Ugh. Don’t think my 2012 MBA can last much longer. Service Battery indicator is on. Charging cable is starting to fray. And I’m totally sick of using my 12.9” iPP as my main device. General everyday use is much slower and so inefficient without a cursor/trackpad.
Honestly don’t know what I’m going to do.
I am on the same boat. With my 2011 mbp dead 5 months ago, I resort to my 2011 mba and waited through April and now June just to see Apple not delivering a decent MBP.
As a mac user for almost 20 years, I cant believe I am back to 3rd party hardware with a mac os slapped onto it. Tough choice but it is what has to be done.

now I just hope Apple quietly reduces the price.
If they wait until they have new hardware that's another few months of pricing based on a more profitable exchange rate. I might be cynical, but I that's my prediction (though if you are listening Apple, feel free to prove me wrong, I won't hold it against you).

Let's all get ready for another 200 pages of discussion and speculation before we get the 2018 MBPs, lol.

Honestly I don't actually think the keynote was that terrible, it's just a shame that we didn't get any new hardware. If you look at the software-side of things, then there was actually some great stuff.

Grouped notifications has been a request for years now since they inexplicably removed it in iOS 9 or so, and it's looking great. FaceTime group calls similarly have been a request since the inclusion of FaceTime back in Steve Jobs times, and it's finally there and on both Mac and iOS. People have been complaining about Siri's inabilities and lack of automated workflows since years now and it's finally a thing; you can assign her to do basically any automation flow you like using any trigger phase you like and seemingly from all your devices. In my eyes, that alone is big (even if not Google Home Assistant Levels of "big" – but it's a definite leap in the right direction).

The redesigned Mac App Store is also overdue since a while now, and getting the Home App for Mac is something I've been hoping for since... well, basically since we got Siri on the Mac, as there was never any good reason for why it shouldn't be on the Mac, it was just missing for now reason. Let's also not forget that the dark mode, as cheesy as it might have been, has been a request since essentially pre-OS X times 20 years ago, and it's finally a thing – that's another long-standing request that Apple finally gave in to.

If we had gotten some new MacBook Pros then that would have made the keynote great for me – as it stands, it was rather average. Some great new software features for Mac and iOS, but also some big disappointments, first and foremost (for me) the lack of any new hardware announcements.

AAPL was $193 in the beginning of the keynote, now down to $191.6.
Not dramatic, because most of the investors don't understand technology and can't judge the keynote.

Looks like it’ll be a new iPhone, Apple Watch and MacBook Pro all in one update in a couple of months. Nice.

Happy to wait a few more months if it means we get better hardware for it. Because let’s face it, if they had delivered an update now most would moan about the specs anyway.

I thought they'd bump the specs of the Pros to Kaby Lake refresh. Not making any mention means that most of the competition is using 8th generation Intel, while Apple wallows in 7th. Hard to justify buying a new mac at this point.

Also an interesting tidbit towards for all the people saying the Touch Bar is dead and will be dropped: Apple actually mentioned the ability to put Automator shortcuts in the Touch Bar in Mojave. It might not be an overwhelming new feature but it's a step in the right direction, and also a sign that the Touch Bar is here to stay.

Now if they only add some more BetterTouchTool-ish customization options to it...

I really want a MacBook Pro now it’s going to make it really hard to stomach 2800 dollars for a year old model. At least they could of done a price reduction.
i agree, hopefully it happens tonight, like a silent update!

Something is going on... I think something slipped in the last month and they delayed the refresh.. Either that or they'll do it via a press release or something.

I doubt that they'll do a October event for both iPads & Macbooks.

Things are looking very weird due to the following reasons :

a) Airpower wasn't even mentioned.. Apple what the ????
b) Competition is already rocking 8th gen and the Quad Core i5 punches the current 13" in the face regarding multi threaded stuff.
c) No new SE or iPad? Are we rallying up for a 3 hour event in September or even a 2nd event come October?
d) So that's it? We missing Back to School in 2018 regarding Macs and iPads?...

I have no idea what the heck is going on over at Cupertino at this point tbh...
