And why post the same question in two different threads? You already got your answer the first time, although you probably didn't like it.

Oh, and I wouldn't have thought it's too clever putting your email address in your post.

Bit harsh like if iv paid that amount of money then a new product comes out within 28 days for same or less money with lets say quad core, and new design. I'd prob be willing to pay something if it runs over that time! But they shud tell u when ur buying somethin like this!

I seem to believe i can post as many times in any theard i want, some ppl only look at certain things so if i post in several threads i got more ppl reading my post = more answers!

No, the answer will be exactly the same, no matter how many times you post.

The truth isn't always pretty

I'm not tryin to be funny about the situation, nothin like that. i'm not worried about the money side of things its more wen the snow leopard comes out will it be based more towrds the new mbp when they eventually come out!

i will buy a new macbook for the holidays if it has:
a nvidia (or even ATI) GPU with 256 or greater memory
a 2.4 dual core cpu
250gb hdd or 128gb SSD
LED backlit screen
re designed magsafe
blu ray option

what i really want is a baby macbook pro for under $1000 but i probably wont get what i want and all apple will give us is a case redesign.

If :apple: opts for the newer Centrino 2 processors we will see 2.4 and 2.6 processors. 250GB is already offered and in my opinion will probably be the middle option on the lower end models (base on all higher end MB's). I expect low ends to start with 160, have 250 as an option and 300 as an option on the high ends. The LED is definite, and the aluminum's will probably have a nVidia graphics card, 9000's series if anything after the defective 8000's. The amount of card memory I can not say. Blu-Ray is possible for the MBP, but that is only if there is an update at MWSF 2009. Sorry to say I do not know about anything on the MagSafe, but that is only because I haven't even thought about searching anything on that.

Hope I helped!:)

Sorry, then you most likely aren't going to be buying a MacBook if you will only go for those specs.

If Apple puts a good video card in the MacBook, then there is no point in buying the MacBook Pro excluding 1.7 inches of screen space. It will completely crash the market for them.

Anyway, they most likely will get LED displays, but I'm still unsure about aluminum, and I'm doubting it. The case on the MBP has been one of the biggest selling points, for it and the PowerBooks, it simply looks wonderful.

MagSafe and Blu-Ray, not happening. MagSafe works fine as it is, blu-ray uses too much battery life.

Thanks to everyone for the response to the thread! What processors will the new MacBooks have? What site can I download iAlertu from and what programs do you think are a must for the MacBook? what case is best for the MacBook? is it worth downloading the new Mac AIM Beta??? -Thanks!:D :apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple::apple:

I'll be extremely disappointed if it doesn't at least meet the following...

- ~ 4 lbs
- LED backlight
- New aluminum or similar case
- 2gb standard
- Superdrive standard
- Starting < $1K

All I want from the new MacBooks is an LED display. I really hate the glossy non-LED screens in the current MacBook. Gimme LED, Aluminum, 2.4GHz and a Sexy design and I'm sold.

Anti-Glare

Yeah, that's probably on top of my wish list, along with a sexy new body (for the MB, that is...).

I'm wondering if the "anti-glare" film sold now to achieve a "matte-like" effect will also work with the LEDs? I guess so since I think the same products are sold for MB and MBA.

we pray :p
Apple should ditch the combo drive.. paying about $1000 for a notebook without a Superdrive is just sad! 14' Screen would be a nice addition.

Here's what I expect and think is a very realistic possibility.

Macbook
2.26ghz centrino 2 cpu
2gb ram upgradeable to 4gb
superdrive
led display
backlit keyboard
intel 4500 graphics
aluminum casing(hopefully available in black)
160gb hard drive upgradeable to 320gb
14.1" 16:9 screen
pricing starting at $899 or 999

Macbook Pro
2.4ghz centrino 2 cpu upgradeable to w/e the fastest one is
2gb ram upgradeable to 4gb
superdrive upgradeable to blu-ray rom/dvd burner
led display
backlit keyboard
nvidia 9 series gpu
aluminum casing
250gb hard drive upgradeable to 500gb
17" 16:9 screen
pricing starting at $1699-$1799

So no 15" MBP, or 8GB RAM option? I don't think so.

While I do think Apple will eventually have to go 16:9, simply because in a year or two I don't think they'll MAKE 16:10 panels anymore, it might not happen. Then again, a redesign is a perfect time for it. I just hope we get a higher resolution than 1600x900 on the 15/16" MBP.

I'd also love to see 7200RPM drives standard on the Pro, and maybe a Blu-ray option, but that's wishful thinking. I do think the MB/P will both adopt the same keyboard as the Air (cuts down on costs too).

If the MB does get an aluminum case, LED screen, backlit keyboard, and, if the other rumors are also true, an integrated Nvidia GPU and FW800, I just don't see how the MBP would have anything other than screen size to justify the pricing, which means one of 3 things would happen:

1. As many suggested, the merging of the MB and MBP product lines.
2. A significant price drop of the MBP, perhaps in addition to #1. $1699 or so.
3. *Significant* upgrades to the MBP line. 9 series Nvidia GPUs at the least, Blu-ray standard, etc. Something to really set it apart and make it feel 'worth' and extra thousand dollars.

Macbook
intel 4500 graphics

Why? Do you think Apple will continue to put worthless integrated graphics cards in computers that are $1000+? Not even an option for dedicated graphics?

Integrated graphics are integrated graphics. That is, they're terrible. They should be considered in computers costing $600 or less, not $1000 or more. The iBook G4 had better graphics than the current Macbook.

When Apple continues to force people to spend 3x the industry prices (on the MBP, that is) just to get decent graphics processing on a notebook is when Apple continues to lose potential customers.

Despite the price, it's a MacBook; not a MacBook Pro. If you need something more than integrated graphics well then don't buy a MacBook then.

So you're telling me that dedicated graphics = "Pro"? So any computer that has dedicated graphics is a "Pro", including $600 HP's?

I'm sorry, but I don't buy it. Dedicated graphics are a consumer item, and should be available on the cheap, meaning on less than $1000 computers, including Apple ones. Apple's Macbook should have consumer dedicated graphics, at least BTO, like every other standard (not ultraportable) $600 laptop out there.

I hope you enjoy your PC when you get one. They seem to be the right fit for you. They have some great specs and Apple will never match them at the same price. I haven't been on this board that long, but why do you keep complaining when you know they won't change? Go buy a PC and hopefully you will be happy then.

For one, I WANT to buy an Apple that has what I want. And if people will buy a MAc no matter what is the cost, who is left to fight the high prices? It costs Apple no more to produce a computer than any other PC manufacturer. So the only people who ensure Apple's profit margins are the customers.

I want to see change, even if it doesn't look realistic. I want to have 1 computer, a Mac, not two, a Mac and a PC.

Well, I have my own ideas on what the MacBook will have.:p

Starting price: $999 base with a NetBook at a lower price (hence Apple talking about an "Aggressive price point")
Memory: 2GB standard, upgradable to 4GB
Harddrive: Starting at 160GB, upgradable to 250 and 300
Processor: 2.4GHz Centrino 2, upgradable to 2.6GHz
Graphics: nVidia 9000 series

I think the screen will have an optional touchscreen trackpad and the apple remote will be redesigned. There will probably be a better MP iSight camera. I expect the new laptops to have the same keyboards but in black and for the battery life to extend to 5-5.5hrs with the new Genius processors. There will only be Superdrives and maybe HD-DVD Superdrives as an option. There maybe will be an increase in USB ports. An SD slot would be nice but that's impossible.;)

I am open to hearing what you have to say!:D
Now let's leave it up :apple: to not screw themselves this time around!!

:apple::apple::apple::apple:

I agree completely with Beric. Why spend 1000$+ on a laptop with specifications that can easily be matched with one <700$. Sure the OS may be different, but that's preference, they still operate and work similarly(please don't yell at me, i'm just stating my opinion:eek:). I have only used a Mac, never actually owned one. However, i am hoping that they do release some major updates to the macbook :D.
As for what i see in the update?
From what i've heard, it seems that the redesign of an Aluminum case is very likely for a "greener Apple" approach. I hope so, then again i do hope for alot of things :p

PS First post !!
