I'll vote for 5 GB storage for each device for 3-5 years. Collecting premium price for each device for "apple universe experience" it's only fair that cloud storage attached to device and not account.

  1. A cohesive product line that does not relegate some users to reduced functionality simply because they prefer smaller physical devices.
  2. A more cohesive product line that works for all users. We don't need 6+ versions of a laptop that are all thin and underpowered. We need an inexpensive laptop for students (but full functionality, 12 & 15? inch), a business laptop (12 & 15 inch, more ports, soldered in RAM, SSD), and a workstation laptop (15 & 17 inch, not focused on battery life, with even more ports, replaceable RAM & SSD). Drop the word Pro for laptops, apple does not make a Pro laptop.
  3. We need the top end laptop to have replaceable SSD and memory.
  4. We need the top end laptop to be able to support up to 64 GB of memory.
  5. We need options in the top end laptop to let the users choose between battery life and performance based on installed RAM and SSD.
  6. We need an Apple that does not ignore product lines because they are all working on "One" next big thing.
  7. We need a CEO that pulls his head out and stops trying to BS Apple users. Stop the interviews and other external focus and get back to the core Apple business. Every product that Apple sells now is a commodity, but Apple treats them all like they are supposed to be the next big thing. We don't need keynotes for new laptops, just release them.
  8. If Apple is going to ignore product lines, then drop them, quit trying to fool users into believing that Apple cares.
  9. Apple needs to understand that it impresses by its actions, not its advertising, interviews, and other BS. Sure advertising etc. are needed, but without the actions, the advertising comes off as BS. Apple is living today based on past actions, that won't last much longer.
  10. Apples product lines need to have cohesive ports. If there is a transition in progress then Apple needs to tell its users what the future is rather than lie and keep us in the dark. We need to be able to plan our technology purchases.
  11. Apple needs to put someone in charge that understands quality and can rationally make good decisions that achieves both marketing deadlines and delivering quality products. To do otherwise as is currently the case causes users to lose faith in Apple.

I've never used Android much. But I got a good deal on an unlocked LG on Black Friday just for fun because I've been curious. I plan to start tinkering with it when I get some time. Do you know if Android can do most of what you posted there?

Funny you say that, I bought an Android tablet 2gb ram for £99 on Black Friday. I am sure you can do most, if not all, of what I have posted. However, the backup feature is not as good as iCloud/iTunes.

I don't know all of the technical limitations that kept Nvidia cards from being used in MacBooks..

Apple codes for open cl in FCP and other stuff, that is the issue. They don't want to code in CUDA support. Inb4 the AMD zealots....CUDA is nvidia proprietary tech. And nvidia tends to only run it on their cards and not support open cl.

Open cl is more open source and not controlled by one entity. So its "better" and so is AMD they say.

Now enters the fun us nvidia fanboys have as we argue well open cl is not smashing the competition out there. And enters arguments that reach well you are biased. Yes...I am. I had one zealot say well you have't used their latest stuff man. To which they'd be correct. Here is why. I tried the AMD cool aid a few times. Those experiments over $1000 total easily.

Now to radeon then AMD's credit....they had/have decent RMA. I used it....quite a bit. Kind of hard to test the superiority of AMD when its at their repair facility and my rig is running an oh crap emergency low to mid end nvidia while the AMD wonder child RMA'd out. So this is why I have not given AMD's stuff a go in recent years. Nvidia in these dark times got lots of +1's....my cheap bargain shelf $200 while not the sexiest...worked. Where as my $500+ wonder child from radeon/AMD at some repair facility.

The AMD in the 2015 seems to be stable. But I stopped gaming on my mbp really besides Eve online. Anything else was just a why? situation. And in the case of eve its bittersweet. I fired it up once all the stuff turned on and said man...this is beautiful. Shame the frame rates sucked ass to the point it was almost inducing epileptic seizures (and I don't even have epilepsy). So all settings low to medium to get frame rates back and said sigh....she looks less pretty but is actually playable now.

I think a better SE with 3D Capabke camera and editing tools is the ticket. No larger, MAYBE a bit thicker if need be, headphone jack kept. I travel a lot so size matters. Thanks for the Apple Pay experience.
As for Mac Mini, some opportunity to add ram, and a solid drive slot for response and faster booting - do NOT see going to external for booting as a great way to go.

They'll never do it because they are too far down the road on this, but my advise for apple is get back to your roots. You are well off the path now with such an overly wide variety of products. Kill a few product lines or combine them. Catch up with Microsoft. While you were busy patting yourself on the back the Surface line has thoroughly out-innovated you. Windows 10 is now a far superior product to OSX you are spread too thin and companies with stronger focus on specific products are lapping you now.

I'd be happy with iOS 10.5 or whatever number they end up at rather than an 11 update that they "have to" release. Focus on getting rid of bugs.

  • Cutting edge hardware design.
  • PCIe 4.0, DP 1.4, HDMI 2.0b, x-point/optane storage (no more fusion or HD drives).
  • Eliminate USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1 ports, make all Type-C ports TB3 & USB 3.1 Gen 2 compatible, allow DP 1.4 Alt mode over Type-C output form dGPU.
  • 4K & 5K WCG OLED screens with HDR for iMac, MBP and iPhones. Pencil and 3D-touch support where appropriate.
  • 4K WCG HDR capable Apple TV with SD card reader, HDMI 2.0b/HDCP 2.2 output and USB 3.1 ports.
  • Split the Mac Pro line in two. One for Gamers (using standard PC components) at a lower price, the other for Pro users with Pro level 2x GPU (with user upgradable and expandable bits).
  • 4K WCG HDR compatible 4/6 core Mac Mini with user replaceable RAM, Storage, dGPU.
  • An Apple TB3 eGPU box with built in dock.
  • An Apple approved TB3 dock that has USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C ports + type-A ports, 2x DP 1.4 ports (each on it's own stream, not one that requires an other dongle TB3 to DP 1.2), Gbit Ethernet, SD card reader. Currently, there is no way to connect 2x DP 1.2 4K@60Hz screens to any dock without resorting to additional dongles. If you make dongles, keep up with current tech (HDMI 2.0b, not 1.4). A working/approved TB3 to dual DP 1.2 splitter.
  • 4K & 5K borderless OLED TB3 Monitors with WCG & HDR support (+ additional DP 1.4 & HDMI 2.0b ports).
  • Non of this emoji & watch strap nonsense, we need more than a fresh coat of paint.
  • Retire Lightning port, upgrade to Type-C on all iPhone/iPads.
  • With PCIe 4.0, we expect TB4!!!

If only this were actually true. *sigh* tbqh Microsofts "innovations" are grossly overhyped. There isn't really any substance to the claims MSFT out innovated anyone for that matter. Tbqh the AirPods were the most innovative thing to come out of 2016. It was the one piece of tech I loved instantly.

I didn't put a massive FCP redo on the list. Going for reverse psychology. I have asked and not gotten (we get the santa clause update at this point....it comes once a year lol). So by not asking maybe this will the year of truly new FCP version.

Or tbh...I'd take a statement from apple saying yeah....we are kind of done with this. Move on. Just give us like most of the industry does a nice end of life date....months in advance.

Not the way they handled aperture's announcement. the one DC it was mentioned finally was the one they executed it live on stage. Out the blue, only suspicions of issues with the application (you see it was getting once a year updates as well....hopefuls like me were going man...they have to be working on a killer new version release and that is where the time is going developer wise.).

Nice EOL date if lack of interest in the product....we can migrate slowly. I'd respect them for that. Unlike with aperture where you were going wtf...guess I get to find a new solution and implement.....NOW!.

Apple needs to hire and train more engineers to work on their products. It seems like bugs aren't getting fixed as fast as they are being created. They are trying to cut costs at the expense of customer satisfaction.

Which is kind of funny...since the new stuff making havoc...doesn't really seem to be needed really. I have not even gone to sierra yet. And not feeling like I am missing out on anything for that really. Every mac os release its you need this feature. You want this feature.

Nope...I don't need or want it seems. Nor am I real active in the beta version threads since, well, I have last years latest which seems to be ironed out nicely really. Don't need to be there with baited breath going yes...bug fix coming.

I'd like to see a TB 3 Mac Pro, and I know even though it's hopeless, I wish so much that they re-evaluate and design a new 5k Display.

We make best computer in the world. Everywhere I go people say that. They say we love your iMac. I think the iMac is the best. Lots of people do. I'm going to build the best computer in the world. It's going to be an iMac with a yuge display. And I'm going to make Samsung pay for it.
