I'm just excited to buy my first iPhone...
I've been holding out for so long...hate to leave Sprint....
Or maybe I should hold out until 4th Qtr...rumors speculate other carriers by then...sigh...

The state of Washington (USA) has to pay out millions of dollars a year for Wallmart employees that don't make enough and need food stamp assistance. Once this stops I will THINK about buying things from them. Until then, no way. Pay better, livable wages first.

I'm with you 100% - I hate Walmart. Years ago I went to special screening of Walmart - the High Cost of Low Price, and it just confirmed so much of what people say about the store. There's a good website (www.peopleofwalmart.com) that you must visit if you haven't ever, it's a hoot!

As for this product at Walmart, does anyone think it's a loss leader for Walmart and they're just trying to get you in the store? If so, go in, buy one, and don't buy anything else and enjoy the product at the cheapest price.

this is interesting for me. i live in a town of 12k people. fortunately, a wal-mart is one thing we do have.

still not sure if i won't pre-order through apple, though...

You only have one life to live. I wouldn't wait for something that you truly want based on analyst's speculation.

That is too funny and we have similar people here at my local Wal-Mart. Anyone that knows anything about Technology will not buy from Wal-Mart. Someone that is wanting to save a few pennies will buy from them.

I don't even grocery shop at Wal-Mart. Screw them and their evil company.

Anyone that knows anything about technology won't buy from there? Why exactly? Are the Walmart iPhones inferior quality? C'mon. Quit being stupid.

Can't imagine asking a Wal*Mart employee or any other store employee on how to operate my iPhone features or apps or any questions about apple care. Will all the iPone accessories be there...

Nope..I'll be at the Official Apple Store with real knowledgeable representatives..

Will Wal*Mart or BB offer their own additional insurance over apple care…wonder how that would play out.

I know that BestBuy does and their insurance covers water damage and drops. Plays out quite well actually

No, I'm sure Wal-mart worked out a deal where they guaranteed a certain quantity of sales for the rights to sell it $2 cheaper.

Shopping there isn't worth saving $2 on a $200+ purchase.

I don't want to pick on walmart associates. However, the problem is "good luck if you have a question" Most do not know the answer, and why? One week they are in electronics, next they are in apparel, next they are in automotive, etc. They don't have the opportunity to learn and are not trained on the product. they just sell it.

Who is going to help the buyer who never had an iphone setup email, activate the phone, show them how to use the phone ,etc. Apple retail stores can and will take the time to do all this. Many times I am in walmart (killing time while wife does groceries), I wander by the electronics and I end up answering questions for customers because associates are just like "hmm, I don't know let's see what the box says"

This is why I have a problem with technology products being sold in department stores. Not just apple, but all electronics where a customer is trying to figure out the best one to buy, and how to use it once they get it home.

Oh and another thing - do you know Walmarts exchange policy is usually a lot less than most other places. I think they allow 7 days on phones and computers, 14 days on cameras, 30 days on TV's and 90 for everything else. so if your phone breaks in 8 days, you can't just run to your local walmart and get it replaced.

Walmart has everything.
Wal-mart only has stuff that sells in quantity, moves on the shelves and only items they can get bulk discounts from manufacturers on (even if they need to shave corners on quality to save pennies). If you want quality stuff, go to a specialty shop or shop selectively online.

just called my local wal-mart. they don't know anything yet. somehow i'm not surprised. :(

That makes sense. I'm just glad they don't have Walmart over here, though, they do have Asda, and I'm ashamed to say I have been in there 2 or 3 times when I've needed something none of the stores near here stock. (hangs head in shame)

No but have you dealt with a Wal-Mart employee before? This is my point, it's not being stupid. Wal-Mart should just die! Their company values are way off the moral scale.

So, tell what you really think of Wal-Mart...

Well if they release the iPhone at wal-mart in any way similar to way run their black friday sales, expect a few deaths across the nation.

I guess we can also expect to see the gun sound and fart machine apps rising to the top of app store charts that day as well.

That really is a stupid comment - and talk about a generalization? Please, wise-up and be respectful.

D

Given the fact that Wal-Mart has a market cap of around 188 billion and revenues of over 400 billion. Don't think they are going away anytime soon:eek:

No I don't think they are going away probably never...I personally prefer not to shop there. Getting help with anything is useless. At my Wal-Mart half the employees don't even know where things are and I have to wonder around until I stumble upon it.

Not that I need help setting up my iPhone but I would rather go to a store where they activate phones more frequently to have less issues. I use to work for Radio Shack for 7 years as a Manager. I have seen Wal-Mart setting up phones before and they usually have no clue what's going on.
