I was eyeing the Yoobao case, but saw this note on the Xengadget site.

"About the New iPad:
This case is not designed and intended for the new Apple iPad. We are working with Yoobao to bring the leather for the new iPad. Please stay tuned.

We got words from Yoobao that this case can be used with the new iPad, but it's a little bit tighter, and the cutouts are off center a little bit. We do not recommend to use this case with the new iPad."

So there you have it. I suppose you could live with it being tighter and off-center, but I'm going to wait until they come out with a new version. It makes sense -- after all, there are screen protectors that are thicker than .6 mm (I think).

Great find I was going to order one today glad I didn't......THANKS!!!!

Looks like mine is going to be going back! Need to find something now!

Have been looking at the Zoogue Genius Leathercase as an addition. The reviews are very positive, the case itself appears well constructed and functional.

Additional note: Case has magnets for smart cover operation.

I am going to start with just a smart cover... but I want a hard shell to snap on to the back that won't leave marks on the frame of my new iPad. I was thinking of waiting until people start reviewing the new cases before I get a rear shell... but maybe I should go ahead and order one anyway. I just don't know which one to choose.

Suggestions on a thin and minimal rear shell that is compatible with the smart cover?

I preordered the SmartFit3 by the JoyFactory. Using SmartCover as well.

I (and several others here), have been thru all the ipad and iphone launches...I have learned the hard way TO WAIT A FEW MONTHS until they have their 1st gen products out there. Do a search here and you will find all sorts of fit and finish problems by virtually mfr, as every mfr rushes their product to market to capture the huge Tsunami of ipad buyers that have to have something right now to protect their new pad. Whatever you get right now is going to market with no real world longevity testing - except you.

So what to do? I'm gonna use my old smartcover, get a skin of some sort - like icarbons, iskin, Zagg (Yecch) and wait a bit...after they realize the the tab breaks off (like ZUM) or the fit is bad and correct it, I'll be in for a folio type case from somebody.

I ordered a Piel Frama magnetic in dark brown. Cases.com has a list of cases that will fit the iPad. I've used a PDair case which is similar on my iPad 1 since I got it and it's still going strong. The Piel Frama is a much better quality case. Looking forward to a quality update with my case and going from my iPad 1 to the new iPad should be quite enjoyable.

Me too. I strongly dislike that Smart Cover. Wouldn't use it if you offered to pay me to do it.

I have the basic Apple case on my 1st gen and rather like it. It's simple and very protective. My only issue is it NEVER looks clean, but then mine is rarely out of the house or seen by another human so who cares?

When it arrives I'll likely slip the "new" iPad into the old cover to see how it fits. If I like I'll get a new one for that iPad. If not I'll shop like the rest of you.

Funny story, I actually went out to TJ Maxx today, and I stumbled upon this case

It is exactly like Apple's original iPad case, except in a light grey with a smart cover feature. I found it for $11 too

I've bought a polyurethane blue smart cover. I will use this with my screenprotector.

This means I will have something for when I get my iPad. I can't make up my mind what to do, so will wait to see.

Smart cover + front & back screen protectors and then a sleeve which can fit the iPad with the smart cover on.
or
Smart cover + front screen protectors and some sort of back case which works with the smartcover
or
STM Skinny 3 + front screen protector
or something else ;)

cant find that on their website

I did a lot of research and ended up ordering the Joy Smartsuit 3 Ultra-slim Snap-on Case.

I searched the Smartsuit 2. Nobody gave it a bad review on Google, Youtube, Amazon, etc. I Googled for a promo code and got 15% off too!

From their website:
* All-over protection for your iPad
* Wake-sleep cover
* Cover converts to stand--portrait and landscape views
* Magnets hold cover open: Now when you take a break and curl up with your favorite iBook, your fingers can take a break too…because the SmartSuit 3 magnetically holds the cover open for you.

I'm going with the STM skinny, I just can't decide if I want Blue or Red. I have a white iPad coming so I think either of those colors would look great.

Opted for the Lexington, coverage for the back, which is soft so it wont scratch the back. As well as coverage for the front with the "smart" functionality! Can't wait to get it in.

I decided on the Targus Slim Case. I really love the look and think it will perfectly meet my needs.

While I wait for the Skinny to show up, I'm going to get the cheapest rear shell I can find, along with this slip case I just finished making. I still need to get buttons for the closure (and to make those holes in the flap actually worth something), but it turned out alright for not using a pattern:

That's really neat!

Ordered the STM Skinny in Blue.

Now I just need to find a cheap TPU plastic case from amazon that will fit so I can use it until it arrives.
