While it would be disappointing to not see Coffee Lake powered Macs at WWDC, it means there's a higher chance of substantially better GPUs and a fixed keyboard being included in this year's update.

EDIT: This is coming from someone doing daily post-production work on a Mid 2010 MBP.

This is so disappointing. From last 2 Months, I have been anticipating for the new MBP and now this. Really disappointing cause I need a new laptop ASAP. My current laptop is not in best conditions.

I'll be buying after WWDC but later down the year there's a new one and I'll be missing out on it.

Disappointed!

Wow, I really hope that isn't the case. I've been waiting a long time (as I know many of you have), but this is my first MBP and I specifically waited until June for it given the rumors. I know we can never be certain, but my current laptop is and old Vaio that is on it's last legs big time, I'm not sure I would be able to wait until fall for a new MBP.

I'm using MacBook Air Mid-2012 and story is the same. It's in last legs and won't be able to wait until fall.

But rumours at this time are supposed to be correct and that too when it comes from Bloomberg. Unbelievable!

Ok, so if this is true and there is no MBP until the fall that would be another massive time gap for Apple with updating the hardware. However the bigger concern that I have is that if they are released later this year and nothing has been done to the keyboards in terms of a redesign that is a bigger problem.

Hopefully IF there is nothing released this would signal a bigger change than just a spec bump. Heck, maybe Apple would still announce the changes coming but not release until the fall like they did with the iMac Pro?

Ok I just checked Apple.com and ALL of the lead times for the MacBook Pros now show being available. It used to have several of them listed as being available later next week, now they are showing available to deliver tomorrow, even the low end models. I think something changed and they are continuing with what they have now.

All customized options are still showing anywhere from June 6-14th for me.

Suppose Apple adds the Notch to the MacBook Pro? Its not impossible; remember early beta versions of OS X placed the Apple logo at the center of the global menu bar.

In fact, they could restore some of the NeXTStep functionality by creating a vertical floating global menu bar. Its just the wasted space it would introduce. Then again, they could make it autohide and it would certainly make the macOS UI more optimized for touch, if they ever added support.

The customized options always had, or close to, a few days lead time. Even lead times of a week or more have been common. However this last week the basic stock models all had dates of June 7th. That changed to now being available.

Yes, but when people run apps full screen, the notch can't just disappear. There's no point to it on anything other than a phone (and it's not great on that).

Gurman's story comes as no surprise, given the complete lack of rumours up to this point.

Well, this suggest they are likely making significant changes to the design, probably the keyboard. The backlash against the failing keyboards has been quite vocal with class action lawsuits in the works.

Glad I got my brother his 2017 back in March; he's quite happy with it. This could suggest the engineers are probably be reallocated to other projects such as the ARM MacBook. This has always been how the company does hardware.

Also happy I got my iPad Pro 12.9 when I did.

Yep, gotta be the keyboard.

I bet they were ready to roll, then the lawsuit and bad publicity and they decided they can't release an update without fixing the keyboard all the way.

Oh well. Looks to be the most boring Keynote in history...

Pulled at the last minute as they previously were going to release new models without a fix to the keyboard which, given recent events, is no longer an option?

Possibly or they could of planned for updates later in the year all along, Mac’s use to get updated at October events. The last October event was the 2016 MacBook Pro redesign we could see a Mac focused event in October of this year after the September event which will have new iPhones and a new Series 4 Apple Watch, my guess is the following:

WWDC - software only
September - iPhone and Apple Watch Series 4
October - Mac and possibly iPad Pro

I doubt recent events have been severe enough to have much of an influence. They're also too late. If Apple were/are releasing on Monday then the units would have had to be in production for some time already. And they've known about the keyboard for at least 18 months already, so it's a bit weird if that's' the sole cause of the delay.

Yikes, that’s terrible news.. must be one boring keynote we can expect next week.. I think it’s absolutely unacceptable from Apple’s point of view to be waiting 500+ days for an updated macbook pro. What year are we, 2002?

Damn, that's disappointing if it's true. I'm just about to take a few months out to work on a personal project and I need to buy a MacBook Pro. I really, really don't want to buy one of the current models. :(

I don’t think it’s to do with keyboard - I don’t think Apple planned to release anything WWDC for the MacBook Pro.

We could still end up with a refreshed MacBook without a fixed keyboard in October - I think that’s a real possibility.

I just don’t think enough resources/R&D has been assigned to the MacBook team as a priority.
