Can any of the beta user tell if nested intervals are possible?

E.g. something like:

Warmup
Repeat 3 times
Repeat 5 times
Run fast
Jog
End Repeat
Jog
End Repeat
Cooldown

Thanks!
I’m currently on vacation in the hilly Corsica so really couldn’t try it out the other day - does Look like it’s possible though.

Must say the elevation view and heart rate zone view looks great!

Only from what is being observed by posters so far on here.
Only intervals no ground contact time/left-right bias etc. I'm not sure the accelerometer hardware have changed since the S4 so maybe just a software block on older models?

Can any testers give feedback how the new training app informs during intervals when pace targets are breached? Is it haptic and acoustic?
And how often does it trigger alarms?

Not sure if anyone else has this issue with the latest beta but when I am using a Time to Run and I get a notification the workout app pauses and the resumes over and over again. Nothing I do can stop it until I end the workout. This happened twice. I then did an indoor run (no time to run) and it was fine.

Wow... On Public Beta 2, I just had the first run yesterday with the "route" function racing myself. This was great, and one of the most motivating runs for a long time. It's not perfect though, as I selected a 7,51 km. loop I run. Because I ended the run at 7,54 when finished, it thinks it's a seperate route :) Still great though and the ongoing pacing throughout the run with visuals of how far ahead/behind I am is great!

Apple has a secret to add route overlays on Apple Maps ...
Not for other developers, sadly ... :(

Did my first workout yesterday afternoon with the new beta on my watch. Had an upper and lower heart rate set and enjoyed the alerts when I was low, in or higher than my targets. When I looked at the fitness app on my phone I didn’t find any info on stride length or power etc. are they included in the Las test beta version (if so where do I find them) or waiting for a later version

In the section with data for your run, you can press “show more”

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't think I am. I have the AW series 5. On my watch, I can't get alert options for several metrics (Ground Contact Time, Vertical Oscillation, Power or Stride Length). And when I go into the Fitness app on my phone and go to "Workout/Workout Details/Show More/Reorder (at the very bottom)", then I see that those metrics are greyed out and not available to be used in the view. At least that's how I take it.

I didn't know that those metrics required a certain level of AW...perhaps it needs 6 or 7 or higher only? Which is disappointing if true, since I don't recall seeing that mentioned anywhere.

Yes! This is really cool. I actually have to NOT use it sometimes because when I’m supposed to be running easy I am tempted to run faster.

How does the watchOS 9 app bring up the alerts? Sound/taptic/screen?

I appreciate this thread and pics about the Zones and other similar new info, it inspired me to do a run as I hadn’t for a while. The new info while and after running is pretty cool! Thanks.

Okay guys and girls. Just had a run today with the pacer mode. That was just amazing! Pretty damn cool with a slider showing how many seconds in front or behind

The new features are definitely a big step up for Apple. What would be awesome would be third parties building in running power and such into their apps to coach and provide real time feedback on running. I’m thinking something like a lower cost Stryde.

I think the two biggest things still sorely lacking from Apple’s native software is recovery and also general context/interpretation of the data. I wonder if they never intend to get into this space and want to let third parties fill the gap or if they just aren’t ready yet. Previously, I’d have leaned towards the former, but I didn’t at all think Apple was going to add running power, ground contact time, vertical oscillation, etc. Now I’m truly torn on what I think. It seems like it could go either way. The Series 8 could be a small indication of how far they want to go.

Yes recovery would also be interesting to have on board. Especially after tough days. Kind of silly, that my watch the morning after running a marathon starts out “Great day yesterday - let’s see if we can do it again”

Not an app but perfect for your purpose is runalyze. They have plenty of metrics they extract out of your runs. Especially around power. And this portal is free and can easily be supplied with runs from the Apple Watch, e.g. through RunGap or HealthFit.

Totally agree, it’s bizarre how extreme and single-minded the coaching often is, in terms of this “more more more” mentality with no rest days or rest/recovery considerations whatsoever. I wonder if Garmin is like this? From what I’ve learned it seems likely so. Fitbit and Apple definitely are. Same for the monthly challenges, “you did this last month, let’s extend that by ___“ and so on, almost every month. Even if I were in my teens or 20s that wouldn’t be super healthy, meanwhile the watch knows my (middle-) age, weight, height etc and doesn’t seem to take it into account at all. Oh well, it’s a technology perhaps still in its infancy…
Anyway, I’ve never run close to a marathon but I appreciate your post to know that it’s not my imagination, this lack of balance for rest periods in the technology “coaching.” It serves to remind me how along with embracing the watch’s prompts 50-80% of the time, it’s also good to ”let it go” in terms of not worrying about streaks or just taking the thing off for a day or a few hours at least.

I'm not running Watch OS 9, still Watch OS 8. I did a run in the heat yesterday (30C) and for the entire run (aside from a brief ramp up) my heart rate was at the max (172bpm).

If I understand correctly, Watch OS 9 will allow me to set target heart rate zones? So if my target is 140bpm, what happens when I'm exceeding that? Is there a notification from the Watch?

And does this work on the SE?

Sorry I don’t know the answers to these questions, I can only say that when I noted the heart rate zones yesterday while light jogging/walking, it was nice to glance at my wrist periodically to note that I had got to Zone 2 and 3, which for me personally, being active most days but not getting my heart rate up as much as I’d like, was a good reference and guide to help me get to, and stay in, some higher than usual heart rate ranges. Hopefully others can help about the SE question and setting a target, I’m not sure about that.
