- Posters who end their post with their username. I can see your screen name to the left of your post, so why put it there?
- List of Apple stuff in their signatures, especially when its products that aren't even out yet like:
:apple:MacBook (when the new one is out :D;))
- Signatures in general
- Different font or font colour for posts ..urgh
- The use of iPhone News Discussion posts for App Store stuff that have blatantly given the site cash for some advertising. Cheapens the site, IMHO.

A certain breed of fan boys on the forums who will make personal jabs or post unhelpful quips rather than help you with the issue you are experiencing, maybe because they are social vomit or maybe because the idea of an Apple product not working like Steve wants it to makes their feeble minds tremble, I dunno. But that is what I dislike most about MacRumors.

Would you like some cheese with that whine?

Agreements. It doesn't irritate me so much as I just plain don't understand it (the first one) and the second does get to me if I read too posts like that in one day. It's hard to follow, somehow. Confusing a little bit I guess...

I'd like to see a steady supply of rumours, say one every 3/4 hours. At the moment we seem to go for up to 3 days with the same rumour on the front page, then all of a sudden 10 rumours come at once.

Rumors are published as they come in and are vetted. Arn has no control over when info comes in.

Dislike- people who don't edit their posts when they want to add something shortly after posting.

Mostly depends on what AppleInsider publishes ;).

FLASH ADS!!!!!! They cripple my iBook! Yes I know that the ads are done through Google.

If your iBook isn't really able to keep up with any flash ads, we can't really help with that, but if there are particular flash ads that are quite egregious, please contact Arn using the contact tools from the main page and let him know your concern... he may be able to help in some instances.

In regards to the criticism of macrumors looking dated
I generally don't like the look of most bulletin board systems -- but I don't really see an alternative to keeping ALL of this organized.
I like the size of the avatars, there are way to many forums out there that allow giant avatars that have you scrolling and scrolling and scrolling simply to get past the avatar, with it's one line response.

To the noob haters.
I've been here long enough to remember when a lot of you were noobs; so give it a rest.

I like this forum -- Do I wish people would sometimes search first, ask questions later? ya, sometimes. But sometimes when you do a search you don't always find what your looking for -- the search will only respond to what you typed, and won't be intuitive with what you mean <-- i'm sure i've been guilty of posting a question that was probably already answered some other time -- just under a different heading. We could probably also stand to see a few less "I'm returning ( _ apple product _ ) tomorrow" threads. I've seen a lot of "fights" break out on these; I say don't even bother clicking on the thread to see what the person says -- i don't see why we need to care if someone is returning a product -- let the sales people worry about it when the person returns it.

anyway ... I thought this was going to be about the design and layout issues of the board NOT personal attacks on how members respond and format their posts.

There seems to be a lack of rumors mostly on weekends. Rumors seem to come at full frequency by Tuesday/Wednesday.

We're usually around on weekends and will write up stuff that comes out...it's the media and other sources we rely on who take it easy on the weekend. :p

This isn't really something I hate about Macrumors, but on more than one occasion I have seen people say 'wa-la' when they mean 'voilà'

Also people give all sorts of statistics that really have no statistical back up: 1 in five people use X app, 89% of Mac users drink X soda, studies show..., et cetera.

I agree about the "wa-la", as a french major, I get annoyed by it, same with trés (versus très).

I noticed Mac Rumors/Mac Bytes (I keep wanting to type MR as Mac Rumours even after 6 years of being here) sometimes posts information from sites of "x website said 89% agree that Apple product is great" but if the information is negative, the site will discredit it, but that only happened once or twice from what I remember.

I also don't like when people tell me "Get a new Mac!" on here.. I remember being told by forum users various times that I should just buy a new Mac.. even half a year after I bought my Mac (iBook G3), sure it's old, but it still gets the job done and then some! I don't need a new Mac yet so why should I spend a grand or two on something new that I don't really need? I'm not rich, I'm busy with university

I find there are too many grumpy people who like to tear apart users posts, sometimes a person is just giving their insight but having every detail torn apart is just rude.. oh and Grammar/spelling Nazis are annoying too.. but I've done my fair share of it too.

There are quite a few pricks here, not too many but enough to give people a rough time, but every. single. forum. has its share, I remember the day I joined MR, I forget what happened but I was getting flamed for no reason, but on the upside, there are alot of cool people here too, which is a plus :)

Well, I decided to be back now. I could not live a month without MacRumours. ;):D

Good points on everything guys.

I agree most on this. There are good people, there are neutral people and there are some people to steer away from here. That's how life goes.

I hate how most members swallow the kool-aid and think Apple is right and good in whatever they do. Hardware and software have no room for improvement (save for copy/paste on the iphone) and Microsoft is always evil and does a poor job.

You must have missed a lot of threads here. There are threads and posts every day with gripes about Apple. People seem to have things to say, pro and con, about every product from every company, Apple included, even though the people who tend to join MacRumors are those who thought enough of Apple products to buy them, or consider buying them.

Come to think of it, if there was a product, service, announcement, or issue on which everyone here agreed, there wouldn't be much need for a discussion thread!

iJohnHenry does make a compelling argument.

Now I shall contribute to the original topic at hand.

I'd say Apple's greatest mistake was, and this seems like an obvious one but--, firing Steve Jobs back in the 90's.

And I apologise to you just in case you didn't read my PM.

Let's move on then.

Another thing, I don't dislike anything on MacRumours now (from people to features). I accept what MacRumours has and respect/like and enjoy MacRumours (from people to features).

alrighty :) I apologize too. I realize I was being very condescending.
