just bought myself the Shure SE215s and man are these things comfortable. Sound is excellent too. Nice and bassy but not too overpowering. No cable noise at all since they're work over the ear. Definitely recommended. $99 at Best Buy

Wow .. that is tempting, I don't know .. I think this cans is a bit of my league. Maybe I'll go check out B&W C5 for now.

But please do tell .. how do you have that shiny chromic on iPhone's steel band?
Is that custom made? Or what kind of shield do you use for it? How much did it cost?

Amazon.com has them for $200
well well well worth that price! regular MSRP is $400

you will not regret the choice, i have bought probably 10+ headphones in my life and these are the best hands down. Usually when headphones stop working its because the cable gets frayed, with these you can buy replacement cables for $20 = probably the last headphones I will ever have to buy.

Good review of them here http://www.audio-ideas.com/reviews/headphones/ultimate-ears-triplefi10.html
They are triple driver = full volume with crisp highs and lows ( cant do that with single drivers)

Great support (provided by logitech)
2 year warranty
Tons of extras and multiple size eartips

Westone 3's. A bit pricey but very comfortable, cord over the ear design with good isolation. Sound very good across the audible spectrum.

Previously owned UE extra base also nice but could not get a good fit.

The earphones from the Iphone are surprisingly good and much better than
my Xoom and Desire standard earphones.

Sounds like a great choice .. hmm reconsidering it :) .. do they have options for built in mic? Or just pure set of headphone?
I read they have replaceable parts and cables (except for the cans itself) .. so I'm curious if we can add mic to it.

Sennheiser HD25-1 II, around $180 on Amazon.com.
I used Shure SRH750DJs and sounded great, except it's uncomfortable (especially the headband which basically becomes flat)
Audio-Technica M50s are also frequently recommended for closed headphones in your price range.

Any audiophile would advise against Beats, Bose, and Skullcandy. ;)

What are the best for $100-$120

I like the ajay design, but heard the sound isn't great, I also heard the same with s4i but I wish they had the tangle free design.

So anything with tangle free for around $100-$120

Not an audiophile by any means, but my beats sound great to me, and i got them for cheap on craigslist complete with best buy receipt so I know they are legit cause I had him exchange them for a different color before I gave him cash.

yup replacement cable with mic and button is also $20 bucks (though its in high demand so right now it might be out of stock)

but don't let that be a deal breaker

If your top priority is comfort, Bose in ears is the way to go. Most comfortable in ear buds I've ever worn, and ive tried everything out there pretty much (in that price range). Best sound quality from my experience in that range is kilpsch s4i...whatever you do, stay AWAY from beats by dre!

unless your main priority is comfort. Nobody can rival Bose in that respect (and that respect only haha)

Gotta love the hate on Beats headphones.

I have the Beats Tours, Beats Pros and Beatbox and love them all. They sound great to me, and every other person who has listened to them says the same.

They don't necessarily sound BAD, but they're very bass heavy, they're for listening to rap/hip hop, music where the most important (often only) part of the sound is the bass, the beat. If you're going to listen to music that has instruments, you're going to want a more balanced sound. Audiophiles tend to be in the latter of the 2 categories.

There's also the negative connotation towards beats that they're all for style (and I do know a LOT of people who have purchased them simply because having beats is "cool")

OP if you have the $200 to spend don't bother yourself with these $50 or $100 headphones they are a waste of time/regret

you will not regret the UE triplefi10's especially at that price

also you can always return them

Lol at beats. Head over to an audiophile forum and they will laugh at you for even mentioning bout owning them. Beats are just a gimmick can and the only reason they sell is because of marketing.

I own and use senn hd555, and ath m50s. Actual 's' model.

Both sound amazing for what I paid and are not overly head and drown out mids like other cans do.

As for IEMs. I use monster turbine copper. Got em for cheap from a forum I frequent :).

Beats Studo L.E Blue (to be return tomorrow) Don't get me wrong..the headphone is not too bad in terms of sounds and pretty fashionable. What it is so bad is...the build quality :( I've learn my lesson that expensive=/=better built.

So I recently brought the orange Limited Edition Beats Studio, as soon as I try it on my iPhone(4) and discovers that it doesn't work at all. The remote doesn't let me skip/play/pause on music which really defeats the purpose of getting it in the first place. That's not all, sure I can live without pausing/skipping songs but what's good if I can't answer calls and apparently I'm breaking in and out if I talk on the remote mic.

Then I went back to Best Buy to return it and exchange it for the blue one. Same thing again, remote is not working for the second time and I'll be heading back to Best Buy to get my money back. I really hope it's the wire and it's not my phone that is causing so much problem. Went back home to test it with Apple stocks earbuds and everything works with no problem (play/skip etc). I think I'm not going to get the Beats Studio again even though it is on sale here at Best Buy/Future Shop. :(

If he had the Best Buy receipt why wouldn't he return them for a full refund?

Wow just returned my C5s to best buy and rebought them on apple.com. Saved me $51. W00t. Sale is only good through today.

I don't want it to only sounds good, lifetime is important too for sure :)

This is the 2nd time on the first page you are looking for cans that will last a "lifetime" - Why?
Do you think "can" technology will stay the same, or do you think in 2-3 yrs there will be better stuff available at a better price, (like all of the other electronincs you own).

I have seen some excellent recommendations from many posters, and while you prolly can't repel down a cliff from them, they don't have any common premature failures reported, so please don't fret about how thick/tuff the cables are, (cause you have no need for them to last a lifetime).

Personally I have Klipsch, (and I also own Snap-On tools), because quality is very important to me.

Sometimes I can't affort the higher end stuff, (so I simply save another month or two until I can) - ;)

V6 and sony earbuds

I use whichever pair of Sony earbuds I have (I go through earbuds pretty quickly, Sonys seem to last me the longest).

If I'm listening to music while at home or relaxing somewhere, then I'll use my Sony MDR V6s (newer gold plated MDR7506 for a bit more) - it looks a bit dated these days but the sound is amazing and honestly I don't want to go around wearing Dr. Dre's logo everywhere at triple the price. Sound is almost the same on both pairs.

I just ordered the Klipsch S4i headphones. Can't wait to get them. Been using Apple supplied ones forever.

I use Sennheiser HD25 II

Their looks don't stand out but the sound quality is truly excellent. Many producers/DJs swear by these.

They are also closed back which means the sound won't escape and annoy everyone around you.
