September event will be for iphones and apple watch and the October will be for the macs and ipads
After our disillusionment at WWDC I suspected that aswell, but an October release doesn't seem to fit that well into these new database model entries. Not only because new models in 95% of cases previously appeared weeks and not months after they found entry into the Eurasian database, but also because the listed OS (High Sierra) doesn't fit so well into an October release window as there'd be no reason for them not to ship with Mojave then.

On the other hand, it's hard to imagine new iPads with Face ID and without Home Button to be released without iOS 12, seeing as iOS 12 is pretty much necessary to control them without a Home Button as iOS 11 doesn't have the new gesture system for iPads yet. So I'm really not sure what to think. I mean this makes a pre-October release much more likely then we previously thought I suppose, but seeing new Macs and iPads before iOS 12 drops in September would be weird aswell, so I don't want to be too optimistic about this either.

So ipads iphones and apple watch in sept event, macbooks and imacs silent update if the imacs does not come with a redesign

Quote from the article:
It's also worth noting that Apple registered several new models of iPhone with the EEC back in April that have yet to appear, so extrapolating launch dates from the filing is particularly difficult.
So these filings don't automatically mean the new models will be launched before October.

That being said, if the leaked benchmark is authentic, I would expect it to be running an unreleased build of Mojave and not High Sierra.

Hence my "in 95% of cases" and not "in 100% of cases" ;)

I mean I'm not sure about the exact percentage of cases but in the overwhelming majority, these Eurasian codes seem to pre-date the actual release date by only a couple weeks, not by several months.

Well I gave up waiting and bought a fully loaded XPS 9570 to complement my no frills base 13" MBP. It's been flawless so far and is a real power house for a laptop. Still interested in a quad core 13" though, hopefully within the next couple of months.

Hmmm dunno. Touchbar not exactly a roaring success. I suspect it will be changed at least. Maybe made smaller, reorientated and stuck to side of trackpad as a scrubbing bar for example, since the people who do like seem to like this function.
Never gonna happen lol

Seems unlikely that Apple will hold products until October, I predict new ipads to be launched alongside iphones in September while the Macs may just get a press release since there isn't any redesign happening, or they could dedicate 10 minutes to it in the September keynote.

It might be speculation, but what if just technically impossible to make the keyboard that thin without any side effects like key sticking etc. What if is necessary to redesign the whole thing. I'm starting to believe that...

That is also speculation. Whether you decide to believe it has no basis in reality.

<snip>So now I need to start devoting some thought to this:

13" quad core to replace my 15" quad core.....
or 15" hex core to replace my 15" quad core

On one hand I do need CPU power often enough. On the flip side my 2014 15" is a pain in the ass to use in an airplane seat. Thoughts anyone ??

Think about now but also how your requirements may change over the next five years.

1) What are you GPU requirements? Big difference between Iris and Radeon. Do you currently have the integrated or discrete GPU on your 2014?

2) re: CPU, the new 13” quad core might be quite a bit faster than your 2014 15”, depending on whether you have the 2.2 or the 2.8GHz. Also, you may not gain much with 6 cores vs. 4 cores; it depends on the nature of your workload. If you can utilize the cores, you’ll be better served by the hexacore in the 15” than the 28W quad in the 13”.

3) There will probably be a pretty big difference in price, depending on the exact configs you might be considering.

4) The current 15” is slightly smaller than your 2014 model, but how much does it really bother you on the airplane? How often do you travel?

Not sure if you’re close to an Apple store and/or could take advantage of Apple’s return policy, but I’d probably give the 13” a go, then swap it for the 15” if it weren't sufficiently performant.

Even though I have a 2016 MacBook Pro, I think I would sell it and upgrade to the 2018 model if they fix the keyboard mechanism. I haven't actually had any keys get permanently stuck, but I can't afford to be without my computer for a week so hopefully the new model numbers signal fixed keys.

If the TouchBar was either gone or moved on these upcoming models we would already have seen the chassis via supply chain leaks (as we did when they added the TB). So that there have been no chassis leaks means they are identical to what we have now (with perhaps minor changes to allow easier keyboard swaps or a new keyboard mechanism).

All good points.
1. Not important to me (currently)
2. I have the 2.8GHz model. Yeah I can make use of cores in my own stats code, and that will save me considerable time.
3. Price is a factor for sure, but we will have to see on that one. If I get 15" will probably be lower spec 15" this time.
4. It actually bothers me alot on the plane. I go thru phases where I fly quite a bit, then maybe nothing. But I can get lots done on a plane not having the distractions of email or macrumours :)
5. I hate the TouchBar and would prefer not to have one.

Maybe we'll see updates of the Macbook Pros very soon. Here in Germany, all modells (13" and 15") are now showing wednesday, the 11. July as the shipping date. Also some store pickups slipped to this date, while they had been "today" or "tomorrow" in the last weeks. So a silent update on the next tuesday seems plausible now! :)

I don't think shipping times mean anything. But funnily enough I was thinking July 10th because it it 10th anniversary of the App store. But then again what does that have to do with macs ?

Absolutely nothing! But a milestone all the same. Would have been more worthwhile for a software upgrade at this date rather than a hardware one. I'm holding my breath again for the MBP 2018, as I have been since March and June...

Unfortunately I don't think the anniversary date has much more meaning in regards to the release of the new machines as Apple has never really timed new hardware to these dates or even marketed them es as such. Next Tuesday would be a nice surprise, but I also wouldn't be be too optimistic just because of the Eurasian listings. There could still be several weeks between them and the actual release.

In the Netherlands at Apple website everything not BTO is fully available including delivery tomorrow, unfortunately. Largest non-Apple online retailers have been out of certain models for at least two weeks. But since I didn't check before then I don't know whether there is a chance they are *always* out of certain models.

Same in Ireland. Even the BTO ones ship in 4 days which is actually better than usual. But like I sat doesn't mean a thing

UK is stating:

Delivers:
  • Sat 7 Jul – Fastest
  • Mon 9 Jul – Free
That’s for stock options though which are held in significant quantities in depots and won’t necessarily run low on stock (particularly if people have been spurred into not buying) - it’s the BTOs that slip most often (if at all) as they wind down the production lines so will take longer to procure these machines that they don’t tend to have huge numbers of in store. It’s 18th-20th for BTOs here, though I’m not sure that really means anything as @The Mercurian says, though.
