If it's only a 4S I guess...

-Apple stock will (temporarily) fall (slightly)
-Media outlets will criticize...
-...but then give it favourable reviews when they get hands-on time.
-Other manufacturers will breathe a sigh of relief that Apple haven't stepped up their game by much.
-People tied into long-ass contracts and those who (finally) brought white iPhone 4s will also breathe a sigh of relief.
-The Apple faithful will defend the product like crazy and line up for it.
-It will sell pretty well because lets be honest the iPhone 4 is beautifully designed and a redesign is wanted only to show progression.

I personally would probably keep my iPhone 4 until something really catches my eye.

Well guys, looks like we might just be seeing a 4$.

So i'm stuck between a couple options. I don't know if i'll get the iPhone 4$ and then sell it off early for the redesigned iPhone, or if i'll just get Nexus Prime.

I honestly believe that this a critical point for Apple.

True they are thriving right now. Money is pouring into their doors. But right now the anticipation for this new iPhone is pretty insane.

Because of that, a simple 4s release could be damaging. It literally opens the door wide open for everyone else to waltz on in to their territory. It's like giving the competition a free year in which apple will not innovate in their market.

Sad but true.

The event on Oct. 4th needs to bring it. And it's because of Apple's reputation coming in that they can't underwhelm without some big consequences.

Agreed completely.

Unfortunately, i've accepted the fact that we'll just get an iPhone 4S.
At least, i hope the antenna is fixed and they replaced glass with something else..

You can't lose hope yet! Not until Oct 4th afternoon, that is. They're doing this so that everyone can give a standing ovation as Cook unveils Apple's best kept secret: the redesigned and gorgeous iPhone 5. :)

Well... I guess you can just call me a hopeless optimist.

yeah we might as well face it ... no iPhone 5 this year .... we get an iPhone 4S instead ..

Next weeks Apple event ... expect Apple to show off some white iPod touch ... then go on to the iPhone 4S ... then they will talk about Assistant feature for iOS 5 .... and finish up by saying that iCloud will roll out the next week or very soon.

Nothing to get very excited for a redesign for iPhone :(

Yeah and on October 11th Google will unveil the new Nexus Prime. If the iPhone 5 is not a stellar device (externally and internally), then the Nexus Prime will just steal it's thunder.

I'd say this is true for the techheads of the world... for the other 95% of people I don't know if they will buy anything else ;)

Exp: I got my mom an Infuse 4g after her iPhone 3Gs contract was up. After about 3 days she said "Its too complicated to use, I need to take it back and I'll just wait for the iPhone 5..." :p

I guess having extra buttons (back, menu, search, etc) instead of simply 1 single home button is too complicated for most people?

If it's a 4S ... it will be the best selling iPhone ever!

If it's a 5 ... it will be the best selling iPhone ever!
