You do realize that in the past they've changed the banners after the keynote aren't you? I don't mean uncovered them, they changed some completely during lunch Monday.

I'm loving this thread. A nice throw back to days before iOS, when OS X was front page and everyone had a great time discussing the beta's.

There were some really interesting features that never made GM, such as "Answering Machine" in iChat. Leaving a video away message, friends leaving one in return. Would have been great for the deaf. I wonder if 10.9 will introduce such features aside from iOS integration (which I don't mind, I'd just prefer more OS X focus).

Kind of hoping it also means they've "shed the fat," so to speak, and got rid of some stuff that was more bloat and hogging down the system.

Thin is clearly in.

I think the wave and possible switch to aquatic mammals relates to the "where a whole new world is developing". It's like comparing the big cats on land to the whole other world that exists under water.

Fun fact: "Neue", being German, is not pronounced "new", it's pronounced "no-ya" (or something close to that).

I think it's closer to "noi-yeh" phonetically. But I lost my 'consummate kraut' status a generation ago. :)

I can see it now.

Jony Ive: "use this slim X on a beautiful background of a wave and let the people on the Internet go nuts. Fools think it has some meaning but I just like waves..."

Absolutely agree, and I question the 'designers' who find this visually pleasing.

If you don't like minimalism, then why are you interested in a minimalist brand like Apple?

Perhaps a banner like 'this' might be more to your taste...

:D

Farnsworth: I'm sorry, Fry, but astronomers renamed Uranus in 2620 to end that stupid joke once and for all...
Fry: Oh. What's it called now?
Farnsworth: Urectum.

Well, the X does look like a cartoony anus if you drew a cat from behind. Except there's no cat any more, just the anus... I think I'm on to something here.

If Apple did that, they definitely would be copying Microsoft!
