the year? With KB they were only available a few months after the "standard" CPUs with HD graphics. So maybe they'll release the new MBP with CL in 2018 and not this year.

Exactly, there won't be a Coffeelake or Cannonlake 13" in 2017. Spring 2018 is a better bet.

There are still no shipping delays for the 13" however, so who knows.

I don't think this will be the case, it would make sense for the 13" to be updated with the 15". It would be worth waiting for the Coffee Lake update if they went with the quad-cores for the higher models.

I don't think there's any shortages of the current 13" MacBook Pro. I just think they pulled them due to the imminent arrival of the 2017 version. If they were selling the 2016 13" MacBook right now in mass, how many of those sales would come back for a refund in the next 14 days. Probably a good 90% of them. Then Apple would be scrambling to credit people for their 2016 purchase and resell them a new 2017 MacBook. I know if I bought a new MacBook and they released an updated version a few days later, I'd hightail it back to my local Apple store and exchange it for the newer version. Wouldn't you? With that being said, I absolutely believe there will be a new Kaby Lake 13" released next week. Along with an updated 15", it's the right business move for Apple.

Eh? The first Cannonlake processors will be the smallest/low power members of the line up not the largest, most high power.

The are the first products on the 10nm process and smaller dies are going to lead to substantially better yields. One of the primary reasons why there is a CoffeeLake release is because the mid-large size dies are going to slide out in time. That's why Intel needed yet another place holder before transitioning to 10nm.

Older roadmap from a while back from earlier macrumors article. (intel has shifted a bit from these timelines)

Coffee Like is being pulled back into 2017 but CannonLake never was in the H (large laptop) or S category before 2H 2018. Just getting yields on Y (Core M) and mainstream U processors is going to be a challenge.
Plus Intel is going to be feeling alot of heat from both ARM on Windows and AMD by Fall in that mainstream laptop market window.

and may even get pushed back to 2018. I believe we'll see a Cannonlake MBP in March 2018 at the earliest. So if they're going to put Kaby Lake in the 13", now would be the time..

Probably not. The upper end of the U class with GT3e graphics (which is what the MBP 13"uses ) is still projected to be CoffeeLake for a while. The Macbook and perhaps MBA are best candidates for CannonLake.

With over $250bn cash reserves, I fail to see why Apple would be 'scrambling' to credit people; but I get your point. I hope that they update all three products (rMB, 13" & 15" MBP) seems as though CPU's are available to do so. All current stock will probably be swallowed by B2B resellers at a discount.

I can buy a 13" today in New York and either pick it up today or have it delivered as soon as tomorrow. Not so with the 15". Maybe the rumors about no updates or upgrades to the 13" are real. I'll set my expecations to that fact, anyway, and hope to be pleasantly surprised. What a bummer.

If no updates, no kaby lake, no terraced battery, no keyboard fix, I hope there's at least a price cut.

Matte?
The only good matte thing would be the anti-glare screen. Truly one of the best features we've seen on the MBP.
The days of matte screens are long gone, and we'll never see them from apple again. I've long gotten used to the glossy displays at this point
