THANK YOU. You don't know (actually, you do) what a relief this is.

Thank you for risking your hairs first, but damn you as I have no watch! :D

Feel for you! But at least when you do you won't be yelping in public every time you raise your arm and say 'Hey Siri'.

Imagine if Breitling had made the bracelet for Apple #

Do the links have to be removed in any specific pattern? This will be my first link bracelet so I'm clueless. Lol.

No, each is the same and unlike any link bracelet I know of? So you can just remove any combo of the 'removable' links.

They are very easy to remove but as far as I can see they can't come loose unintentionally (I have tried).

Question for you all who wear watches often, this is the first real nice watch I have ever owned. I just got my link bracelet today and would like to hear from you guys how I should maintain it. What is the proper way to clean it, stuff like that?

I've worn a black metal bracelet for maybe seven years now, there's nothing super particular that I find I need to do. I just lay out a microfiber cloth, maybe moisten it with the little bit of water, and wipe the bracelet down. I've never needed any soap or anything, just water. Perhaps others can chime in if maybe they polish theirs with anything from time to time. This one will be particularly easy to clean if you remove it from the watch and lay it down flat. I tend to avoid chlorine pools and salt water, even if my watch is very waterproof, but if I do take a dip, I'll be sure to rinse the whole watch pretty well with water right when I get out.

Recieved mine today as well. Each side has 6 removable links. They appear to all be the same size.

I tried removing 1 from each side, but it was just slightly too snug. So I just removed one from one side and it's slightly too loose. Good news is, even slightly loose it doesn't appear to affect the wrist sensor as I haven't needed to type in my passcode since I put it on.

so that's a total of 12 links that could be removed? My wrist is 140MM - that's the reason I didn't order one b/c when I saw it in the store (they wouldn't remove any links for me) it wouldn't fit. I was told a total of 6 links could be removed and that still wouldn't fit. However my milanese bracelet fits and the small modern buckle fit and that is listed to be the same size as the 38 MM SS link.

BTW - I just did a chat with the Apple Store and they said they couldn't confirm how many links could be removed - WTF??

Cheers,
B

I have the 38mm one and I think it's a total of 8 that can be removed. I have about a 160mm wrist, maybe a little smaller, and I took all of them out but 2, I'm pretty sure.

Right on the US Apple Store, for the 42mm it says Fits 140–205mm wrists.

For the 38mm it says Fits 135–195mm wrists.

So, the question really is, which looks better on your wrist? Looks like you have your pick. (though, if you lose any weight, the 42mm may get loose on you) :)

8 links can be removed. 4 at each end.

I have a few different watches with stainless steel bracelets. I typically just spray some water on a microfibre cloth and wipe the bracelet down. Sometimes I use some eyeglass cleaner to spray on the crystal and wipe that down with a microfibre clot, also works on the bracelet if there is anything on there. Most of my watches with stainless steel bands are lightly scratched, but I have never really cared enough to polish them out.

If you're unsure and you have enough room on your CC, you could just order both and send the one back that doesn't fit as well. You have 14 days (appears that's actually 14 business days) to review the watches and return the one you don't want.

Just a thought...

Go to the Apple Store and look at the 3d view of the AW w/ Link Band. Turn it around so you can see the inside of the band and count:) All removable links have a button on them. I have 6 on each side with a button. I haven't removed all 6 from each side, but it seems possible.

I'm a watch collector and have many traditional mechanical automatic watches with stainless steel bracelets.

I will wash the bracelets with an old soft bristle toothbrush and mild liquid hand soap under running water.

For scuffs/daily wear marks on the bracelets I find that a green scotch brite pad will restore the brushed finish if gently wiped down the length of the bracelet in the same direction as the factory brushed finish. I use this for my Omegas and other higher end watches. You could also order a fiberglass pen for taking out minor scuffs but I find it takes a lot longer.

For polished surfaces such as the sides of the case I would recommend either a small amount of automotive mag/aluminum polish or Maas Polish and a microfiber cloth or a Cape Cod cloth. The Cape Cod cloth is pretreated with a mild metal polish and will restore a mirror like shine to most polished metal surfaces.

For watch care related info I would recommend that you seek out some of the watch collector forums.

Hmm, they're now shipping the SS link bracelet; they have been shipping the SS 42" watch....

Maybe the hangup is a backlog of printing the fancy boxes?

I actually ordered the 38 MM SS with milanese because I was concerned that would be the only band that would fit - luckily I received my watch on launch day. I love it but really prefer a link bracelet. I will have to visit my local Apple Store and inspect the 38 MM link bracelet - I'm now thinking I was shown the 42 MM version although the rep assured me it was the 38 MM.

I definitely don't think I could do the 42MM - the 38 fits perfect enough - the watch face itself covers my entire wrist.

Thanks for the suggestions folks :)

Cheers,
B:cool:

Just trying to add logic as to why the 42" SS-LB have had no movement for an earlier than promised date, as Apple once claimed.

Sorry, if I wasn't clear

the only reason now I can think of is .. Tim Cook and his executive team are themselves polishing the watches ... to give a personal touch ! blah !

Just ordered a 42mm Link Bracelet

Hi all - Just ordered a 42mm Link Bracelet last night. It still showed May delivery, and my order is processing. Wonder when if May is still accurate and a reasonable delivery expectation?

Would appreciate any and all feedback.

Thanks!

You shouldn't have any problems getting the bracelet by itself. It's getting the bracelet together with the watch that's been challenging.
