Updated Time Capsules, or an Amazon Echo-like device that functions as a Time Capsule. Or Apple collaborating with a 3rd party (like LG with the UltraFine displays) to bring forward a Time Capsule replacement that gets the Apple seal-of-approval, as we all know the team behind Time Capsules is being dissolved.

Apple TV with 4K and HDR support would be nice, too.

They dropped the Time Capsule....

The 2015 MBP was IMO the best until now and still is. The 'update' is a differently positioned laptop, less in my league, less professional to me. I want a replaceable ssd, real keys instead of a touchbar (although e-ink in real keys might be an interesting concept), 32 GB RAM.

Also on my wishlist:
  • An iTunes makeover
  • Continuation of the SE iphone series
  • More Steve, less Tim.
  • Get The Woz involved
  • Touchbar without sacrificing real keys

I want simple things to work better.

The on-screen keyboard should have arrow keys for non force touch devices. Text input and selection is a miserable experience right now. Number one design deficiency is text selection. Tedious and inaccurate, a time consuming mess.

Slide over/split screen apps should be selectable for display instead of the mess we have now. Makes that feature a chore to find the app you want.

Quit torturing users with things that increase our costs and calling it "courage". Don't keep forcing customers to buy dongle's and adapters in exchange for thiness to stroke Jony Ives' ego.

Can you increase the freaking height of the middle display tables in the Applestores so we don't have to crouch with our arses poking into the ether? WTF?

Don't keep telling us great things are coming while you turn out limited products. Answer the amrket, quit forcing wounded, least common denominator products down our throats - Photos for example. Where are all of the wonderful, cutting edge plug ins for that app?

Turn iTunes into separate apps with exemplary syncing.

Tired of minimalist menus that force the user to hunt for what should be simple tasks.

In other words, execute the basics.

Id like to see a Mac Pro that goes back to the 2012 format... i don't necessarily like the concept above, but they are making EVERYTHING consumer based and i hate that... i want to be able to upgrade the memory without having to sell the computer and buy a new one! I want to be able to upgrade the GPU without selling the computer and buying a new one... i want to be able to upgrade/add SSD internally WITHOUT having to SELL the computer and BUY a NEW one....

More hardware. Refresh the entire Mac line in the first quarter. Get the battery/performance issues sorted on the MBP, redo that keyboard so it is a bit quieter.

I'm rather annoyed about the Airport disappearing, specifically because I use the AEs as remote speaker access points around the house. Give us other affordable options to hook in our speakers remotely.

Rewrite of 'iTunes'. Separate the music/video/syncing portions, and let the Mac share out music/video without need for the app to always be running.

Profiles on iOS for families sharing a phone/iPad.

Why thank you for asking......

I'd love to see a sensible new Macbook product, and discontinuation of the abortion that is the new MBP.

Perhaps re-issue of an 11" (the most useful computing tool I've had in the past 15 years), even without retina.

Put the damn magsafe back.

Put a normal USB on each side, please.

Make a reasonably sized iPhone (~5") that's been tested and has no major bugs.

Put the headphone jack back on, at least until they can put a battery that lasts for 14 days. Bluetooth for everything is still not smart in 2017.

Most of all - please remember all the good the Steve's mania/personality (disorders) produced, and find someone that carries his TRUE, deep seated, unrelenting commitment to excellence. Being nice to everyone is all well and good, until you allow a company who's products were trying to bring down airliners to stay competitive with what used to the the largest company on earth. I think the biggest slap in the face of the Mac faithful was the removal of the battery gauge as a solution to the battery issues...... shame, shame. Steve is looking down shaking his head like a disappointed father.

Get it together Kids.....

-Jer.

Form an autonomous 'Better not Thinner' Pro division to handle all computers except the iMac and MacBook. Make sure Jony's swipe card does not let him into their building.

iOS needs a 'no emoji, ever' switch.

Sell me an Apple branded 5k monitor with a non reflective screen that I can plug into my MacPro.

Admit that there are serious faults with all 3 types of MacPro graphics card, and offer free replacements to everyone who suffers frequent GPU restarts/hangs.

A seriously updated MacBook to replace my Air if it should die.
What's wrong with the current MacBook? The Skylake m7 is faster than any current Air, and the expected Kaby Lake update will make it even better. Kaby Lake replaces the m5/m7 nomenclature with Core i5/Core i7 (m3 remains for now), if it makes you feel better.

They have not, at least not yet. There is a rumor that they reassigned the engineers to other projects, but they still sell the Time Capsule and released a software update for it last week.

Let's be realistic.

The 12" MacBook is lighter than the 11" MacBook Air and has a much nicer display. It's pretty good with Skylake and should get even better with Kaby Lake.

USB-A isn't going to happen. The adapters are $9, anyway (and cheaper options exist on Amazon). I'd rather use an adapter than have Apple go backwards by putting in USB-A ports.

The Griffin BreakSafe is a nice charging cable. I'd like to see an official Apple version, or at least a supported version (akin to the LG displays), that is capable of 5A/100W charging. That is more realistic than expecting Apple to bring MagSafe back to the body of the MacBook itself. I like having the ability to plug in the charger from either side, as well as using industry-standard power cords (I'm charging my MacBook Pro with a Monoprice USB-C 3.1 data cable as I write this).

The 2016 MacBook Pro has the same class of processor as the predecessor, so I don't really get all the hate on it. My guess is that 2017 will see a Kaby Lake update, as well as a slightly larger battery if Apple can get the sculpted battery working.

Smaller iPhone bezels (so the Plus is as big as the S7 Edge), higher display resolution, a thicker smaller iPhone for improved battery, ability to set default apps in iOS and the ability to send stuff via Bluetooth to other non-Apple devices - I mean come on, it's coming up on 10 years.

A 4" iPhone with the same general specs as the current model. I know its smaller so it can't fit as big of a battery and might have to sacrifice camera specs, etc. but internals that aren't already over a year old when released would be nice. Call it the iPhone mini, call it the iPhone for people that don't typically watch videos on their phone, call it the iPhone for people who don't want to have to enlarge their pockets, call it whatever, just give me the option to buy it.

I expect I am in the minority so a lineup of 4", 4.7/5", and a 5.5/5.8" would cover me plus people who love their current sizes.

Products that actually live up to the ‘Pro’ moniker.

Exactly, please bring back the PRO laptops; 17" and 15" with matt screen and handful of connections (not just USB-C). Not to mention other good things that has been taken away for no good reason like MacSafe power connector or battery indicator. Making laptop thinner doesn't make it PRO ... just thin. I treat current MacBook Pro as an expensive successor of MacBook Air.

For current iPads Pro ... These things don't even have a file system. I cannot reply to an email attaching a document if it's not on the iDrive ... PRO ? SERIOUSLY????

You can upgrade SSD and RAM in the current Mac Pro. And the garbage can form factor is 1000% better than that hideous monstrosity above. I wouldn't want that thing within 100 yards of my home.

The iPhone SE has the same internals as the 6s, so you already got your wish. Any update to the SE will likely have iPhone 7 internals.

I'd like to see a return to user-upgradable RAM and SSD on the Macbook Pro and iMac.

Stop thinking dongles are an acceptable solution for a mobile device. I'd rather have a port or two I personally don't use than have to bring even a single extra dongle with me.

Currently, 16GB is fine for me in my Macbook. However, I want a computer that is future-proof for several years. I fear that the 2016 releases aren't.

Come back down to earth with your prices. A premium is fine, but the 2016 Macbook Pro prices are not justified.

I would be thrilled if Apple would just make it possible to use the tab key to tab from title field to title field in Photos. And make it possible to create an album before you import photos. Too often Apple introduces a new version or a totally new product that is supposed to be better but it makes the end user experience worse.

You should do a thread and ask Apple users to list those missing features that they used to enjoy using. New is never guaranteed to be better. Too often companies including Apple make changes just to show they've made changes. That's simply not true.

We've covered what we expect to see from Apple in 2017 based on the rumors that are circulating so far in our recent What to Expect post.

On the horizon are a new iPhone 8 with a radically redesigned body and an edge-to-edge display, a revamped iPad Pro also potentially with an edge-to-edge display, long-awaited iMac updates, and new software, but there's always the chance there's a wildcard update or new product in the works that will surprise us all.

A redesigned Apple TV, a new home hub, and augmented reality smart glasses are all products that are rumored to be in the works with no prospective release date. We want to hear from the MacRumors community -- what are you expecting or hoping to see Apple release in 2017?

2017.jpg

Are there specific features you're hoping Apple will implement in iOS 11, tvOS 11, watchOS 4, or macOS 10.13? Popular wishlist items from last year included a dark mode for iOS, home screen widgets, and a customizable control center.

Let us know what you want to see in the comments, and make sure to check our our What to Expect post for the latest rumors. Apple's plans for 2017 will likely become more clear in the early months of the year, and as always, we'll be covering all of the rumors in-depth here at MacRumors.

The MacRumors forums are also always a rich resource for talking about upcoming products and rumors, and with the biggest iPhone change in years set to happen in 2017, our forums are the place to be for lively discussions.

We'd also like to thank all of our readers and our forum members for making MacRumors the absolute best source for Mac news and advice on the web. We wouldn't be here without you, and we look forward to another rumor-packed year.

17" MacBook Pro. Matte screen optional. Tons of battery life and connectors.

Apple, do you hear your power users? We're the people who need great tools, often produce work others will see, and are often the ones most connected to the brand. Please bring it back.

iPhone SES (or whatever they want to call the follow on to the SE) with an edge to edge display so the small form factor has maximum display. My phone must fit in the back pocket of jeans. Personally, I like the flat edge of the 5s, but mostly, I just want a small phone that isn't compromised.
iPad MiniPro I wanna use a pen too and I don't want a bigger iPad. Yup, I like my iDevices on the small side.
MacBook Air Awesome Retina display, and 16GB of RAM (and by inference, put 32GBs in the MBP, for crying out loud), and 500GB SSD. And it can drive a 5K display.
Lower prices on Watch accessories. I want more watchbands but the prices are ridiculous.
Lastly, things that just work. And don't break something that used to work.
Oh, and make Safari something I can love. Too often too slow.

My wish is that Apple will stop being so obsessed with "thinness" and start being more obsessed with "function over form". I'm still on an iPhone 6. I have NO interest in the newer features on the 6S or 7. I doubt I'll have any interest in the new features on the iPhone 7S (or 8 or whatever it is called). But if the next iPhone brings back the headphone jack and comes with a somewhat thicker case that allows room for that headphone jack AND improves overall battery life, now THAT will get my attention.

I recently purchased a 2015 13" MacBook Pro because I wanted a laptop with pro features. I don't need a thinner laptop, nor a gimmicky touch bar. What I need is great battery life AND the types of ports that I use regularly (including and SD Card slot).

Apple should rebrand the 2016 MacBook Pro as the MacBook Thin and release a REAL pro version of the computer. Thicker, better battery life, and ports that people use and need. Not that I'll buy one, I'll stick with the 2015 for the foreseeable future.

Lastly, if Apple wants to win back my heart, they need to spend a few of those billions of dollars on a few software engineers to keep Aperture updated for full compatibility with Sierra and future versions of Mac OS. I'm not asking for new features, just compatibility updates. Updates that allow me to keep using Aperture and still upgrade to the latest OS without fear of glitches.

Yes, I know Apple officially announced it was dropping support of Aperture. I'm saying that was a MISTAKE. With all of those billions of dollars, how freakin' hard is it to continue to support legacy products? I spent over $700 on the original version of Aperture and several updates. I'm supposed to just throw that away because I want to run Sierra?

Some things you do simply because you are supposed to support the people that supported you. It matters not that Aperture isn't a profit center. Apple profits by people spending money on computers to RUN Aperture. And, until Aperture is fully compatible with the latest OS, I won't be buying any Macs that require the latest OS. No more profit from me, Apple.

It is extremely saddening that in a few short years I've gone from "can't wait for the next Mac computer (or OS) update" to "I don't care what they release, I'm not buying it."

Mark

Tim cook has done an OK job as CEO. But let's face it, he's been coasting from the momentum built by Steve Jobs. Now is it fair to think he should be as competent as Steve Jobs. I'm not sure it is. Steve Jobs set the bar so high that I'm not sure anybody currently working at Apple has the "Oomph" to walk and talk like Steve did. With that said, I have nothing personal against Tim Cook. In fact he seems like an awesome guy which may be the problem. He needs to be more of an ******* and demand the impossible from his engineers if Apple is to keep its crown.

I think also Apple needs to stop thinking it's customer base is completely uniform. Products need to be be more targeted. Like the new macbook pros, let's be real here. They are fine computers (aside from the battery issue which very well may be a software issue that will get resolved). But they hit sorta of middle ground. They are thin and light which appeals to the standard user, but they are far too expensive for that market. They are pretty powerful which appeals to the pro market, but they compromise on ports so much. What I'm getting at is they need to stop trying to make one single computer to try to appeal to everyone, but make machines that are more targeted to their audience.

Also let's be real here, they are completely neglecting their most loyal user base. That is the hardcore media creation people. Those people have been loyal and have generally be ok with spending more on their computer because Apple computers were worth it. Standard users loyalty will shift so it's pointless to try to cater to them. Instead, they need to focus on that loyal pro user base they've been shafting the last few years. That means make a laptop that is pure performance and functionality. And they need to fix that atrocity that is the mac pro. Kill it and go back to the old mac pros of 2009 with 2017 hardware. If apple looses that market, that will hurt them. Yeah they make most of their money off the iPhone, but we all see iPhone market growth is stagnating. This year Apple got lucky with Samsung dropping the ball with their note 7, but I see tons of people left and right shifting away from iPhones and loving their android devices.

The new MBPs are not light. They might be powerful but they're certainly not light. I looked at the 13 & 15" models and they're both really heavy.
