My God, Apple is so unoriginal now. Not only does it stench of Microsoft, the X makes the picture look like it was meant to be crossed out.

Ironically, I think you're onto something... It's not the stench of Microsoft, but it is crossing something out... as in all of the aqua-jelly textured OS elements.

I'm liking the water theme... :D

Haha

I can see it now.

Jony Ive: "use this slim X on a beautiful background of a wave and let the people on the Internet go nuts. Fools think it has some meaning but I just like waves..."

British humor down to a T.

Brace yourselves on monday, "I'm gonna stick with Snow Leopard" comments are coming

But maybe there is some truth in this.
SL is quite special. I can't remember an "I'm gonna stick with ..." reaction with other OS X versions that lasts as long as the Snow Leopard case.

I never read " I'm gonna stick with Tiger" in 2009 (the release date of SL and also 2 years after the end of Tiger)

Itn's he only working on iOS software? I belive it is Craig Federighi working on OS X.

I like that guy actually. He seems a little bit embarrassed on the stage but he's very likeable and I have a feeling that the best parts of L & ML came from him (and his developers). Combine that with Ive's superb sense for design and we'll get something awesome.

For the reality TV fans out there...

Oh that's for OS X. It looked like surrealistic poster some Batman foe hoisted in a campaign to get rid of the ocean. Strikes me as minimalism one notch too tight. Just doesn't feel right. Maybe it will make sense Mon. Today it does not for me.

I hope this means 10.9 is gonna be released. Pleas don't disappoint me Apple.

It will be, eventually. First they need to push out developer only beta releases. Don't forget, Apple pulled a bunch of internal devs away from OS X so they could plow through iOS 7.

Because of this, it's pretty obvious there's going to be a push for the next iPhone (THE CASH COW) and possibly other iOS devices before OS X 10.9 is released.

Also, a reminder, the Retina MacBook Pro originally shipped with OS X Lion installed. Mountain Lion shipped later. So, don't think you won't see something like a MacBook Air refresh announcement (running ML 10.8.4) available immediately, and related announcements for the coming three to six months.

I wanted to use that font as a heading font on a website so much that I spent days tracking down a free near-clone that looked good in all caps (Lane, if you're curious), and it was totally worth it.

Thank you for the suggestion - just downloaded it. You rock. :)

If you ask me this also has a minimalistic style besides the waved background. Seems like there was some capacity left to also redesign parts of the new OS X, something I appreciate though.

New features, UI changes, and "iOS-ification" aside, here's the REAL question:

Will Apple re-implement the sweet "Welcome" videos? I really missed that in Lion and Mountain Lion.

Perhaps it's a reflection on the OS overall... you know you're getting a good OS when the first bootup comes with a snazzy tune and slick animations. :D
