It would be nice if they would make it so that people could design their own watch faces with a simple builder interface on the phone, but of course that will never happen.
Oh, please, no.
Have you ever seen one of those barely usable Android phones with custom icons and huge comic sans letters? That’s the kind of thing that Apple wants to avoid on devices developed by arguably the best designers available.
It affects their image too. It’s the reason why you can buy a cheap plastic watch with your partner’s picture printed on it and not a Rolex.

They could do something completely radical and unprecedented and make media synching actually work. Pop your Watch on the charger, sync Podcasts, music and books reliably (1st and 3rd party apps) and with a progress bar to check.

And if they wanted to summon the ultimate display of courage they could make mail and messages sync and delete properly too.

Too big for my tiny wrist. I love my 4 but it’s gonna suck when it stops getting software updates.
This is the problem with the ultra. How can women wear this? It must look and feel heavy and used for running or working out. I can't see this for small women or even larger using this. It looks like a Bandi game watch. I work out with my 4 and it's 44 sizes. I can't see using the Ultra for studio classes. My weightlifting instructor has an ultra but he is really big and full of muscles. Good call!

They really need to improve smart replies for text messages. All you get are extremely basic canned replies (“yes“, ”no”, “can‘t talk right now”) that are always the same and not even context sensitive. Google, Microsoft and other have all had very good predictive text in emails and other apps for years now. Surely Apple can offer a better automated way to respond to texts from the wrist. It’s been really odd to me that they haven’t addressed this after 9 versions of watch OS, while it was something they advertised with the first Apple Watch. Hopefully OS 10 will be the one.

This is Apple. They will say the reason they don’t offer this is because of privacy. Your privacy is really important to them.

It is also is because they don’t have the technology and the competition is way ahead. See Siri and Maps.

But still privacy, that’s iPhone!

Don’t use them if you don’t want to, but this is a ridiculous stance anyway since you can currently set a picture as your face, and this is used as a workaround to have custom faces (but being just a picture and not an actual watch face this is far more damaging to apple’s image than a custom face, as this is not the best user experience and in fact it looks and behaves quite amateurish).

for standing, i needed to learn how the watch thinks. when i get out bed in the morning it always picks up that as having stood. but it seems as the day goes on, i need to actually move around more for it to record as a standing hour. it of course never counts only just standing as "standing"; i always need to actually move around quite a bit before it records as having stood, most typically needing some arm movements while moving around.

on the issue of a big software update for the upcoming watchOS 10, im looking forward to it. should be good.

I think the watch looks for lots of movement that it can interpret as walking (presumably with stairs or changes in location), but as you have found, standing still (or moving within a small space) whilst moving your arms (e.g. cooking) doesn't always meet the criteria. As well as this I think it looks for when your arm is down by your side (via the orientation sensor) as when you are sitting you arms tend to be horizontal (typing on keyboard, resting on desk/seat arm etc).

If I needed to register an stand hour I used to march around my apartment, but it often didn't work, but now I can just stand and put my arm down by my side and it works every time. I can even cheat and drape my arm over the side of a chair when sitting to register a stand hour! Now, if Apple could just stop logging stand hours when I'm asleep...

I would prefer that Apple stop restricting some features to the United States region and English language, especially for the users outside the United States and whose language is not English. One neat feature is calculating the tip instantly in the Calculator app. Yet, it's not available in other regions and languages.

Apple seems to forget that many of us visit the United States for pleasure, education, or business, and it's pain in the neck to switch the regions and languages every time. Or sometimes, we want to use this tip feature to figure out the 15%-20% discount...

Another thing Apple needs to improve is the sound detection feature. It can get too chaotic, alerting me to different sounds that have no relevance in my safety or that don't match the sound (my hearing friends told me it's wrong half of times).

I've had 2 Apple Watches, a Series 6 and now the Ultra - The 6 in Stainless was more of a dress watch but I have been enjoying the Ultra however it needs to offer me more health and exercise insights i.e. running which it falls far short of compared to Garmin. Given the data available to the watch Apple are missing a trick here.

Also the noise level alerts - give me the option to tell the watch I am wearing hearing protection thank you.

I am kind of waiting for WWDC but my next watch will likely be a Forerunner 965 and I will forego the LTE or become one of those oddbods that wear 2 watches.

Gosh, that was an analogy.

I want just one thing: I want my Apple Watch to wirelessy sync from Apple Music in MacOS, not have to go through the rigamarole of opening Watch App / Music / Add Music / Find Playlists blah blah blah on my phone.

Gurman said minimal hardware changes are planned for the next Apple Watch models, so watchOS 10 will apparently be a major focus this year.
I have the Series 4 still. I‘ve been waiting for the typical hardware upgrade of longer battery life and better performance. I realize the Ultra does that, but the Ultra just seems big for my daily use.
I feel like the processor in the regular watch hasn’t had a true upgr in years.

On a different note, I’d really like Walkie-Talkie to work.

thanks.
one of the things im hoping will eventually be considered and implemented by apple in this app regarding stand time is for us to be able to actually set the number of minutes needed to qualify for that stand hour. right now, its simply set at a minimum of 1 minute per hour. but a majority of health professionals seem to indicate that more time per hour not sitting is beneficial. it would be nice if we could set it, for example, at 8 or 10 minutes per hour in order to qualify for a "stand" hour.

Why do we never address the “Elephant”? It’s ridiculous that you can only delete one text conversation at a time from your watch. Like, no delete all? Or Select option? That, in my opinion, is the most inefficient detail of the Apple Watch.

This is probably not a popular take, but I’d like to see more character faces. When the watch first came out, the Mickey/Minnie and Toy Story faces were fun.

We haven’t seen anything since. The “artsy” watch faces are so boring. Being able to see a new Toy Story character every time you raise your wrist, or tap and hear Mickey’s voice was fun.

How about a Ted Lasso face with different characters? How about Star Wars? How about a Steve Jobs face with quotes from him?

Make the Apple Watch Fun Again.

So when you say 'elephant' you mean a minor annoyance, yeah? The Apple Watch was never designed to take over full control of your messages. It is meant for notifications and it’s a bonus that you can do basic replies on it.

Can we also have complications on everything please. There are far too many watch faces which don't have the option or will only allow you say 2 complications even though there is plenty of space available. I should be able to overlay say 4 on every watch face.

I use my watch as a workout/fitness tracker first, and the smartwatch features are in third place, at best.

I just want more running features, and a separate trail-running vs. road-running option. The times are completely different and the two can't be easily compared, so instead I use Strava. How about a real virtual running partner, like Garmin has had for years?

I would like more than 8gb storage for music and podcasts, but I can deal. No point in getting the cellular version as the majority of my runs in wilderness areas with zero cell service, from any carrier.

Wear your watch on your right wrist. No need to be without your watch for a week.
I have it there too. 😔

Like bad enough on BOTH WRISTS that I can't wear it.

I also have it on my chest, my legs, my shoulders, my abdomen.

It's been brutal
