I 100% agree with you! The swipe right gesture would have been so much better to switch between apps. Hope we'll see it in the future.
This scenario always bothers me: I'm running, have the activity app open then quickly want to go to currently playing music. The moment I have to start pushing buttons it does distract me too much from looking at the road.
I'm sorry, but are you doing this while driving?

I have a special amount of disgust for people who use their gadgets when they're supposed to be driving.

(besides that, I'm probably with zhenya about making it too easy to switch faces. In 1 and 2, Force Press is easy, and it acts as a sort of safety switch -- you couldn't accidentally swipe away a face because you had to FP first. I'll update to OS 3 by the weekend. Does Force Press do anything on a watch face now in 3?

No, he's talking about when running. And I agree with him. I have the same problem when I run with it, it's very difficult to switch between apps on the fly. The swipe to switch gesture would have been perfect here. Force pressing still brings you to the old watch face screen where you can change, edit and remove faces.

how many apps have you got running in the dock ?
did you un-pair and re-pair your watch ?
I have the apps that transferred over from OS 2.2, perhaps too many, and I didn't unfair and repair the watch. If this can help, I'll try it.

This is the second thread where you complain about users but you haven't read their posts properly. The other was the barometer in the apple watch thread. Maybe you have good intentions but so far threads seem to get derailed after you post.
[doublepost=1473873654][/doublepost]Upgraded to OS 3 last night so still acclimatizing. I've noticed increased battery drain so far. 8 docked apps so far. Wondering if it's that or whether the phone does the heart rate check more often because of the breathing app.

I've been running WatchOS 3 for about a week now. Not real thrilled with the battery life. I put it on about 7 am and usually take it off for the day around 10pm. Where before I was ending the day with about 35%, now I am usually at or even below 10%. I was expecting some hit in battery life, which I would gladly take for the more responsive apps in the dock. But this is cutting things close. I checked the apps I had in the dock, as I believe I read that apps that had not been optimized for OS 3 could cause problems. I removed all non-Apple apps. Same issue.

Did I read correctly here that unpairing/re-pairing might help?

You still have to force press a given face to edit or customize elements

Argh how do you now force quit an app? I just inadvertently started the emergency call lol. I'm seeing no difference on OS3. Workflow Home ETA still won't send a text message (broken in slightly indifferent way to 2), and I'm not feeling the love for a snappier UI. Jury's out on the battery for a few days, but currently sat at 38% since being on for about 12 hours, so normal for me (38mm).

Last step Force hold the crown long enough and the app disappears is the key.

It did help with fast drain in the past after updates to the OS ... maybe it could help again this time after upgrading to watchOS 3.

I had to Apple stock app running in the dock ... and when I closed it ... I have seen less battery drain ... maybe apps that allways check for new data and are running in the dock ... end up killing the battery because of fetching new info constantly ??

This update has definitely (for me) made the watch much more useful. I didn't think I would like scribble as much as I actually do. I knew I would find it convenient, but I enjoy using it.

Solid update.

Two question if someone wouldn't mind:

1) I miss the live "pace" on workouts (walking for example). There is no live pace. Am I missing something or is it truly gone?

2) How do you like the dock instead of the glances? I personally miss glances. I thought it was natural, and the old "friends," button always seems cheap to me and most of them even make a high pitch sound, I don't like pushing it and now you have to push it regularly for the dock (closest thing to glances).

Thanks! Otherwise, it's a fine little update!!!

I love the new fitness watch face fam, and I actually enjoy switching between watch faces over a lot of your desired quick app switch. Usually I'm only ever using two apps at a time (maybe workout + music, or a timer + regular watch face) which the double tap home button accomplishes for quick switch.

So the watch face swap is pretty nice if I want to see what time the sun is going down or something just swipe to the right to the sun setting face. Or I'm about to workout, swipe and get dat sweet fitness watch face. Plus I feel like it's actually very hard to 'accidentally' switch watch faces since the interaction isn't really like an iPhone. All in all, everything does seem a lot faster and I feel like I am getting value for buying a gen 1 product early since they continue to support it and make it better, rather than the typical "planned obsolescence" schtick.

Thank you! I wonder why I'm an odd ball in terms of glances? I thought they worked great! Always there.

The dock, again, I just feel the old "friends," button isn't heavy duty enough to be used to regularly and even the sound of that button I hate. ha-ha.

I just noticed that the Activity Rings now count activity reported by 3rd party apps. Nice to see this as they are finally meaningful to me - all my Strava activities from the last couple of days have shown up in there - even stuff done with my Garmin watch alone but synchronized to Strava. The Health App is a bit more confusing now on the iPhone, but the Activity one is a bit better. Now they just need to give us a web interface!!

Installed it last night and started playing with it today.

This is the shiznit. Really good so far.

yes, os 3 is great. feels like a new watch without upgrading the hardware. fwiw this what i do with the app dock and watch faces: i add all the apps i use regularly to the dock. with the modular face, add complications related to apps you would use the most and save. now whenever you need a certain app, just swipe to the modular face and tap the complication instead of using the dock button. i feel like this is more streamline.

I appreciate how swiping between faces works, too: instead of simply accepting any sideways swipe from any point, it has to register a fully edge-to-edge swipe. Difficult to do by accident, yet easy to do on purpose. I like it better than I thought I would.

A little tip for anyone else -- the second thing I do after any major update is go through the Settings to see what changed. Saves me the embarrassment of asking, "How do I …" and getting an all-too-easy answer (go to Settings and you'll see it, moron).

This scenario always bothers me: I'm running, have the activity app open then quickly want to go to currently playing music. The moment I have to start pushing buttons it does distract me too much from looking at the road. Especially since the two times press of the crown doesn't work reliably for me to switch between the music and the running app, even though I accessed them a number of times back and forth via the dock. Instead it sometimes just takes me to a random 3rd app next to the activity app.

Really wished they made a complication that included currently playing controls along with running data. Then I wouldn't have to worry about switching between the sceeens.

Honestly, amazing with OS3. Like new.

And I calibrated my watch with one (1!) run of about 6 miles (carried my phone), and yesterday my run was within .1 miles of the GPS data and that included me using auto-start/stop, which I hate and usually detracts from my accuracy. Going to bring this thing on all my easy runs without worrying the distance is too far off. Fantastic!

Loving the update! Having apps launch so quickly is a game changer. I'm definitely reaching for my Apple Watch more often now. Also, Siri is quite a bit more responsive, which has me using it more. Overall, it feels like a new Watch!

Edit: Crap! I have to take a lot of what I said below back! I just tried it and Apple still messed up with Now Playing! It DOESNT act like an app at all... you can't even double-tap the crown to switch back to it! Damn it!

One thing I didn't like about Glances is that there was no way to make them "permanent". The moment you put your wrist down they went away. Really annoying if you were trying to keep up with something (sports scores, currently playing songs, etc). Every time you raised your wrist you had to flick the glance back open.

Now Glances have become true apps... so they honor the Wake Screen setting for how long an app should stay open. Much better!

For people trying to do a quick switch between Workout and Now Playing... I second the suggestion about double-tapping the crown to toggle between two apps. Works brilliantly (and is another thing that didn't work with Glances... they weren't apps so you couldn't switch right back to the Now Playing Glance... drove me crazy!)

What a bummer. It's almost perfect.
