I found Garmin's body battery did not really reflect the way I felt at all. I recently came back to Apple because the HR on my Epix was waaay off when I was doing activities and I don't want to have to use a HRM on a $1000

I am in the same boat pretty much. Trying to decide if my Fenix 7X is worth the money. Just trying to hold off until next month and use my AW7 in the mean time. The body battery is not always accurate, especially when the HR readings and sleep tracking is off.

In the watchOS 9 betas, is there an option to take a manual lap by pressing both buttons instead of double tapping the screen? I have a hard time double tapping the screen in the middle of a run. Most third party running apps, like WorkOutDoors, allow you to make in so pressing the buttons together takes a lap.

Update: Weather working now. Weird! Beta update is buggy in various ways, no regrets though! Usually...

Anyone else find no weather data today, after updating to the latest public beta about 2 days ago? It's weird. Multiple watch faces are not displaying weather info, meanwhile all other non-weather info displays fine, as usual. I tried sending this to apple.com/feedback and also tried turning watch off and on again. Makes me realize how much I use the watch for weather info! 🥺

EDIT: I deleted this post since realizing the thread is for running features. However, I re-added when after being unable to find any other Watch OS 9 threads. Will keep looking for them...

My weather is not working. Any tips?

Hmm, try turning watch off, then on again, using the side button. I don’t know if that worked for me today or not, as it was like at least 30 minutes to an hour later, before abruptly I noticed the watch weather was back after being gone most of the day. Good luck!

Anyone know if the ghost feature will work on the series 4? I’m running Betas on my phone and watch but this does not show up. It’s the one feature I really want. I run the same trail daily and this will be a game changer for me.

The Ghost feature has unfortunately been removed from the latest Beta - I absolutely LOVED it, so hopefully just to iron out a few bugs ..

I tried. No dice. TY, though.

I am also using Chipr, Stress Monitor and Gentler Streaks. Gave up on Athlytic. I really wanted my AW to be a do all device.

I’m not on the WatchOS beta and didn’t see a CHIPR thread, but how do you like Chipr? Would you recommend? Accurate?

I have Gentler Streaks and it’s decent. Sometimes it misses workouts but other than that no hiccups.

It is decent and free. I does often have problem finish updating though. Which is easily solved by killing it and try again. It might be a beta problem though, because in order to use watchOS beta I also have to use IOS beta.

Anyone on the new PB yet? Is the Ghost-Route run feature back?
It looks like only iOS update is available, not Watch OS. So no, the feature isn’t back 😕
EDIT: The update became available in the meantime. I’ve installed it but the ghost route feature isn’t there I’m afraid.

Just updated as well and damn… Really hope it’s not some bigger issue holding it back from release. Pretty cool feature

How would you program this run on Apple Watch? Can I, as on my Garmin, pre program it and run later today? Tried, but couldn’t find the solution 🙈

Create a Custom type of workout, and then keep adding Work (Distance) and Recovery (Time)..?

Sounds great 👍🏼 Looking forward to see it in action.
I have the AW7 and a couple of Garmins, and must admit for serious interval sessions, the Garmins are easier to use 🤷🏽‍♂️ Although, I really like the AW health part, cellular connection, Apple Pay and all the other smart features. Garmin have some of the features as well, but apple eco system just works.
How do you determine which watch to wear Garmin or Apple? I just recently purchased the Fenix 7x and I miss some of the Apple features.

Is the ghost run feature back?
I would really like to customize the other data fields in the heart rate zone coloured boxes page :(. I want to see the zones AND my pace, of course! Is it only me?

Can I ask why you purchased the Fenix?
I've had an Apple Watch since the first (have the s7 now) but have only recently got into running and am thinking about purchasing the Fenix solar 7 for the maps and recovery info.

I have the Fenix 7X SS and the AW7. I love the looks of the Fenix. However, I run 6 miles a day typically. The rest of the day it’s nice to have the smartwatch features. I just tend to change watches every once in a while. Honestly, the Fenix is probably way too much watch for 95% of runners unless you are running marathons or ultramarathons.

It’s a never ending dilemma. We can’t have it all. I’m always tempted between the two, but I just don’t think I can give up the integration of the Apple Watch.

Yes, I bought it primarily for fitness, it does have more fitness features compared to Apple Watch. I too have the Apple watch 7 (nike edition). I am still amazed that after one day worth of fitness activities (including GPS) that it only uses 1% of the battery.

totally agree with you, I sometimes wear both lol

I have a Fenix 5 and an Edge bike computer for running and biking, respectively, but I use the Apple Watch for everyday use. I just don't find the AW good enough when it comes to tracking my running or biking - it lacks battery life and it's not as rugged as the Garmin products. On the other hand my and my Fenix is just not a smartwatch and doesn't integrate very well into the Apple ecosystem.

I also find the Garmin Connect integration to Apple Health lacking. Instead, I'm using a third-party app called RunGap to synchronize activities. It works very well for me and I thought I'd link it here and maybe you guys will find it bridges the gap between the two ecosystems for you too.

I'm not affiliated with the app or its creator in any way. I'm just a happy user since many years.

I loved the race route feature and tried it just the once. It was super simple to use and accurate with about 10 feet of my normal finish line. Unfortunately I’m so competitive with myself I overdid it and triggered an old foot injury. Hopefully it’s back in a later version in time for my recovery!
