hmm, obviously you have to add all your cards again in the re-pair process, I did get emails for all of mine telling me that my card has been enabled for Apple Pay ... good luck with the unpair/re-pair, it a p.i.t.a.
I did a reboot last night before charging to 50% before sleeping, the charged in the morning.

Off the charger at 10am and things are looking better than yesterday. Will see if I make it through the night, which I was with 7.0.1, before I unpair/pair

I get it that some are getting better results after an unpair/pair, but really, why do we have to resort to doing that? It's not hard, but having to setup and re-authorize Credit cards is getting old.

Some people don't have any battery problems some other have.
It's the same hardware, the same software, but you can have a specific setting or corrupted config file, or something else that can make a process take a lot of CPU and eat battery.
Unpair/repair cleans all the caches and resets all from scratch.
In some cases, it helps ...

From Backup? Or setting up as new?

I wholeheartedly agree, I went thru that process ... Apple screwed up majorly on watchos7 ...

I re-paired from backup, successfully ...

Restore from backup and if it doesn’t work, from scratch...
The problem can also come from the iPhone...
If something trigger continuous sync between the devices, it can eat a lot
Exactly. The latter is what I’ve seem to have experienced. It was only after unpairing the watch, reinstalling the iPhone (backup) and then re-pairing my problems were solved.
I sincerely hope it might help others as well.

I hadn’t really had any battery problems with my Series 6 up until today (I have the latest update, by the way). I charged it last night and have done just a short 35 minute outdoor walk workout. Other than that, I’ve not touched it. I usually go to bed with it on 70% or something but I just vibrated (at 9pm) saying it was on 10%. Not sure what’s caused that.

when I updated to 7.0 I had no issues for 5 days, battery life was like watchOS 6 ... I had to do the unpair/re-pair

My new S6 is currently on its 5th charge cycle and under 7.01, i was losing 2.5 to 3% an hour which was in line with my old S5 so couldn't complain. Having upgraded to 7.02, i wore my watch out last night with the usual AOD on, wash hands off and after 4 hours, I was still on 92% with very light usage so 7.02 has improved it further.

Mine seems to be lasting a good day plus - in terms of the wifi does it only try to connect to a known network if the phone is not within BT distance ?

If I am not ever going to have it on its own outside is there any advantage in leaving the WIFI switched on outside ? I presume at night if I wear it in bed I currently have it it on theatre mode but would there be any advantage in using airplane ?

Wifi and cellular connectivity is activated only when you lose BT connection (iPhone far from the watch). First it tries wifi, then cellular (if available).
So it doesn't tax the battery when you watch is near your phone.

Ah got ya but if my phone is off or on airplane mode or just too far away it will just dial into any available wifi that it has previously been on ? At home then on my wifi my phone is almost redundant in this process ?

Couple days on 7.0.2 and I can confidently say my battery life is back to normal. Going to bed with 50% at 10:30 after 15 hours off the charger.

Good luck to those still experiencing issues.
Before updating to watchOS 7.0.2, were u facing battery drain issue? If yes, then what was ratio actually per hour?

After the latest release (AW 7.0.2.), my AW kept on draining. When I charged it to 100%, it dropped within the hour to 85-90%, with afterwards some severe drops during the day (normal usage, not even workouts). Imagine this during my workouts... ;-)

As I was fed up with it, I've (once again) decided to unpair the AW.
However, after unpairing the watch, I've immediately reinstalled my iPhone (from backup) as well and then re-paired the AW.
4h further, my AW still has 84% juice left, so this might 've actually helped me out.

Don't know what might 've caused it, but my iPhone has also gained some significant change in speed/reactiveness. Perhaps some bad indexing in the background?
Either way, I'll keep an eye on it during the next days and will share my impressions.

The unpairing - reinstalling -re-pairing is perhaps a tip for others as well.
This actually same thing like me. But the difference is I resetted both iphone & watch but the issue is same as earlier. Per hour drain almost 8-10%

That is probably the most sensible solution that I’ve read. Because of the watches dependency on the phone for apps and mirroring, I have no doubt that there is constant syncing going on in the background between the two devices. If a phone app that also works on the watch is badly coded or is caught in a loop or has bad cache management, it can have a huge effect in the small battery in the watch. Any power drain wouldn’t be so noticeable on the phone,

Have you tried just sticking your watch on the charger for 24 hours close to your phone and letting it sync in the background. Just in case there are any tasks so it’s trying to do
While on charger, battery also drains if i do any resetting/un-pairing or re-pairing activity. Apple called for last 3 days & gathered all information & also health diagnosis & forwarded to Engineering team. Hopefully will get a feedback by this week.

That’s not healthy at all. Call Apple and get them to run a diagnostic check on your watch as you might have a battery issue
Unfortunately I experience the same draining once again. 😕
Will unpair and re-pair once again in the hope it might help. I don’t know what to change anymore. I can’t even use it for a day and I don’t even use AOD, not background refresh. No idea why it drains.

Have you removed or 3rd party apps. You might wanna set the watch up again as new and try that. I know it’s a pain in the ass to do that but if you do that then you have a virgin watch with no apps and then check the power drain. If it’s better then it’s obviously an app that’s causing the issue if not then it still might be hardware issue. My money is on either an app on your watch or an app on your phone and that is also operating on your watch such as a notification. I.e eBay or something like that.
It’s a process of elimination to find out where the problem is

Yes it was a bit worse prior to 7.0.2. Closer to 4% per hour. Still getting through the day, but not as much wiggle room if I were to do a longer workout.
