Anyone else having an issue with 1.01 where a text comes through the phone first (including the screen turning on, notification + sound) and the Apple Watch gets the text about 3-4 seconds later? I've tried resetting the phone and watch and it still does it. Any other suggestions?

Same here... Bummer.

is it just me or the screen turns on faster?

Same for me, they really improved that. I feel like they also tweaked the wrist turn detection because if I only slightly turn my wrist towards me to take a peek, it still turns on, which is a plus in my eyes!

Mine did the same, I unpaired and repaired the watch and the problem went away.

Somebody please test this for me

If you have an AirPort Extreme router
Make your wifi hidden using the airport utility app on the Mac or iPhone

Now check to see if the watch can connect to that wifi when you turn Bluetooth off on the iPhone

If it does , turn wifi on and off on the iPhone , see if the watch reconnects

When I had my watch it would not connect to my hidden network unless I made it visible

Legit ignored this thread all day thinking it was one of those wish features/fix list 1.01 threads

Yes I noticed this right away! When. I'm laying down I had to tap my screen before to get my watch face to turn on. Now I don't have to :D

The screen is inadvertently turning on more often due to normal arm movements now I noticed.. I'm a bit concerned this might impact daily battery life

Thank you for making such a solid post and sharing your observations! It's always nice when there is good content to read.

Kind of you to say.... and now for the evening update.... (follow on from post 195)

Haptic. Haven't missed a notification all day, hope it keeps up. Too early to tell, but normally I would miss a couple my now.

Battery life. Obvs too early to tell for sure, but the extra screen on time from Raise to wrist working better is certainly not hurting battery life. You do notice it firing a lot more unnecessarily than before, I wonder how this will be overnight in a dark room. (I sleep with it on for heart rate check)

11 hrs since I installed it, but in that time it has gone from 87% to 63% at 7:30pm, and I have been using it a lot more than normal. That includes 72 minutes of outdoor walking workouts. And running every app I have for fun, now that they load better.

Glances are so much more usable now they are not claggy.

App loading still has the occasional glitch, but still nothing like the nightmare of 1.0.

Mail and Messages work so much better now. Faster. I actually read a long email on my Watch today, without annoying the person I was with.

Siri is now super useful for me - it is still dumb Siri, but now the phone is not better at it than the watch. Hey siri works really well if you do it right after a raise to wrist activation. If it has been on for a while it often misses it. I love whipping up my wrist, asking Hey Siri some maths, and getting a hands free answer quicker than i could load and use a calculator on Watch or get out my iPhone from my pocket. The future!

Unfixed bug - Deleted shared Google Calendar appointments still show up in the calendar, they never delete.

At lunchtime walk it was a bit cold, and the heart rate monitor had a few wrong readings and gaps, so this problem is not completely solved for cold swinging wrists, but it is a fraction of the problem it was. Probably about as good as you can get with a wrist sensor on a cold swinging extremity. ;)

But the summary remains true - this for me takes Apple Watch from a "0.7" buggy beta to a decent "1.0".

Update working fine here. 3rd-party apps open (as long as your iPhone is directly near) noticeable faster. I expect bigger improvements only after the real native SDK for Watch OS apps will be released during the WWDC in June.

I also have Siri in Dutch now and it's functioning fine.

BTW, I don't see a lot of difference in the turn-wrist-to-enable. I see some people here mentioning that they had problems (on 1.0) when laying or when your arm is on the desk. I didn't have these problems, for me it (most of the time) worked correctly on 1.0 already. Maybe there's also a difference because I'm left handed and wear the watch right (with crown on right though).

If the SDK is announced in June

If the SDK is announced in June

True... has there been any evidence at all that an SDK supporting native apps will be announced at WWDC?

Well, this Apple press release from November 2014 states that developers will be able to create "fully native apps for Apple watch, starting later next year" [2015]. This means that the WWDC would be a perfect timing to announce the SDK and release it in beta for developers, while the Watch update itself may be released to the public in the autumn.

They should have put this information right in the update screen on the Apple Watch app on the phone. There was literally NOTHING that indicated I had to be on wifi.

Exactly the problem I had.

My watch was connected to power, at 100%, and the Phone was plugged in, but still, it would not download the update.

Nothing stated the phone had to be on wifi, until I went online to the website.

I'm still having problems with calendar appointments on my Exchange calendar. I notice the issue if I have an appointment that's changed by the Meeting Organiser then the meeting disappears from the Watch even though it's fine on the iPhone.

V annoying. :(

i believe they have changed the heart rate frequency from 10 minutes to at least 30 minutes. i may be wrong but before i had readings every 10 minutes now only every 30. i'm OK with that as it seems battery life which was always good is now even better.

Made me look up mine. Still every 10 mins for most of the day apart from workouts. Once a 20minute gap, and once an almost 3 hour gap!

I was pretty much at my desk for most of that 3 hrs, I wonder if it was a bug, or maybe if the motion sensor detects low movement it slows down the sampling rate.

I'm going with bug.

I do agree that the wrist to turn on time is improved, as well as Siri, but unlike others, both the Glances and the 3rd party apps (even Apples own 1st party weather app) seem un-improved.

They did upon initial reboot after the upload, but after 12 hours of screwing around, I am back to a spinning ball on both glances and 3rd party apps.

I wish I was seeing what you all are seeing as far as those improvements.

A friend of mine had this. He spoke with Apple and all he had to do was de-pair and then re-pair his phone and watch through the Apple Watch app on his iPhone.

See if that helps?

My update failed. I started the install then fell asleep on the couch 15ft away from my desk. When I woke up 30min later my watch had a red exclamation point and a URL on the screen (apple.com/help/watch). It suggests doing a force restart which I did multiple times to no avail. I did a support chat which walked me through the same steps again. Finally I was told to make an appointment at an apple store. I'll update after my appointment today ;P

This was happening with me before the update and still continues after. Personally, even though it'll flash on my phone first, I just wait a few seconds for it to appear on the watch and then read it.
