This is similar to selling new Mercedes Benz in a used car lot, in Compton.

You ever do a cross-check of the yearly income of an average Costco shopper? If you think they're making the coin to shop at Macy's and Neiman Marcus, you'd be very surprised. Blue collar people shopping and making Apple profits. And guess what Costco sells? My, gosh! Apple products!

You might want to get off your high horse there.

I shop at Costco, I see no reason to shop at Needless Markup.

My needs are fairly simple, though I've always liked gadgets and cars.

"Rollbacks", "Save Money. Live Better."

No needless markups. :D

Below living standard wages, corporate sponsored classes teaching employees how to apply for government benefits to make up for their short fall in income. Terrible benefits, and lousy working conditions.

Costco is where I shop.

If you're all "America first", then why do you buy Apple products made in China? Because it would cost more if it were made in America. Sure it would. That's why things are made in China. Ah, but wait a minute... slave labour IN China MAKING Apple products is a reality. So, what do you want? You want to employ Americans and pay more for products, or do you want slave labour in China and pay less? It seems people want to pay less. So your plight on the American workers is exceptionally rich when it comes at the expense of Chinese human beings who suffer far, far worse than American Walmart employees.

Talk about a displaced sense of empathy!

I would love an evidence you have to back this up. And if you are thinking Foxconn, remember that because of the size of the company the suicide rates are comparable to national levels in China.

Wow it never takes long for the fanboys to spout the same idiotic things as Jobs does.

Can't imagine asking a Wal*Mart employee or any other store employee on how to operate my iPhone features or apps or any questions about apple care. Will all the iPone accessories be there...

Nope..I'll be at the Official Apple Store with real knowledgeable representatives..

Will Wal*Mart or BB offer their own additional insurance over apple care…wonder how that would play out.

ya.... you'll be at the official store where you pick up your iphone... pay for it... and take it home to activate it just like everyone else...

Shack Reservation Guarantees Your iPhone Will Be Held For You

walmart, BB, the shack.... all of these places will have limited supply. Best bet will be ordering online or going to an att or apple store
Radio Shack reservations, which include a $50 deposit in the form of a Shack Gift Card, guarantee they will receive and hold your model iPhone 4 for you on launch day the 24th. At least that's what the manager at my Shack told me.

Can somebody explain to me "why would you ever want to stay in line when it can be delivered to your house?" I assume if preorders start at 15th, and for those who pre ordered them will receive them on 24th. Same story as with 3GS.

Dont waste time :)

Yep. When you order it to be delivered at home, the website asks for your phone number and then checks to see if you're allowed to buy it at the discounted price, and then they ship it to your house. The only questionable writing on the Apple site for mail ordering is something about "shipping when available". One would hope they'd ship them to arrive on launch day.

Good news!

I live in Destin and the ATT store is 30 seconds walking distance from Walmart, which is a 24 hour Walmart. Still trying to decide which one to camp out at. If the line is smaller camping out at Walmart then Im doing that! And it will be in the AC , so no worries about anything! Im soo stoked! If anyone here lives in Destin Florida, maybe we could all meet up at the same place!

Have you seen previous iPad and iPhone lines? Mac fanboys and walmart shoppers appear to have a lot in common.

I knew I recognised you in both lines, except in one line you're berating people and the other you're embracing them. ;)

Don't worry, your secret is safe with me - I won't tell people on here which line you were berating and which line you were embracing. Your secret is safe with me. :D

Change of plans

I plan on not going to walmart to get my iphone. They have no idea what I was talking about . I just called the one in my city and another in a nearby city and neither store knew anything about what I was talking about, so I think I will just stick with the ATT store that is more safer and will not have to worry about any problems!

You guys are probably right, I'm sure the iphone I get there will be as hillbilly as everyone who shops there. It probably won't be able to make any phone calls!

Then again, the iphone 3GS I have right now doesn't make any phone calls either. I got that at an Apple Store. This is a replacement of a replacement phone, all because of failed calls. Got them all at the apple store.

If you don't like WalMart, don't shop there. Fact is, walmart is much closer than any apple store for millions of Americans, whose money works just as well as you high brows.

May the WalMart bashing commence.

And it's that kind of comment that gives Apple fans a bad name. Makes us all look like snobs.

Apple's main marketing slant is that it's products make the best user experience for computers, music, books, the internet, and media available to everoynone in the best possible way. Regardless of whether that's true or not, selling iPhone, iPads, iPods, or Macs in as many retail stores as possible is a way for them to reach as many potential customer's as possible. Now if high falutin d-bags like you prefer to shop at the Apple store only, then great. But keep in mind not everyone lives within a reasonable distance of an Apple store, and one of the other retail outlets might be more convenient. Regardless of where you buy it, you're still getting an Apple product.

Best comment so far. Who gives a damn where you buy it. Its still an apple product and if you can get it at a cheaper price then thats great.

I agree, I only buy Apple products from the Apple store.
Apple should maybe reconsider letting Walmart sell Their products. I associate Walmart with cheap products and low income shoppers, that doesn't mesh with Apples high class image.

and is there a problem with "low income” people? Look at that woman who got that iPad FREE by Apple. She was considered “low income” and she saved up only to be turned away by apple. Yeah they changed their policy but still.
When YOU your self end up with no job or forced to work at minimum wadge then you will know what its like to be on “low income”

Apple's goal is to sell as many products and make as much money as they can. It's you people that are so wrapped up in this "Apple image" elitist BS.

+1

Thank you! You absoultely said it best. If you start excluding people who don't make $XX,XXX.XX/year, or live in a "poor" area (no Apple products for Brooklyn residents, yes to Manhattan residents; Compton no, Malibu yes), you escalate to a dangerous form hierarchy. I know they say "whenever anyone mentions Nazis, the thread is officially dead", but, c'mon!

Gee, you're happy that iPads sell like hotcakes, but if you found out it was some minimum wage worker who saved for months to buy one, you'd say they aren't worthy of owning it?

Amen. I love saving money. I have more money in savings then I do in my checking. That’s the way it should be. Problem with the young generation is they want to spend spend spend and then bitch when they run out of money.

I refuse to shop at wal-mart

Good for you. Its not going to hurt them any. They make more then enough with or with out your help.

Costco is great to.

Can somebody explain to me "why would you ever want to stay in line when it can be delivered to your house?"

I have two numbers that need to be ported over from Sprint. I'd rather reserve two phones, pick them up at the store, and let the people there handle all that.
