  • New Dock interface replaces honeycomb home screen (honeycomb home page gone? favorites button functionality gone? launches dock now)

That doesn't sound correct. The side button is used to access the all-new Dock whereas clicking the crown gets you to the honeycomb home screen.

Which leads to my question. If swiping from the bottom reveals Control Center, how to we access glances? Or does the all-new Dock replace glances?

who knows man. Guess we wait and see.

My understanding was that glanes is gone and the dock replaces it. But now the dock is full apps that are always in memory and always updating. You pick your favorites for the dock and everything else is closed and in the honeycomb.

Guys, about 3rd party watch faces, you all know that Apple will NEVER allow that right ? Apple has always been a closed environment, their OS' has always been lacking in custom ability, and always will be.

I'm impressed, but still a little confused about how glances, the honeycomb app drawer, and control center works. I would still like to have glances since I don't want my dock cluttered with all the apps that used to be in my glances.

I swear he said that they replaced glances with always on full apps(or something along these lines). I just can't find it in the video.

I wonder if this update will finally give the Watch that old Apple slickness and feel good factor? It's always felt hampered by its software design.

That sounds about correct. Apple seems to have gotten the message that apps in general are the weakest aspect of the AW so the all-new Dock is basically a more robust version of glances consisting of apps that we actually use.

So how to you access the 'honeycomb' apps now if 'honeycomb' is dropped? or is it how they showed it in the video? cant quite work that out. Is it just a longer list on the 'New Dock interface' that OP mentions.
What happens if you press the crown? I thought it was just the friends list that was replaced with the dock?

People used to say the same thing about iOS keyboards.

People always want to predict things after what was done before, but this is different. Apple knows they need lots of watch faces. I think it's only a matter of time.

Hi guys, if the honeycomb circles are gone and the button below the dial is now to select the apps, what happens when you now press the dial?

Am I missing something that I didn't hear on the WWDC?

Edit: sorry his has been answered already :)

Why is there now the idea that the honeycomb circles are gone? I didn't see anyone say that =/

The OP did and people are merely acting on that assumption, but I think it's incorrect because the side button rather than the crown brings up the all-new Dock. So the all-new Dock actually replaces glances, as swiping from the button now reveals Control Center.

If they removed that, they would need to replace it with something. There are only so many things you're going to want in the dock before it becomes cluttered.

Hence why I think the crown will still be used to access the honeycomb dock. They specifically said that clicking the side button now gets you to the all-new Dock.

Anyone able to install this yet? The speed improvements have me tempted to try the developer preview. Also does watchOS 3 work with iOS 9?

I believe you need to be on iOS 10 to run the beta. Also just like with watchOS 2 betas there is no way to downgrade to the previous stable version without shipping your watch to apple.

Negative. You have to be running to the latest OS for run either or. iOS10 makes the watch useless in terms of notifications and such unless you update to the latest watch OS

I finally got iOS10 installed and just now installing watchOS3. You definitely need iOS10 installed to get the new watch version. I noticed in the presentation that you can add complication(s) to the photo face, but it looked like only one so I will be trying that... however, looking at one of the activity ring watch faces was the most impressive to me.

What they showed on the watch was very impressive, but I will want to see how the battery drains and which of my apps that I use even work with the instant load. Not sure if they need to be re-written/updated to stay in memory all the time or if that is handled by the OS.
