My 15" UMBP goes in the Booq Taipan Skin M and then in the Booq Boa Case M for carrying around.
Is the Taipan skin available for the 17 incher?

Also - does it zip open all the way around so I can use it as a base when I'm at a cafe?

What's the difference between the Vyper and Taipan sleeves>

This Caselogic sleeve works like a charm. Fits perfectly, and has an extra pocket that is elastic so it can fit your charger.

i got the incase sleeve for my 17inch mbp .. mainly because apple gave it to me for free because of the mess up on my order .. still looking for a bag to carry it in .. but havent been to successful

I have a BBP bag ( http://www.bbpbags.com ) .. .Their new one is called the Hybrid Hamptons, but I have the old one... the only difference is mine just has a plain front flap instead of the compartments. Now for the kicker, the old one was on clearance and I paid $42!!! shipped.

I got the large and it is PERFECT for my laptop, 2 textbooks, a couple smaller paperbacks, some folders and a notebook. Best part is, it will fit my 17" UMBP when I get it.

Now on to the two KICKASS features that no other messenger bag has!!!...

1) Separate laptop compartment - You don't have to open the top flap to access the laptop... I can't tell you how convenient it is and I think it is safer for the computer.

2) Backpack option - This gets hugely mixed reviews, but let me tell you, it works great for walking around campus, very comfortable. And the messenger option works good for a quick trip into a coffee shop or walking into a meeting.

Quality is great too, highly recommended. Even for the full price.

Another comment about the latest revision of the Booq Vyper M3 -- it does NOT fit like a glove on the new 15" unibody. The old ones fit like gloves on the old MBPs, but these don't. Around the edges it fits perfectly, but they are way too thick for the new MBP so that when you grab it there is a lot of 'play' before you feel the firm notebook underneath. The beauty of the olds ones was that it was completely form-fitting.

Easy to return if you don't like it, but just to warn you...I think it's a design flaw actually. Hard to explain, but when you see it you'll see what I mean.

I second this. I'm shipping mine back because it definitely does not fit like a glove on the new MBP, even though the site claims it does. Regardless, the Booq line is pretty awesome, I think they just screwed up on the M3 measurements.

Victorinox - Architecture Classic collection

I wanted something slim and lightweight since I'd be lugging around a 17" MacBookPro.

I found this one on Amazon which has proven ideal:

Victorinox - Architecture Classic collection

Built with ballistic nylon, it's tough and the nylon doesn't wear.

Although this picture shows a Treo here, this pouch fits my iPhone snuggly. The interior of this pocket is soft and seems to clean the display every time I slip it in.

The photo shows a 15" in there for some reason, but the 17" is a perfect fit.

The power brick fits perfectly in that square pouch on the left.
There's room for a couple of Sharpies, business cards, etc.
There are also a few hidden pouches in and around the bag.

The strap is very comfortable. I used to have a leather Armani bag for my old 15" and it always hurt my shoulder. This one was built for comfort. Somehow, I barely feel the weight of the laptop, perhaps because the center of gravity is taken into consideration here, while my Armani bag hung lower.

I'd definitely recommend it. You can get it here.. It's on sale now.

i need a bag that can fit my 17in mbp .. maybe a book and notebook or clothes and my kindle when i head to the shore .. ive had a manhattan portage messenger bag for 16 years and it has held up great over the years

I have or have had the following cases for my current MBP:

RadTech MacTruck
Rhinoskin Aluminum
Rhinoskin ABS
Pelican 1090CC

Usually carried in either a leather messenger bag (the same bag as Mohinder Suresh on Heroes!) or a TAD Gear FAST Pack.

And sometimes, Matias Laptop Armor.

I did a brief review on all of them in another thread.

Acme Made Telun Canvas + Black Speck Satin See Thru

I love this bag, it looks fantastic only thing is you need to get a shoulder pad for it, I am still looking for the right one, I hardly bring it out anyways haha but its a nice bag $300 CAD tax in. A more economical choice from the 1500 LV bag I was eyeing. And the Speck See thru case seems to work fine for now, it will however make the lid heavier and make the hinge a bit weird for some.

eeeek. I still can't decide. I'm between incase vs. booq taipan vs. booq vyper vs applesac.

I'll be carrying it in my larger messenger bag along with big, heavy books (I'd imagine) for the next three years in law school.

Suggestions on which to get?

Incase Sleeve Plus. I like it since i can carry it by itself due to the handle and strap, at the same time it's slim enough to put in my backpack with my books and such.

Mobile Edge Premium Briefcase - Black

The protection is amazing.. raised bubble wrap like foam bubbles to protect it in a sleeve that sits inside the brief case that is also padded.

Here is the review that sold me on it.

Thinking about switching to one of their backpacks soon.

Anyone have any suggestions for a bag that can hold the 13 MBP as the primary laptop and then Ibm thinkpad (doesnt matter doesnt need dedicated pocket) and also a few text books?

I use a Kipling Webmaster for years now, when gigging with my band. Very good, but it is no longer available. I found some pictures on this blog, although mine is very, very red:

I also use a bag from Claudio Ferrici, for business hours. It is not a laptop bag, but I took some padding from a cheap generic laptop bag and put it inside the Claudio Ferrici. Now a 15" MacBook fits perfectly.
