I don't think using the weather complication will cause any battery drain issues. If anything, it will cause the iPhone's battery to drain faster. I assume it's the iPhone that will use the location features and then simply push an update to the watch every so often...

Dead At End Of Day

This is not even possible because the Watch enter Power safe mode after 10% or i am wrong here?

Battery 71%
Use 1h 33min
Standby 13h 6min

SS 42MM

It will prompt you, but doesn't force you.

Haven't really had a full normal day to test out the battery yet, but do you think constantly raising your wrist to check the watch face wastes a lot of battery?

I ask because, as I type this, for example, my wrist is in a position where it's right on the edge of being in the "raised" orientation so it goes on and off once in a while while I type and move my hands.

Also, it was like a flashing light party while I was doing laundry.

I can't even eat a meal without it constantly going on and off.

I don't want to turn off the wrist detection feature for activity and security reasons.

Anyone else?

doing what though?
Aside from a 13-and-a-half minute "outdoor cycle", hardly anything at all in those 8 hours. No 3rd party apps, a handful of text messages and like 3 emails.

My battery is faring much better today; I've lost 20% of my battery in the five hours my Watch has been off the charger, which included another 13-and-a-half minute outdoor cycle. I don't anticipate losing another 30% in the next 3 hours.

I use my 42 loads for time checks etc etc and the battery life on mine is amazing. I'm currently at 70% after 10h 4 minutes.

I'm delighted with it. I don't turn anything off. It's the same as when it arrived.

if that's all you're doing then 50% down after 8 hours might be a bad battery, maybe take it to an apple store to get it looked at, but they don't have any in stock so you don't have much of a choice unless you ship it back

took off charger at 4:40 am and its now 3:10 and i have 54% battery left still.. is this decent battery life? i have done two 45 minute work outs so far and some texting, notifications.

That seems pretty good as I've heard workouts drain the battery more than anything. I have yet to use that app. I'm at 85% after 8 hours right now.

That's pretty good actually. the Workout app takes your heartrate about 12 times a minute. I think I used up about 10% of the battery in a 30 minute workout.

24 hours easy on 42mm SS

I put 40% in poll because it's at least that on my 42mm SS after one day.

In the big picture, I'm easily going 24 hours of use+standby, specifically as follows Sunday through Tuesday:

4/26-27: 24 hours WIFI & BT except overnight. (no diagnostic because repaired)
4/26 14 hours worn, taken off with 47 percent battery available
5.5 percent used during reserve overnight, unlocked with 43 percent batt
4/27 10 hours worn watch down to 6% fully operational WF BT (did not put on reserve when prompted)

4/28 put on at 6 a.m.
11 am ph 96%, including a few web page reads
1:30 78% after several web pages reads

11 am Awatch 84% using timer for three 10-minute presentations, other notifications
1:30 78% using timer for two 10-minute presentations, other notifications

7:54pm end of day started at 6 a.m.
Batt aw 57%
Batt ph 79%
Watch diagnostics
Usage 2 hours:31 minutes
Standby 13 hours:57 minutes

I'll definitely be paying an Apple Store a visit. Today I am at 67% percent battery after 8 hours; that's much better than yesterday's 53%, but apart from my 13-and-a-half minute "outdoor cycle" I have barely even touched it.

Model: 38mm Sport Silver
Day length: 15.5 hours
Watch battery remaining: 47%
iPhone 6 battery remaining: 51%

38mm Sport went on at 0930 this morning, and I just removed it at 0100.

Usage for the day included showing it off to various family members i.e. demonstrating the various functions, numerous email/text notifications, plenty of activity (~11,000 steps), and occasional checkins with maps/weather/Twitter.

The phone battery is usually a lot less reduced than this, but I spent a lot of time on it today checking up on things while I was out and about, so it doesn't surprise me.

Overall, I am very, very happy with the battery life so far. I have no issue with nightly recharging, and as yet I haven't needed to top it up at any time beyond that.

I've found iphone battery to be more of a concern than the watch. After my first few days of checking various function of the watch, my usage pattern stabilised and he watch now can retain 40-60% battery when i back home from office. However, my iphone 5s battery seems draining faster than ever. It drain should be 20-30% more than before

The 5S does have terrible battery though

I agree. And I have the 6 Plus. I'm very happy with the watch battery life but I did notice a faster drain on my iPhone obviously since bluetooth is on the whole time

38mm Sport used for a whole day of Watch app development (installing app, waiting on the Watch spinner animation, testing app, deleting app, fixing bugs, repeat, etc.). Casual use in the evening. Didn't charge it overnight. It was the next day, almost 32 hours after I took it off the charger, that it gave me the 10% warning.

Have some more to add its now 8:33 pm and still at 13% and added two more additional work outs a 30 minute and 45 minute work out so that's 4 workouts in one day and still have not died the battery. I go to charge it typically around 9:00 pm.

Put watch on this morning after charging last night to 100%. Did some additional changes and set up and went down to 91%.
Took it off to shower and put back on charger and was back to 100% within an hour. Time was 10:30.
During the day, have used Siri several times. Used Apple Pay at the Apple store. received several messages from wife and also some notifications. Check time on a regular basis.
Tonight, have tried to push usage to see how battery would drain. Changed watch faces several times and have brought up from blank screen to read time multiple times.
Now almost at 9:00 PM and am at 56%. So at this point I am satisfied with the battery life. I'm now going to put on charger to see how long it takes to come back up to 100%.
If anything, if there are periods of the day I am away from the house and really not in need of any function except time, will put into power reserve. For my usage, this is OK. As Apple works on the software end, I believe we will see some additional improvement with the next release.

Yours must be the 42mm, right?

Today was my first day this week without the watch running down to dead; I went 14:48 with 11% still in the tank. My day included 68 minutes with the workout app running, but I hardly even touched the watch for much of the day so that's likely why it isn't dead already.

My battery is off the wall good, 12:20am and I'm at 40% even with a few calls, and 1 hour exercise, yesterday it was 32%.

Most of the time it's a quick glance or quick Siri request, it's not comfortable to really do much on it, so never really on it for a long time.

I also put the screen brightness to the lowest setting, and I don't have prominent haptic, I thought it was overkill regular haptic works great.

I don't want to turn off the wrist detection feature for activity and security reasons.

They are two separate options. You can turn off activate on wrist raise whilst leaving on wrist detection. Maybe for you, turning off the activate on wrist raise option would be worth a try- if you don't like it, you can always turn it back on!

38mm actually. Today the battery not as good I'm already at 97% and it's been off charger an hour without much use.

edit: unpaired and repaired my device and did a reboot to see if this helps any with the battery performance.

Received 42 mm stainless w black sport band on Monday. Battery life has been surprisingly great.

Yesterday I wore from 6:00 AM to 9 PM. Used light to moderately, including a short workout. When I plugged it up to charge it still had 51% battery. Also didn't negatively impact my phone's battery. I was honestly shocked.

Just got 30 hours of a single charge on my 42mm.
Light usage, few notifications every couple of hours, and some directions.
Very happy with that, was able to go out all day yesterday, and continue to use the watch well past midday the following day.
Didn't enable power reserve at all either.
