I played with the Hiking workout in Beta 1. It was pretty nice. We hiked Mount Si got all the way to the top and my watch said it was @ 10% left (it wasn't 100% when we started). I turned off the workout and the watch said it was @ 1% all the way down, and on the way home... Maybe that has been ironed out in this beta.

This weekend we're going to hike Bandera Mountain, and I'm going to try Gaia GPS for the first time.. I wonder if the app is integrated with Activity and what not?

Anyone one having an issue with Apple Pay with the latest update? When I double click to bring up the card (as I have always done) nothing happens. Anyone else experiencing this?
Series 3 AW, watch OS - 5, Beta 2.
Thanks

My solution: Just open wallet on your iPhone/Apple Watch. Now it works fine again.

Anyone having their Siri watch face blank, and when you put it on your wrist it gets populated by stuff. Also some wonky charging and charge status.

I have never used Gaia. I just learned about it the other day. I’ll let you know how it goes.

I mean from Hiking Workout. Curious if it’ll show Elevation Gain or we have to wait for new watch for that.

Is anything severely broken in beta 2 or can it be used without any major crashes on a series 3?

Is Raise to Speak working for anyone on this beta? I can't seem to get Siri on my watch at all. It's always my phone that she pops up on with Hey Siri and raising my wrist and speaking does nothing.

Hey Siri and Raise to Speak are both turned on in Watch settings.

Not really sure what you mean by integrated with Activity. Are any 3rd-party apps? AFAIK, Gaia doesn’t communicate or share data with Activity. Good luck on Bandera, great hike and should be a good bit cooler this weekend!

Nike Run Club will send data to the activity app. But since Gaia is essentially just a GPS app I doubt it would share data? Perhaps I'll just start another workout to track the stats.

I'm glad the weather has turned a bit today, and you're right, the weekend looks much cooler. We're heading out on Saturday morning for Bandera / Mason Lake, and are planning on camping overnight. Should be a great time!

So has anyone else completed and won a week-long Activity "Competition"?

I, along with an Apple Watch wearing friend, both upgraded our watches to watchOS5 and went through a week-long competition (of which, I handily won, but that's another story). I got a notification on the watch, but I still see empty/outlined awards on the awards section of the Activity app. Like I haven't participated nor won yet - but I've done both!

Anyone else get a different result?

How has the beta been running for both of you? Good enough as a daily driver or have you encountered any annoying issues?

For me (I'm still on an S2), I'd say yes. Here's what I've found:

Battery Life: I used to end the day with about 50% left on a charge, now it can drop into the 20s.

The Walkie Talkie app, IMO, is a gimmick, of which you will tire of after 5 minutes...

Siri Watch face - getting better. It needs an admin page where you can define what kinds of things you'd like the watch face to bias/show more of...

Thanks so much for your response! Very happy to hear its working so well. I don't mind some hits to the battery as long as it makes it through a single day. I have an S3 so I think I should be fine.

Btw, not sure if you know this but you can manage the data sources for the Siri watch face. You can toggle what you want and don't want to appear by tapping on the watch face in the Watch app.

On the 1st Beta Exercise Minutes were way off, this was noted as fixed in Beta 2. I guess I shouldn't have moved last week, I lost all of that Exercise credit. lol I can confirm that it seems to be working now. S3 LTE here.

Awesome! Well, not awesome about losing the exercise data lol but happy to hear that's fixed. Sounds like beta 2 is safe to use then, I hope lol

Like I said last night...the gps got stuck after 3 km of running and I did 8 km.
Swimming was worse today. After just one lap the watch showed 5 laps and by the end of the 18 laps workout the watch was showing 50!!! Beta 2 not reliable for sports.
SS3

I have also bad battery life. Reseted several times. No impact. 50% within one day. Usually it was 30..
I know it is still beta. Hopefully Apple is aware of this...

I also am seeing a major battery decline. Normally by the end of the day I am around 65% today I am 45%. I am going to chalk that up to having walker talkie enabled and available all day and see what happens tomorrow with availability turned off.

Update: Today with walkie talkie mode availability set to off i saw greatly increased battery life. After 12 hours I have lost 16%. Yesterday after the same period I had lost 3 times that amount. I was still able to received walkie talkie messages the exchange just was not instant and I needed to accept the chat first which IMO is way better in my work environment.
