Walmart Receives iPhone 4s, Apple Confirms Early iPhone 4 Deliveries on June 23rd

Today is my birthday and I woke up to the lovely e-mail about June 23rd delivery. Day is off to a good start.

I am very much willing to bet after the preorder debacle and given that a large number of iPhones would be in position to be delivered the 23rd Apple just gave the go ahead to help mitigate activation traffic. Hopefully everyone 23rd or 24th will have a smooth painless activation. :)
 
My original shipping email from Apple said it would arrive the 24th. My FedEx tracking number says Jun 23, 2010 by 12:00 PM. I have not received one of these "your iPhone will arrive June 23rd" emails.

Any idea when it will arrive?

I was just thinking, since Walmart is going to be carrying iPhone 4... will they sell the phone at 12AM on the 24th? Since they are open 24/7 in most locations. I have a reservation at the Apple store, but if I can get it at 12AM instead of 7AM that would be sweet.

Also, how many do you think they will have to sell? I need to figure out my best chance to snag one.

i am in the same boat! I got my email (which i thought looked really fake and like a spoof not apple like at all) and I was like damn wish I would come home today lol
 
wait i habe a question so does this mean if my att store gets it june 23 i can go pick it up that day?

1. It's pointless to provide tracking if it doesn't actually start working until the day you're supposed to get the package (someone previously mentioned that their # last year only started working the day they received their phone)

2. There haven't been any confirmation emails from AT&T that the phone will arrive on 6/24, so I think it might not.. My guess is AT&T orders have lower priority or something along those lines. Until I have some kind of confirmation of a 6/24 delivery, I don't really want to be disappointed by thinking it is guaranteed to come on 6/24.

I contacted AT&T this weekend, talked to the manager, of a manager, or a manager, who confirmed that the AT&T phones are shipping the exact same as the ones from Apple, and I will receive it in the morning on 6/24. Take it for what it's worth, but my near hour on the phone eased my concerns.

I too just tracked my new toy and said it will be received on 6/23 by 3:00pm. This makes for a wonderful wednesday.....though I still doubt I'll be going to work on Thursday! :)

I opted for a reservation on Thursday because I have to go into the office the 24th. I telecommute 4 days a week and my office is 45 miles from my house, but there is an Apple Store close to the office. If I knew it would have been delivered on Wednesday I would have gone that route rather than getting to stand in a line my whole lunchtime +!
 
Just got my email this morning also!! After I saw where it was yesterday I figured it MIGHT just get here early. Sure enough they say it'll be here tomorrow. Perfect! I have to be working from home tomorrow anyway. WOOHOO!

Except this is, of course, the first iPhone to officially support tethering with AT&T. OH. You must mean you can't do without STEALING tethering. Very nice. Pass the cost on to the rest of us. And don't forget to complain about how slow the network is while you're doing it. How wrong of AT&T to expect a guy with an iPhone and laptop on their network to pay more than someone who is only using the phone. Thanks! Keep it classy!
 
Wow, Apple put their large ego aside and did something for it's customers. If they didn't change this, 6/24 would have been a huge meltdown like 6/15 was.

I'm glad I'm working from home both days. That would suck to have it delivered on Wed and not be there.

If they did this to help with the AT&T activation, they might not have done it with other countries. I guess this is the price you guys pay for having a good provider that can handle their business. :)

You could call them. They would know better than I (we) would.

It sounds like it will ether be Wed or Thursday.

They didn't put their ego aside, they're looking to upstage the Droid X's announcement.

Maybe that's the point. If they are doing this to alieve server traffic, deliver Apple's stock on the 23rd and AT&Ts on the 24th.

No. I'm pretty sure if you read the original post, it says that retail stores will start making the phones available on the 24th.


Anyways, I was going to come in here and complain about how my premier order was botched: I ordered on the 15th at 9am EST, but the site said I ordered on the 18th; no tracking #; it said it was backordered; etc.

I checked 20min ago and it gave a Fedex tracking number saying it's shipping overnight and I"ll get it tomorrow by 3pm. Hopefully I'll get it before, as the Fedex truck seems comes to my work in the morning.

This is going to be an apple-tastic 2 days! Today I get my i7 macbook pro and a new canon printer (and an ipod touch, which will be going on ebay), and tomorrow I get my iPhone. Ooooh I can't wait!

Edit: And I'm going to say this for the 32487234th time, but I'm pretty sure they're shipping early PRIMARILY so AT&T servers don't get destroyed in the A-day madness; but it doesn't hurt that the Droid announcement is tomorrow either. There is a much better chance iPhone news/unboxing/reviews will shut out any other tech news.
 
I got the email but mine is still in Alaska.... gonna have to hurry to memphis and onto Texas for me. But I will be ecstatic if I get it on the 23rd. Have to travel on the 24th and it would be great to get to take it on my trip.
 
Mine's still in Alaska and showing a 24th delivery date. So while I no longer think the e-mail telling me it will come on the 23rd is a hoax, I doubt that it is accurate. It has too far to go to get here tomorrow.

Still, I guess I'd better do the pre-sign thing and put it on the door.
 
I also received the email that says "This email is to confirm that your delivery will occur on June 23rd." I just find it hard to believe that Fedex's info is incorrect. FedEx tracking states June 24th.

I can work from home one day but not both. So do I take Apple on faith or rely on what Fedex tracking states?
