More robust Camera application overall. I looked at my relative's Samsung S3 and saw a lot of stuff that could be added into the app. At the very least, add the ability to use panorama while in landscape mode. Made me roll my eyes when I saw that the iPhone didn't have it but the S3 did :roll eyes:

Also, the ability to transfer apps to one other over wifi/bluetooth would be nice, especially on trips where one person has a certain multiplayer game and the other person doesn't :D

I actually prefer it vertical panorama. You actually get a larger picture and Apples results look great.

What imo is missing is the advanced options same as Nokia on say the 1020.

* push gmail (I'm dreaming, but can't I?)

Not an iOS issue. Google blocked it to get folks to use their app so they can get more user data since Apple won't share.

----------

A centralised way of sharing files between apps (doesn't have to be a fully fledged filesystem).

I could go with that. Multiple copies of the same file sucks.as done the stupid tricks of having to file share to move things to new app that some require. Like say a ringtone app to ringtone settings. One bucket could remove that fuss.

----------

Apple really needs to catch up to Android in the flexibility and versitility department and their moronic sandboxing policy is what is holding them back.

Spoken like a 2%er. iOS etc isn't designed for you and your unique, geeky needs. If you want a mobile so like Android, go buy that.

----------

Three things:

A music app that's as good as/better than the iOS 6 music app. That app was damn near perfect!

There are some odd quirks in both the music and video apps. And features removed that make little less that would be dang handy.

On music app thing I dislike is music videos in the music app. They don't play in the background, they don't go landscape properly. Just no.

In videos picking quality of files is gone. Way back in iOS 5 you could decide what quality level to download. By file. Then it was at least a toggle in videos or the purchase page. Now nothing.

Plus in both there are weird things with albums not saying together, seasons not saying together etc

Well, an adult color PALLET would contain less pastels conveying a more serious tone. A color pallet for a children typically would convey a more whimsical feel.

Personal opinion nothing more. Just like some folks would say any photos are childish and an adult UI would be lists of words only

- Different Keyboard colors
- Ability to change widgets in the quick menu
- The original passcode lock back
- The resizing of pictures when changing backgrounds (it enlarges it - really annoying)
- Ability to change system fonts
- Instagram incorporation
- An Apple Calculator
- iBooks update

Some can be found in jailbreaking. Apple has a lot to work on. iOS 7 was rushed and they made it sloppy in my opinion.

a mail app that
  • correctly and immeadiatly reflects folder counts with what it presents in folders. Applies specifically to ios7 and unread counts
  • will do a check that verifies web access prior to raising a "server is not accessible" message for each mail account that is defined. So, no web means "mail cannot check ANY mail server", and with web the individual server messages appears if pertinent

- iTunes Match for Videos

Highly unlikely to never happen. Studios will view it as encouraging rips and torrents.

- Scrapbook - like the good old Mac Scapbook, clipboard manager...

Or even image etc support in notes app.

----------

I could never understand why iOS didn't have this in the first place. If i'm holding my device sideways and want to lock the screen why does it think I want it up right?

The issue isn't a lack of a lock. It is there. Just not all apps, even native ones, support landscape view. Thus why they don't 'allow' it.

How about universal bigger font options etc

----------

That's personal opinion, mine being the opposite with old iOS looking rather childish and tacky with things trying to appear like real items... i.e green felt and stitching.

I just wish they hadn't removed/changed functionality with the looks. I had no issue with how Game Center worked before. If anything my issues were with developers lack of support, and forcing me to sign up for fifty other systems.

I don't see why they had to rewrite functionality with the looks. And not just in Game Center. Lots of useful things have been removed. Things that could be way more universally useful than quick reply, close all etc that the geeks around here are calling a must.

----------

iOS would change the hardware and physical appearance of the phone?

Why not. It already makes your phone drop and waterproof

That's what they said about music not long ago.

True but the Studios are being far tighter asses about the issue. They withhold TV titles for several seasons in many cases, charge stupid high amounts etc. Convincing them won't be as easy. IF it ever came to be it won't be part of the existing system price. $25 a month maybe. Likely more. Certainly not $25 a year. And no uploads. Probably SD only and no features like Extras either

I want a redesigned calculator app. Right now it's designed to emulate a basic handheld calculator, and that's dated and skeuomorphic.

Second, I want to be able to attach any file from the email app. I don't want to have to open individual apps to do this. Plus, sending files from Dropbox app really only emails a link, not a file.

Not an iOS issue. Google blocked it to get folks to use their app so they can get more user data since Apple won't share.

I thought it was because of Google having to use MS Exchange for push notifications, and they didn't want to pay the licensing fees for it anymore. You can still do it, if you have the paid feature on a google apps account.

Almost all of my gmail accounts are google apps accounts, problem is none are paid (one is academic), so I still don't have that option lol.

Also: The gmail app is really crap. Sure, you get notifications but you don't get to choose what the notification sounds/vibrates like (I don't think iOS supports custom notifications for 3rd party apps?) Hrmm maybe sound, wish I could change the vibration pattern!

Either way, when you get a notification, you go to open gmail to find it has to start from scratch and connect to google, and waste a good 10 seconds or so waiting for it. lol.

Honestly, since iPhones don't have proper notification lights I've given up on notification-based stuff and just refresh my email whenever I check my phone. Sucks if I am waiting for an important email, or want to know immediately about emails for a certain thing, but whatever.

Since we're on the topic: How bad is battery drain if I set 5 accounts to refresh every ~10 mins?

  • Mail should support IMAP IDLE.
  • A bunch of minor visual tweaks - notes needs it's font colour sorted out badly.
  • Safari needs to be able to download things.
  • There needs to be a centralised file repository.
  • Airdrop needs to be scrapped and begun again so it's actually useful - it should use whatever protocol necessary to send or receive files to wherever you want them to go, without user fuss. Not just iOS - but Windows and Android. Otherwise it's a chocolate teapot.
  • Orientation lock in landscape on the iPhone.
  • The Today screen on the notification center needs tidying up.
  • You need to be able to change default applications.
  • Wifi connections need to give greater prioritisation flexibility.
  • iOS7's lost share sheet functionality needs to be restored.
  • The music app needs to be better.
  • The calendar app needs to be better.

The only things I want are extensions of current good functionality, but with refinement...

* Keep the tiles grid, but let me drag an icon to take up multiple rows/columns.
* Live icons is the next thing... it would essentially replicate the widget mentality but controlled nicely by the grid being flexible. It's possible to do live icons (clock) so why not open that up to everything else.. 32x32, 64x64, 128x128, 128x64 etc etc could all have different "Live Icon Profiles" so they widgetize effectively and then hopefully everyone will shut up about widgets.
* Spend a bit more time with the UX guys to get the Design guys back on track... iOS7 is nice, but basic controls are defo missing now they've taken this direction. Just give me a saturation slider in accessibility.. give me control of what 'types' and 'when' to use animations... some are nice, other get to me.. let me choose. Let me turn 'Frosted' transparency off..

Basically, I want iOS8 to give me 'choice'. If anyone can spin a tagline, it's Apple... so roll on iOS8 "The choice is yours, the price is right" or whatever.

Multiple user accounts (at least for the iPad)
File system browser

Better everything, including improvements and enhancements.

Oh, better graphics would also be nice.
