Anyone else notice the positioning of the iPhone box in the photo.....? that CDMA sticker is kinda obvious. Is it a hint of what's to come??? hmmmm?

(Begin the "not this again posts in...3...2...1.)
:p

thats the box of white verizon iphones..... LOL

All of you who are getting your phones on the 23rd or 24th are very lucky. I ordered mine through Apple on the 16th. I'm told it won't ship until July 14th.

What does the CDMA sticker mean?

It doesn't mean anything. They even mentioned it in the original post- the CDMA sticker is on the box of an LG cell phone in the background. The picture was taken in the electronics department or in the store room, so this stuff is bound to be laying around. Don't wet yourself just yet. :p

Woot - ordering from AT&T premier paid off. Just got back ordered removed last night. Got my tracking this morning. Scheduled for a June 23rd delivery with tracking info active. So much for getting screwed over.

My bet is to lighten the activation load on launch day for stores.

Agreed. Just to avoid the hit on the servers as well as every starts downloading new Apps for their phone or some HD movie to see what that is like. Hopefully the iOS4 update will be through for the most part by then. I did my update of iPod Touch last night and it took hours. Today I can't download a few TV shows. I cancelled those downloads and will try them again tomorrow.
Apple is going to have to start playing some games if they are going to have hits this big in the future as their market share increases. It is a good problem to have but still I bet they do somethings different going forward. Some things they might try would be "secret pre-order" day. Just tell Macrumors when the pre-orders are allowed, word will get out but it will be much slower and the hardcore will get first dibbs and it won't be at least 24 hours before everyone knows through the major media. And for a big iOS update, how about starting with just updateds for one type of phone, like iPhone 4 on say Monday, then update 3GS, then update iPad, then update iPod touch by say Friday. Spread things out a bit. I certainly could have waited to update my iPod touch for a couple of days and taken the hit off their servers. (And gotten to bed earlier.)

Will AT&T do in-store activation on the 23rd?

I ordered from AT&T in-store for an in-store pickup. FedEx shows June 23rd delivery. Can I pick it up on Wednesday?

The only jailbreak available for the OFFICIAL iOS 4 is for the 3G and Ipod 2G. There is no jailbreak currently available for the 3GS or the 4G.

There was a jailbreak available for the leaked "GM" version that was suppose to be the final release but as the checksums show, the "GM" is different than the one released yesterday.

can you direct me to the jailbreak for the 3g thanks!

I'm pretty sure they're shipping early PRIMARILY so AT&T servers don't get destroyed in the A-day madness; but it doesn't hurt that the Droid announcement is tomorrow either. There is a much better chance iPhone news/unboxing/reviews will shut out any other tech news.

I'm surprised that nobody else has mentioned the other stress point. FedEx may have told Apple that it doesn't have the resources to deliver ALL of those phones on the 24th and needed two days to handle that much volume.

Just sayin..

BTW, I got my email this morning from Apple as well. Mine is supposed to be here by 10:30 AM. Unfrickinbelievable!:D

Anyone who ordered from AT&T, does your FedEx tracking number actually work yet? Mine has been invalid since I got it yesterday morning... I have no idea what this means for delivery dates either. Will I get my phone on 6/24?

Have you tried tracking it by reference number and putting in the phone number you used on the order?

My friend, relax, a million of us tried in vain to order from Apple's website — these are merely the lucky hundred thousands who got through :)

Now I will be really really  if they don't 'keep' my phone in my Apple store till the 'close of business' on the 23rd as promised in my reservation confirmation — my plan is to show up at 8.30 p.m. and get the phone before 9 p.m., their closing time.

You mean on the 24th? Good luck with that plan.

Well this sucks. I tried from the minute the preorders opened all throughout the day and I could only reserve the phone at my local Apple store, not buy it online. And since I'm not the owner of the ATT account, I may not even be able to extend the contract at the brick and mortar store because for some reason if you buy it in person, you have to be the account holder and have photo ID, but if you buy it online, you just need the zip code and last 4 digits of the social security number. :(
So turns out, not only am I not getting it early, I may not be able to get it for a good while since if I don't pick up on the 24th, the reservation is null.
Anyone have any advice?

My tracking says at 12:29am it was in memphis what if we get them today or will they hold them one whole day? Im only three hours from memphis, tn. SO FREAKING CLOSE!

Mine's sitting in Memphis too, and I'm only 10 miles away from the FedEx Hub/World HQ.

I'm thinking of calling up some of my FedEx employee friends and seeing if I can just knock on the door and pick mine up today... I wish.

Stupid Move Apple and ATT

I am sorry, but I don't think Apple should be sending these out to stores for walk-in's when there are people that pre-ordered (Me from ATT on the 15th) that still don't have any idea of when they are going to get theirs!

I ordered at ~ 6pm EST.

Last I heard, I was after some cut-off time and that I will get mine at some later time than the 24th. No date was given to AT&T customers.

I think this is totally wrong.

If there are phones that are not spoken for, Apple should be sending them to people who put down their money on the 15th and not to Wal-Mart, Radio Shack, and Best Buy!

Hmm. That's an interesting question... I don't see why not? Most people will be going to AT&T for iPhones on Thursday so it shouldn't be particularly busy... But you should call in and ask. If you ordered in-store, they may only make it available on the 24th. I remember when I ordered online through ATT, store deliveries would only be available on the 25th...

i would do this but im scared they will leave it in the front of the house. if i miss deliever tm. they will try again on thursd right? ill be home thursday so then ill be ok.

Yeah, they usually will make three attempts (weds, thurs, friday) before returning it to the sender.

I got the email, too!!! YEY!!! I went to my local FedEx facility yesterday to make sure I could pick up my package there @ 9AM on the 24th (which I can :)). Looks like I'll be going there tomorroooooow instead!!!

Excellent point. 600,000+ packages (in addition to normal volume) for a ONE DAY window is ridiculous. I know Fedex/UPS/DHL can handle a huge volume (holidays), but they can don't have to deliver everything in a single day.
