I am bound to have missed multiple answers to this question in the 248 pages preceding this post but, can I ask this highly relevant question to you all, and ask you to answer it in the simplest form:

So when can we realistically expect to see the next 13-inch Macbook Pro with quad-core?

I would appreciate the simplest answer, say, for example, "October 2018".

Many thanks,

Currently, I can get refurbished MBP 15 for $2100 on Apple.com. Are the prices going to be higher for new 2018 MBP modals as well. Or they are going to reduce the 2017 modals and keep the price same for new modals?

Many thanks,

Apparently it is this year, I’m saying October this year.

According to some, we're going to see MBPs, iPhones, iPads, Watches, AirPower, and iMacs all in the fall. Apple seems to have moved toward an "all hardware at the end of year" policy. So September or a separate Mac event in October or a silent update around that time are all possible.

They're going for that trillion dollar valuation by Q4 end.

I read that Apple once used back to school promos to blow-out old hardware, making way for refreshes in the Fall. Maybe they are trying to return to that cadence?

If Apple chooses to perform a silent update (or a "press release" update), it could happen at any time. If they host an event to introduce refreshed Mac hardware (which would almost certainly include a quad-core 13" MBP), it will most likely be in October of this year.

The reason for choosing October is if the hardware were ready to launch this month or next, it likely would have been announced at WWDC. August and September are unlikely, because Apple doesn't want anything distracting from the launch of new iPhones (Apple's main money maker). October is after the new iPhones have been revealed and likely gone on sale, and just barely in time to offer up new Mac hardware to holiday buyers.

I’ve just picked up my custom made 13” TB from the store today, now I’m not joking when I say the keyboard feels different... like I’ve just a 2017 one for a little bit prior to this (work)

And this one right here, definantly feels different, I’m getting more travel, or am I just overthinking?! Haha

I also think that there’s more travel! So you’re not alone. I tried the TB MBPs for the longest time. I actually prefer the new keyboards to my 2015 already. But y’know that’s if it doesn’t break. :p

Yes, it does have more travel. When I was planning to buy an MBP earlier this year, I had my eyes set on an early 2015. But when I checked out the 2017 at the store, I was actually pleasantly surprised. Its not like the 2015, but the travel is satisfactory in comparison to the 2016. The 2016 felt like you were typing on a desk. You get some travel with it. Whatever Apple is doing for the 2018, it will definitely be further improvement.

I don't think the issue for many owners of the 2016/2017 was really the travel - yes, it on the list, its actually the failure rate of the keyboard.

Question

Is it really crazy to believe that the Base Model 2018 Macbook Pro is going to have 16GB of RAM?

I personally think that it is not. It is about time that the MBPs are going to start with 16GB of RAM!
Edit: Especially now that they pushed the update to (probably) October 2018.

Yes. And the problem with that is that you can forget about new MBPs this year.

Wait, do you mean that if redesigned macbook pros are coming, they are not coming this year?

What is going to be the starting price of 2018 MBP 15" models? Are they going to keep it the same as 2017 (and reduce 2017 modals) or will they increase? Any guesses from the history of Apple / MBPs?

Apple’s tendency is to have the default ‘value’ of the lineup set in USD, and then they price locally based on currency conversions, VAT, etc. Year-to-Year they typically keep the price points the same but offer some improvement to the hardware. Only time this tends to change is when they’re refreshing the lineup in a big way. While they quite like the 13” MacBook Pro to be ‘attached’ to the $1300 point, and they quite like the 15” MacBook Pro to be stuck to the $2000 point, there’s obviously room for a lot of different asking prices in there.

Myself...I’d be surprised if they kept the 2015-era 15” around again. Would not be surprised to see the new ‘entry’ 15” option replace it outright in both lineup position and price point. They sure are asking a pretty penny for the 2017 models...

Also... Once Apple puts the new one out, the prior year tends to disappear from Apple's sites -- third party retailers may offer deals on them, but it seems Apple also often winds down some of the stock so those deals may not last a long time. Plus if what you want is a custom config, you're typically SOL in finding that as a leftover. However the Apple refurb store is often a great choice

Would the other retailers bring down the prices for 2017 modals?
Ebay has some deals (no tax, free shipping) and brand new. Which brings down the price of 2017 MBP by $350 - $450. Not sure once 2018 modals are out, the prices go down further ?!?!

I wouldn't expect more discount; they'll sit on them until sold.

You do realize there's no guarantee of any 2018 models coming out, right?

What?!?! Did that ever happen with Apple?
Apple haven't released a 2018 model MBP even once in the entire history of the company, so obviously...

And by the logic of this forum, Apple can never do something they haven't done before. So logically there won't be any 2018 models at all.

What's the latest Mac Mini model? ;)
Keyboard problems there too presumably...

Edit: Shame with the mini really. It could be a pretty neat concept, and even better if it were even minier. Something that attaches to the back of any monitor and disappears. Wouldn't have to be very fast hardware, but something up to date and priced according to value would be nice. It's just not quite that right now.
