Suddenly, buying the 2018 model when it was $500 off didn't seem like a bad choice knowing you could potentially get one of these new keyboards should anything go awry.
Hindsight's a bitch.

They may just have the 16.5 mob at wwdcWow, I wasn’t expecting an update today. What happened to Ming Chi Kuos rumour/report of a 16” redesign, that guy is usually very accurate.
Well I guess it’s time to buy a new MacBook Pro![]()
They may just have the 16.5 mob at wwdc
Then update the other models with slimmer bezels later

What a slap in the face this joke of an update is.
Not sure why you would think that. You can even type in google “Surface Studio vs” and it will auto fill “iMac Pro”... They are both high end all-in-one machines with a target audience of professional users, specifically those in the design field. They definitely both have features that distance themselves from each other but at the end of the day, they go after very similar markets. I definitely agree that they are very different devices (surface studio is basically a giant drawing pad) but they definitely do compete for the same customers. So, I think it’s a good idea to keep the iMac Pro around and keep updating it.
everyone could make such an pred, get over it and stop flaming, no one cares. Wifi ax , i smiled when you thought thatSo I got it right almost a month ago on my prediction post for the new 15" MBP:
What I got right and what I didn't:
Display
15.4” IPS 2880x1800 P3 True Tone
500 nits(maybe 600 nits with HDR??)
Processor NEW!!
Core i7 6 core 12 threads i7-9750H

Core i7 6 core 12 threads i7-9850H
2.6 GHz (Turbo Boost 4.6 GHz) 12 MB cache
What we actually got instead:
Core i9 8 core 16 threads i9-9880H
2.3 GHz (Turbo Boost 4.8 GHz) 16 MB cache
I expected the top end i9 CPU but didn't expect them using the other i9 CPU i9-9880H but instead a second i7 CPU model.
Core i9 8 core 16 threads i9-9980HK

I expected Apple to release the 2019 15" model along the 2019 13" models but what I couldn't predict was Apple releasing the 15" so soon with a 13" 2019 MacBook Pro that's only using the already existing 8th gen Intel CPUs. This 13" model refresh is beyond ridiculous. At least we can all celebrate the new 4th gen butterfly keyboard.
And a till I was the only one who brought it up here instead of imaginary over the top expectations that others posted.everyone could make such an pred, get over it and stop flaming, no one cares. Wifi ax , i smiled when you thought that
[doublepost=1558468511][/doublepost]Now the question is, if the new material will keep the dust away, and if it will keep at least the same feeling as the 3d keyboard (maybe even better, but i doubt) or we are back on the same feeling as the 2016 ?!
If this is the only MBP update we get this year, then I actually feel fine about buying a 2018 model last year when it launched instead of waiting another year. It looks like I'll get the improved keyboard anyway (if I ever need to bring it in because of a keyboard failure), and the new CPUs is not something I'm very excited about anyway, they may look great on paper but they probably won't perform that great within their thermal constraints anyway. And there seem to be zero changes other than that.Suddenly, buying the 2018 model when it was $500 off didn't seem like a bad choice knowing you could potentially get one of these new keyboards should anything go awry.
Hindsight's a bitch.
The big refresh will surely wait for the 10nm CPUs next year.Don't give up hope yet on the 16 inch MacBook Pro just yet. Apple might actually introduce this at a special event in October to go along with macOS 10.15 and new MacBook Air's and MacBooks.
Remember they refreshed the 2018 model with fast Vega GPU's the same year in October, but only announced it as a footnote.
I’m actually pretty satisfied with the upgrade. Better CPUs and better keyboard (I’ll wait for test though) are both welcome. I do wish they had updated the GPU options though. IMO Vega 16 should be the new standard chip...
Other than that, as much as I wanted a redesign, it’s not too bad. They concentrated on the keyboard which is all I wanted.
I do wonder where those rumors about the 16” came from... Is it a late 2019 model or has it been delayed until 2020/2021?
Sigh...Looks like my base 2015 is going to hold on for another year. Guess it's time for a fresh install. Really was excited about some new screen tech and an updated T2 chip that fixes the issues plaguing some users. Hopefully this quiet update means that the full refresh could come out later this year. Really want OLED/MLED and Navi. At least they are taking the keyboard stuff seriously now.
