Here is my summary.. Meh

Hahahaha... you guys kill me.
I actually had the complete opposite reaction. I feel like Apple has re-found its footing and a conceptual direction forward. Just about every thing announced (except for the Minnie Mouse watch face), seemed like exactly the correct move. Really excited to see where this all goes.

I'm glad you enjoy the frustration...even though it's funny...i think it's legit....especially when support for macs are being cut off.

What is with the negativity? This is one of the better keynotes in recent history. Apple brought a lot of cool things to iOS 10, watchOS 3, and macOS 10.12. All of these updates will only improve the user experience across all Apple devices.
It's a combination of it no longer being cool/clever to like things as that is just too mainstream, and/or people having unrealistic expectations (not hopes but actual expectations) of basically being completely blown away by everything and it all being completely unexpected and surprising.

https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/ios-expectations.1977389/ does a fairly good job going over it all.

All in all solid software updates.

Keep pushing forward. They all don't have to be life changing
Bingo. Expectations vs. reality.

What bothered me the most were the exuberant hand claps on nearly every cringe-worthy feature announced.

The dumbest is that minnie mouse watch face omfg. Grown a** man having a toy watch with a minnie-mouse watch face. Let's not forget the excitement of sending hidden messages and full screen effects. When you congratulate someone on their marriage, remember not to ever call them and talk to them but instead send your regards via iMessage but it's not any'ol text it's a text effect!

I'm actually satisfied with WWDC, they opened up iOS way more than expected. Siri, phone, messages, maps... Also, the ability to remove many stock apps further signals Apple moving in this direction. Yeah icloud drive is a half assed finder I agree, but aside from that, what else was everyone realistically expecting? Terminal? C'mon, you know that's not happening lol.

Calling them? Whatever happened to getting on your horse-pulled carriage and making a pilgrimage to see someone face to face? (Or at the very least sending a raven with a scribbled note?)

Come on now, how did Apple not add a time travel feature and introduce a new Apple Hoverboard? It's the least they could have done, and even that would have been barely acceptable as being innovative and new enough.

I'm just pissed about no new hardware and the clown show they provided.
For everyone bemoaning the lack of hardware announcements, it's important to remember two key factors:
1. WWDC is a conference for developers. It's about software. That's the point. Sure, they've debuted hardware at WWDC before, but it's always a bonus or an aside. The conference is for developers to learn how to create better software on Apple's platforms, and part of that is rolling out new software features. It's not like the fall announcements that focus on hardware.
2. When it comes to new Macs, a lot of the blame lies with Intel. For years, they've been behind schedule releasing their new processors. That unreliability creates a nightmarish scenario for Apple, as they might have desired to announce a new MacBook or iMac or Mac Pro but Intel had other plans.

Right the next time I want to talk to someone like my own mother I'd instead send her a heartbeat and a image of myself decorated with some particle effects. That would be great.

These snapchat features are only good for tweenie boppers who sext each other. Imagine that a hidden message when swiped reveals some penis ejaculating. That's a cool effect for you?

it's iOS 10 for crying out loud. TEN revisions and yet the iPad still looks identical to an iPhone. That giant iPad Pro 12.9" of mine is a stretched out iPhone interface with all that extra space between the grid of icons. But no we don't want to change that because it's great! Good grief there are a ton of things wrong with iOS on the iPad alone and yet we focus on more stickers and text effects in iMessage.

Let me guess iOS 20 will actually make an iPad different.

I posted a similar thought on another article so I apologize for being redundant, but I really think they set themselves up for failure with these big dramatic presentations. Unless there's something really big to show off why not just make an announcement online? Or simply post a video? It seems like they're stuck in these yearly cycles now and force themselves to come up with ideas to justify a new name for macOS or a new whole number for iOS. I would be perfectly satisfied if next summer they just posted the info online for iOS 10.5 or whatever number they're at. Sure these new features are nice but are they worth all the drama?

It seems you and many others here intentionally fail to understand what the purpose of a developer's conference is.

It's a four day event targeting developers who design apps for four different operating systems (macOS, iOS, watchOS, and tvOS), and opened with a keynote presentation with a top-level summary of those operating systems and key technology components and apps. During the four day period there are workshops and 1,000 Apple engineers available to help get developers up to speed on the changes.

There were significant updates discussed in the keynote to give developers a heads-up on what to expect. It's mind boggling and intellectually dishonest for those concluding it was only about an emoji update, the renaming of macOS, and, other than that not much else new.

Clearly because something isn't useful to you and/or isn't something that would typically be used in all circumstances with everyone that must mean it is pointlessly horrible. That certainly has some strong logical flow there.

Sounds like perhaps you didn't mean to quote me there.

You brought up horse and carriage as if we are talking acient no tech civilization. What's your point exactly when you know damn well this world we live in is getting more and more pathetic. Text effects is cool and all if you are dating in your teens and maybe under 25 y/o. Otherwise it's a bunch of snapchat rip off gimmick features tailored for more users to come over to the iPhone.

The point was perry clearly made in the post that you replied to.

It's not like Apple might actually want it to be like that.

If that's the case it's getting worse with each iOs revision. all that real estate only to stretch out iOS smartphone UI to fill a tablet screen. If any change is needed it's definitely the iPad UI. It's terrible in 2016.

which is just rhetoric. Give it up - this WWDC is unanimously pathetic.

Perhaps it might just not be the OS to your liking then.

"Unanimously"...well, we can leave it right there as far as that demonstrating what I was pointing out.
