My guesses:
Waves, Radio waves, iRadio
Water cooled Mac Pro (unlikely).
Ives is wet with excitement.
New fluid interface flows well.
Water looks cool.
They just like messing with us.

Not a fan of the white X. I would maybe have tried filling the X with the background image (obviously shifting it to create contrast) to see what the effect would be. As is, it looks too jarring—the X takes away from the beauty of the picture. Would have actually looked better with the original blue, aqua X; although, I realize that look has now passed.

If there's one thing I've discovered over the years, it's that Apple fans are incredibly bad at knowing what "looks like Apple".

This disgusting thing you're all complaining about now is next years "Apple nailed it with blah", and the thing you'll all be clinging to when Apple decides to change something up yet again.

They normally don't change it this quickly. Not only does this not look like anything else they do, but it looks bad in general. I hope I don't end up clinging to this... that would meant that whatever they have next is even worse.

Someone probably already responded because I'm really late reading this but it will be paid. Any major update (10.6, 10.7, 10.8, etc) is always a paid update (the last two have been around $30) and the other updates within those (10.8.3 for example is the one you got yesterday) are free because they are simply patches.

If you don't like minimalism, then why are you interested in a minimalist brand like Apple?

Perhaps a banner like 'this' might be more to your taste...

I don't mind minimalism as long as it's not ugly. What is this, a banner crossing out a wave? It looks like the cheesy stuff you'd expect from Microsoft when they try to be minimalist but fail.

I think the texture behind the 7 looks like the texture on the back of the Nexus 7. So Apple to stop sell the iPad and will start selling Nexus devices in Apple Stores.
