Don't you think they should have indicated that where it says the watch must be charging? Oh yeah... Also wifi, for some reason. LOL

Agree, but anyway, here is the capture from the webpage.

Haptic seems a fraction more powerful, and I hear a rattle now where before I did not. (I run in silent mode always, prominent on, haptic at max) Would rather hear it than miss it.

Snappiness and touchscreen response VASTLY improved. Should have shipped like this, mine was claggy, unacceptable and well below Apple standards. Still a bit to go, but makes this feel like a major hardware upgrade. I found that I simply had to pause a second or two before trying to press a button on a new screen - starting a workout was a mess as it would not register taps quickly. I can now start a workout in a few seconds, tap-tap-tap rather than tap........... tap............tap..... The time I have to wait before hitting a freshly drawn button seems under half a second, not 2 seconds. Much better for dismissing alarms.

Hitting wrong app icon has gone from 40% of the time to 5%. YAY. But still too small icons, and frequent ignored taps. (better than wrong taps I guess)

App loading times now average 2-4 seconds on first run, and never longer. Hugely better. Gone from an unusable joke to just crap. Bring on native Apps.;)

First walk with heart rate - always showed me correct rate - 1.0 would show me half my actual rate about half the time, and often had greyed out rate and looked like it was not getting a reading. Promising.

Siri much better, and today sets reminder about Pluto "in 8 weeks" correctly. They still need to get something on screen quicker to acknowledge when you say Hey Siri, rather than the black for a second that makes you think it turned off and missed

Raise to wrist SO much better, quicker, and even now works lying down in bed about 90% of the time, up from 10%.

Still has bug where Reduce motion disables Crown scrolling intermittently.

Update took about 15 minutes. (no songs)

Run, don't walk to get this update. It is a dramatic usability improvement - look on the bright side folks still waiting for your Watch - you skipped some crap.

Siri making the screen go black is a HUGE misstep. Makes me think the screen has turned off EVERY SINGLE TIME. It's funny how many of us here can notice something like this within minutes of getting our shiny, new Apple Watches, but Apple can't notice it in - what.... at least 9 months of playing with them since they were first demoed? Hell, it took about 9 months for Apple to realize the iPhone 6 Plus displaying the home screen upside down was stupid (finally resolved in 8.3), so I suppose nothing surprises me these days...

It would be funny if there were literally no changes with this update and this was some sort of twisted psychological experiment by Apple to see how powerful the placebo effect is.

Yeah, the android kids would really love that.

yah, faster turn on times at better angles for me.

and quicker Siri response.

I love my apple watch!

My update is taking forever to download. I guess the system is being inundated with a bunch of updates right now. I have a fast internet connection and I'm one hour into the download and not even half way downloaded.

Kudos to Apple, this first update seems like it does more than we'd expect from a .01.

There is still a long way to go, but this first effort gives me great hope for the immediate future.

The bluetooth headphone bug seems to be fixed. That was my biggest complaint! My suspicion is that it was connected to the fact that the watch wasn't connecting by wifi network, only direct wifi when bluetooth was off, as that bug also appears to be fixed.

The only other issue I had was unreliable playlist syncing. I haven't tested that yet but if they fixed that I'll be ecstatic.

Update not appearing

Ok, so this is annoying. Been waiting all day to update due to work. Now I get home and it's showing no update on the app in the iPhone.

I am on wifi. My watch is right next to my phone and both are plugged in.

I tried resetting the Watch app and nothing. Reset both the watch and phone and still showing up to date with 1.0. WTF?

Not sure if it's been mentioned in this thread yet but the screen is much more eager to come on when you raise your wrist. You also don't have to perform such a pronounced movement. Guess apple realised that it's ok for the screen to come on with smaller movements. It also does it with less of a delay.

also means that the screen turns on much more often when not looking at it, will have to see what that means for battery life

What's interesting is, at least on 1.0.1, if you remove the charger right after you first put the charger on, the screen changes from "84% charged" to "84% remaining", similar to your wish. However, after charging for a couple of seconds, removing the charger no longer shows this screen.

I wonder why..

I would prefer to see the screen again when I take the watch off the charger so I know how much juice I have.

I know for certain that I had the 4th page of standard emojis before the update.

Whats odd is for the first few days that I had the watch, I don't remember seeing them (I could have just missed them) but a couple weeks ago was when I first discovered them. I wonder if they could have been added to the watch without an update.

Haha, me too! I only saw the smiley and the heart, and didn't see the hand or the standard emojis. When I found them (somehow my emoji page defaulted to them without my selecting it), I just assumed I must have missed them the first time.

Does anyone know or understand how the update now allows for measuring calories for indoor cycling. Is there a specific setting?

There is a specific setting. I'm not sure how they're calculating, other than that it will likely be primarily HR-based. I can't see it having a movement factor unless when you select the workout it tells you to put the watch on your leg, LOL.

Am I the only one that can't get this update? My iPhone keeps saying "watch OS 1.0 Your software is up to date" I have a Space Grey iPhone 6 128gb. and a 42mm Apple Watch Sport. I am running iOS 8.4 beta 3.

I had two apps that would not show up on watch app or on watch. ESPN and Reninders Nano. Contacted developer and apple. Restarted and reinstalled etc. score mobile also always forced closed. Score mobile is fixed and both other apps magically appeared and work now.

Same here. I wonder if it's the iOS beta.
