Won't happen. The ratio will be the same. These mockups are nice and all, but there is no way they are going to make exiting apps ugly/shoehorned.
Don't be so sure.Apple WILL NOT change the aspect ratio. When will people accept that simple truth?!?
I agree 100% The Lumia doesn't look too big in person.
See pic. It's a rough look, but I pasted that 4" screen into the 4s form factor, and moved that slot. It's not pretty, but it could work AND fit into my pocket still....
Yeah, that's a good direction to go in imo. See here for a thread on that topic, with some nice pics on page 3.See pic. It's a rough look, but I pasted that 4" screen into the 4s form factor, and moved that slot. It's not pretty, but it could work AND fit into my pocket still....
I'd love a bigger sreen, but my thumb it's just not long enough.
Good point. A naïve approach (enlarging the keyboard to fit the extended screen width) would be awful. Now show me what the keyboard will look like in landscape.
Oh yeah, I forgot there was only one way to hold a phone![]()
You mean 90% of non-game developers. And about 60% of the apps on the App Store are games.

Very nice, how did you make that image? The device does NOT have to have a larger footprint to have the wider screen.

A little ingenuity in the proximity sensor is all.
Am I the only person bothered by the continued use of the term 'iPhone 5'? We've been over this.... it's technically the 6th iPhone, it won't feature 5G network anything, and it will likely intro iOS 6 (or be running the same iOS 5 that the 4s did, which is really the 5th iPhone. . . . )..

I just happened to watch CNBC today talking about Apple and the stock being down . . and it really bothered me that mass media is referring to the next iPhone as iPhone 5...![]()
By that logic, Apple should just release a 5" iPhone and call it a day. Any move to change screen size will be primarily about usability rather than what the competition is doing. Besides, it's not like all/most competing smartphones have 4.7" screens or even that most consumers buy 4.7" screens. The competition spans a range of screen sizes from some even smaller than the iPhone to some much larger. With only one model iPhone, Apple isn't going to aim for some extreme but rather some sweet spot in the middle that hopefully most consumers will agree with. 4" is probably about right. What's interesting is that Apple's competition is using 4.7"+ screens now.
If Apple releases the iPhone with a 4" screen, it'll still be small compared to other phones.
