It used to look like OS X? Or you want it to look like old OS X?

If it used to look like OS X could you share some screenshots of ye old MacRumors?

There used to be an 'Aqua' theme for the forums that made all the posts and and stuff fit in with OS X. It wasn't too well refined, but I liked it back in the day. I don't think you can see it on archive.org because it was an option you could enable or disable in your forum prefs. No screenshots though, sorry.

I'm not advocating a total web2.0-style revamp but maybe a bit of a cleanup. It's starting to show its age around here.

Maybe where you guys live, but this is an international site. Accept the fact that different spellings will turn up from different English speaking regions.

I read your whole post. A tooltip won't help. If you're ignoring it, you're not helping to solve the issue. Reporting posts is by far the best thing you can do to help. It takes seconds to do.

And why do you think that? Because you don't qualify? Accept it, qualify it, and start using it. The rules won't change back.

Your still missing my point of my post. The title of the thread makes no difference. The preview allows the user to read the first paragraph without opening the thread.

Color - colour it was a JOKE. You know humor a funny like a clown.

As for the marketplace goes, I've moderated a buy/sell forum having a minium post count just leads to stupid random posts by the user just so the get to that magical number of posts. If I was really inerested I could have my post count up to the min by this afternoon. All I have to do is make a bunch of nonsense posts and that ain't hard. I have a few hundred thousand posts combined on a few other boards I frequent so 250 is a cakewalk but I won't because I do believe in quality over quanity.

hence why there is a membership length required as well

if you spam you will get banned most likely

the way this thread is going I just might get to that min post count yet. And as far as the membership length goes I don't know what it is but I'm sure if exceeded it. I've been here just a few months less then you

***edit*** check that I thought it said 2006 on yours leaving only a 5 month gap. iPhone screen to small and i cant see strait caus its 5am and I'm still awake grrrr can't sleep

haha true and i believe it's 6 months of membership for the membership component so youre good there

i agree with quality over quantitiy and that was one of the reasons for the length of membership so that it would prevent those from spamming right when they joined

I don't believe I am, I believe I'm not seeing the point of the preview...

Then make it obvious, by putting a  after it. Or making it funny. Either work. ;)

What needs to be said about that has already been said. Don't spam, and stick around long enough to use it. :)

The marketplace on MacRumors is very good, and people will appreciate it's worth the wait. However, there were a few problems that required it to change. I'm glad they have, as they've made it a safer place for all.

I hate the voting system. It's too ambiguous and doesn't bring any value to the site.

I *really* hate all the badgering to use 'multi-quote'. If I want to read through a thread and respond to posts individually as I come to them, then that should be good enough for MR as it is for every other forum I'm on.

Except they'd get deleted, your post count would go back down, and maybe you'd get banned too.

the real question is do i care?

If you don't care about getting banned, maybe we should vote for just saving the mods the trouble and IP banning you now.

Um...OK, if you don't care, then what was the point in the first place?

--Eric

the point was why is there no preview for posts in thread lists. im on a hundred or so message boards and the ones that use vBulletin all or at least i think all of them have the preview. here is what im talking about. in the picture below i had my mouse curser hovering over the text " 94/95 SC Gauge Cluster/145 speedo and what happens right then is the popup you see in the yellow box.

this is the preview im talking about nothing big. i dont know what vb calls it just something that helps speed up the process of surfin the internet.

i was refering to the posts being deleted because would be nonsens and id expect them to be deleted and encourage the mods to delete stupid posts.

im a person that feels that posts counts are useless for the reason I mentioned in another post. all they do is encourage stupid people to make stupid posts so that they get some internet status. but if it makes em feel special, whatever let em be. my gripe about the classifieds having a post count is the fact that when i didnt need something i could look at the forum and buy something, but now its come to where i need something and i cant even look for something.

its fine though, ill fine what im looking for somewhere else. its been fun, thanks for the memories.

ps in response to dukebound85 here https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/6060630/ im not replying anylonger to this thread. i dont want them to think im just posting to increase a post count. my current post count is 95 and thats where it will stand forever.

thank you and goodbye.

well the rules were put in place to better the community as a whole

even though you may be a good member, there has to be some line drawn when it comes to trying to make the marketplace as good of an experience as you can

think of it this way, would you rather sell/buy something from someone you know or a complete stranger? i would always pick the former as you will have more trust between members that may know each other more than "newbies".

keep in mind that the marketplace is not the purpose of macrumors but rather a feature that arn has enabled. so instead of getting rid of the marketplace all together, arn and the other admins decided it was best to simply make the requirements higher in order to participate in it.
