Agreed.

Improved Airport routers.

iCloud - 10gb storage

Improved battery for all - at least 16 hours.

32gb ram for MacBook (without touchbar).

4gb ram iPhone rimless - home button to the side like Sony.

8gb ram iPad rimless - home button to side like Sony.

iOS - dark theme, files system app, able to use Chrome Stick or Roku without the need of third party apps, able to upload files via safari, add ringtones without iTunes, able to modify songs for example start time/end time like in iTunes, password for individual apps, guest login, able to use external hard drive, able to access dmg password protected folder, backup idevice on hard drive without the need of the iCloud - needs to be more similar to macOS.
32GB ram for an i3? why?

I'd love to see a new Airport but it seems apple has given up on that. What I would like to see is 3x3 antenna on the MacBook Pro. Incredibly lame for apple to just use 2x2 on a $2k laptop that is meant to be used wirelessly.

I have a simple wish from Apple for 2017.
A return to Pro machines for Pro users suitable for Pro work.

If Apple continue to be the weakest link in our Pro setup, I'll bin them as a supplier. I simply can't put our productivity and output at risk.

People forget that Apple are just a supplier. You may love them and the hardware but you and I are the client.
If I had any other supplier that continued to under-perform and put my business at risk, I'd put steps in place to replace them.

I don't want to but why should I stay loyal to a company that isn't loyal to us and our requirements? It's that simple. If they don't "get" the creative, Pro market then that market will look elsewhere.

An SMB protocol that works with my MS 2012R2 server so Plex on my iMac works all the time.

More than 2 cores on "Pro" machines.
Touch screen, not idiotic touch bar.
user upgradeable memory and storage.
More than one I/O port type.
SD card slot, where is it? I don't need it a half pound lighter, I want the SD card slot.
I know you sell a lot of iPhones, Spend a little man-hours on your computer products, I bet you could make them better rather than worse as you did with the last version of laptops.

1. A wider variety of dongles at a higher price.

2. A Macbook Pro with only 16 Gig of RAM, but really great battery life that turns out not to have really great battery life. Oh and it should have a touch bar that replaces the top row of keys so I can use it for DJing. Oh and it should be way more expensive.

You already got that in 2016. ;)

My wishlist:

Updated Mini

Updated Mac Pro

A truly pro laptop with 32 gigs of memory

Increase free iCloud storage

(Not holding my breath.)

All of my Apple Gear seems to work really nicely and helps me do all of the things I need to do, iPhone desktop laptop etc etc.

I have no wish list as I am in the lucky position of being able to get on with my life just fine as I am without even more tech boosts.

To those whose wish is that every part of the Mac line up gets boosted, get out more.

Happy new year all.

all new iMacs with only flash storage. Probably not going to happen on a base model, but I hope we don't see anymore archaic 5400 HDs in a 2017 Apple desktop.

A fully rationalized MB line:
The MacBook Pros that should have come out with Kaby Lake processors and better battery life. (I'm a fan of the TouchBar.)
A MacBook line that can really replace the MacBook Air. The 12" need to be updated with a faster processor and at least one more USB-C port. The line should also have a bigger version, around 14", to replace the 13" MacBook Air.

The Powerbook 100 - no, forget that; the Powerbook Duo, with 2017 specs.

A professional, serious, down to business, powerful machine with great connectivity and all the niceties and care you expect from a Mac.

Preferably in graphite.

Either that, or Apple to buy out Lenovo, put OS X on Thinkpads and rebrand them as "Powerbook".

A fix for my iPhone's battery so that it doesn't randomly shut down only to "magically" be restored to it's battery level once plugged in. Hopefully that will happen in 2017 because the last two months of 2016 apparently weren't enough time.

What I want to see from Apple in 2017:

A company that actually listens to their customers. This was one of the things that made Apple special back in the days, and what also gave rise to the strong following they have. Surely, there has to be a balance of pursuing the company's vision and values but also catering to the customers needs and wants. I don't see the two being mutually exclusive.

The Apple of today has turned greedy and arrogant, and I would like to see a change. I'm not pointing fingers, but I have now finally started seeing the problem of a "numbers guy" running Apple.

As for the product lineup:

1. Get back to the Mac. As for laptops:

- MacBook (Classic/SE) using the old 13" MBA design and traditional array of ports. $899

- New MacBook Air (what is now the MacBook). Add a second USB-C port to the 12" version. $1099. Make a 13/14" version with a proper i5/i7 processor, 2 USB-C ports and an SD card reader. $1299. Introduce MagSafe 3, magnetic charging via each of the two USB-C ports.

- MacBook Pro. Go back to the old design if needed, but make sure it has the power, connectivity and quality control we have come to expect from a Pro device. Starting at $1499.

Desktops:

- A new Mac Mini. Reuse the hardware from the MacBook Classic in the standard configuration at $499. Offer the hardware from the 14" MacBook Air for the upgraded model at $799. A quad core is not going to happen.

- A new, redesigned iMac. Less bezels, all quad core, all SSD. Same sizes. Allow for RAM upgrades on all models, regardless of size. Allow Target display mode for all type of devices, including over HDMI.

- An upgrade to the Mac Pro.

2. iPhone:

- A new iPhone 8. Redesigned, full HD OLED, offer two sizes and reduce the bezels. There should be feature parity between the two models. Also remove the protruding camera and add the headphone jack back!

- Keep the iPhone SE around as the cheap alternative.

Three models, three sizes. No need for more.

3. iPads:

Rather than making all laptops more like iDevices (limited connectivity, iOS type charging et.c.), start making your iPad Pro's more like laptops rather than mobile phones. Look at Surface and that's your starting point. I think this is more in line with what people are asking for. Of course, still on iOS.

Reduce the line up to the iPad Mini and the iPad Pro 2, the latter in two sizes.

A fundamental shift in thinking...
that Apple products are not disposable throw away items, but can be opened up, and serviceable.

I know it's not going to happen, but for all the talk about how environmentally responsible they are, reuse and extending the life of products is far cleaner than recycling.

Yes, I realize this is not financially advantageous, but didn't Tim suggest to a shareholder to sell his stocks when challenged on climate change?

We've covered what we expect to see from Apple in 2017 based on the rumors that are circulating so far in our recent What to Expect post.

On the horizon are a new iPhone 8 with a radically redesigned body and an edge-to-edge display, a revamped iPad Pro also potentially with an edge-to-edge display, long-awaited iMac updates, and new software, but there's always the chance there's a wildcard update or new product in the works that will surprise us all.

A redesigned Apple TV, a new home hub, and augmented reality smart glasses are all products that are rumored to be in the works with no prospective release date. We want to hear from the MacRumors community -- what are you expecting or hoping to see Apple release in 2017?

2017.jpg

Are there specific features you're hoping Apple will implement in iOS 11, tvOS 11, watchOS 4, or macOS 10.13? Popular wishlist items from last year included a dark mode for iOS, home screen widgets, and a customizable control center.

Let us know what you want to see in the comments, and make sure to check our our What to Expect post for the latest rumors. Apple's plans for 2017 will likely become more clear in the early months of the year, and as always, we'll be covering all of the rumors in-depth here at MacRumors.

The MacRumors forums are also always a rich resource for talking about upcoming products and rumors, and with the biggest iPhone change in years set to happen in 2017, our forums are the place to be for lively discussions.

We'd also like to thank all of our readers and our forum members for making MacRumors the absolute best source for Mac news and advice on the web. We wouldn't be here without you, and we look forward to another rumor-packed year.

My wish list includes: a competitive Siri and Apple Maps, and indoors WiFi-based location aware software (e.g. Homekit that knows what room of my house I'm at).
