People need to be realistic. The Mac will NEVER be central to everything Apple does ever again. Those days have past, and they are never coming back.

Just be thankful Apple still maintains a Mac business. Others like Sony have already given up on traditional computers. And Apple will one day do the same and its probably not as far away as some Mac loyalists would like to believe.

Why not emphasize the Mac again? iPhone and iPad sales are starting to tank and up until a year ago when the Mac started being not competitive, its sales were steady or increasing. Makes sense to work on all aspects pf the business rather than something that is declinong (iPhone) or flaming out (iPad).

If Apple would work their magic on a 2 in 1 they could own that field for a while. Running Mac apps along with iOS on a touchecreen would be awesome. Microsoft is 80% there and as much as it pains me to say, it is a good experience. Apple could take that to 11.

Apple should learn the lesson of focusing to much on iPhone and remember that it is a computer company first. Otherwise it's only a matter of time before it becomes the next Blackberry, Nokia, Motorola, or Ericsson. Mobile phone business is fickle.
Also IOS in my opinion so dated and limited now.

Apple needs to get serious about its Macs.

Mac users are the glue that binds the ecosystem and develop all things for it.

Abandoning professional Mac users is the stupidest thing Apple is doing right now.

They gave up for different reasons, not just because they can't be bothered anymore. And their other profits didn't rely on them maintaining their computing platform.

Tim is a spreadsheet guy, his focus is entirely on the relentless pursuit of growth, but in the meantime he's neglecting the foundations of the company.

Don't be surprised when the house starts crumbling down.

Honestly there is too much that needs to change. Apple are uninspired and have lost the plot.

At this point I can't say there's a single product that is perfect and many that are far from it. It's clear Apple cares only about money above all else.

Apart from the iPhone, the closest product I would call to being perfect is the 12" MacBook. It would be if it had another USB port on the other side. Just one port is stupid. The next best product is the 13" MacBook Pro sans Touch Bar but it is let don't by an underpowered processor compared to the touch bar model.

And it pretty much goes downhill from there.

I think for me it can be summed up with bring back the vision, and the excitement along with a full Apple ecosystem experience for home users and professionals, that includes the courage to move forward while keeping an eye at the present. I think Apple has cut their own potential short a bit with the dumb of thinner and simplification.

I disagree with other people that Ive needs to go, I think he would just be better in the role he used to be in, rather than this ambiguous "design chief" role. Tim is very capable, but perhaps not the visionary as a CEO we would hope for. Like Ive I think he might be better suited in the role he had before he was CEO. There is no doubt he is a good leader, and amazing at many aspects of running a business like supply chain management. He's just running the company text-book from business school, good for Stock holders now but that doesn't make him the visionary that APPLE could use as CEO.

Remember. Mobileme was awful, first gen of macbook white has sudden shutdown issue, iphone 4 antenna lines, first gen macbook air with throttling down issue. A lot of mistakes made under CEO jobs too. Nobody's perfect.

Mac Mini update - with a great video chipset. iMac update. Affordable Mac Pro. iOS and MacOS convergence - iOS apps should run on the desktop. Consolidation of iPad feature sets. A real upgrade to the iPhone. All apps should support all interface features across devices, resolutions, and orientations.

I'd really like an easy to way to join or share wifi passwords (airdrop?)
Or ideally just some sort of universal cellular data network and do away with wifi

Sonys core business was never computers though. Apple has already given up on iPods, professional computers and if they think they are going to survive on just idevices, they maybe in for a shock. Computers is that solid product they have that people choose over PC, the iPads are tanked with people upgrading less and less, and they are one greedy decision away from seeing iPhones tank also, especially if the 7S is the 6SSS.

The other major strength was thier software, which they turned into a markerting tool, to try to sell hardware, which means we get a major drop each year of buggy software, it's a silly cycle

Touchscreen Macbook Pro! Not this shy attempt to bring gesture to laptops

No....just no, i don't see Apple doing that anyway. As they have said (and as I agree with) it's a terrible experience.

A lot of people forget about that, no company or any one person is ever perfect. Apple make great products and I still think that's true today, but times have changed and the company has shifted, but that doesn't mean the products are not as good (at least in my opinion)

I would love them to realize why they became success again under Steve.

Getting rid of unnecessary product variants (iPad Pro, different iPhone sizes, laptops with and without OLED - bar. And concentrateing on making the few products they are left with all "pro".

It's not Tim's fault, that he has no vision. But the excessive and unnecessary product variations are. Same fault they have made before in the 90's...

Modest improvement:
- Keyboard with TouchBar, usable both wired and wireless

Something I'd personally really dig:
- An ergonomic, split/contoured keyboard and mouse

  • 4k Apple TV with 4k movies available from the iTunes store.
  • Headphone jacks. Its not moving forward if its still the universal standard for all devices. Even the new MacBook pro has a headphone jack.
  • Lower prices in the Uk. Come on Apple you're really screwing us over here.
  • Custom or 3rd party watch faces for apple watch.
