I'll start with changes to the Music app.

iOS 10 was a great update for people, like me, who use a personal library and don't use Apple Music. But there's plenty of room for improvement.

Shuffle Improvements

Apples shuffle feature is terrible. It often repeats songs and skips others and the Music app never remembers which songs you've already listened to.

I would like an improved shuffle feature that won't repeat songs even after the Music app has been completely closed and cleared out of memory.

Multiple Playlists

I use my phone as the primary radio in my car. i have playlists for the different people I drive around with and others just for me. I'd like the Music app to remember where I am in 2 different playlists that I can switch between them and not lose my place or have to listen to repeat songs.

Apple Music

I appreciate that I could download songs for offline play. That's important. However, this takes away from the coolest part of music streaming; discovering new music. If I want to listen offline, I have to know ahead of time what I'm going to listen to. I'd like to be able to setup some offline stations and a storage allocation limit for those and allow Apple to curate me lists by automatically downloading those curated songs into the stations overnight so that I can listen to songs offline.

Somewhat within reason?
- 4" iPhone with 3D Touch, water resistance, 256 GB storage, matte black
- 12.9" iPad Pro with proper cintiq functionality, matte black
- Apple Pencil with an off switch, more friction tip, programmable side button, magnetic smart connector charging
- 7.9" iPad Pro with pencil support, quad speakers, 256 GB storage
- Apple TV with 4K support
- Beats X

Not a chance?
- 16" MBP convertible with pencil support (no touch input, no iOS), 32 GB RAM
- 6.5-7" iPad mini mini with pencil support and quad speakers
- 3.5" iPhone
- Apple smartband

If they're gonna overload iOS on emoji's and other garbage that's useful for 5th graders why not lower the price to 5th grade affordability?

I can't believe these phones used to cost $500 (unsubsidized) 10 years ago when nobody had them and now that everyone has one they're $850.

I'm glad my 2008 MacBook (with SSD that I upgraded myself) is still going strong, that way I don't have to type more than a sentence with my thumbs on a stupid tablet.

Unbelievable what garbage everyone falls for these days.

Agreed.

Improved Airport routers.

iCloud - 10gb storage

Improved battery for all - at least 16 hours.

32gb ram for MacBook (without touchbar).

4gb ram iPhone rimless - home button to the side like Sony.

8gb ram iPad rimless - home button to side like Sony.

iOS - dark theme, files system app, able to use Chrome Stick or Roku without the need of third party apps, able to upload files via safari, add ringtones without iTunes, able to modify songs for example start time/end time like in iTunes, password for individual apps, guest login, able to use external hard drive, able to access dmg password protected folder, backup idevice on hard drive without the need of the iCloud - needs to be more similar to macOS.
Agree, apple customers are not only interested to iPhones. Please apple find again the right direction for the mac complete environment: airport routers, serous MacBook pros without thinking only to smaller devices, but user experience and functionality. And please considere that a mac user likes to upgrade it!

They just updated their laptops, so hoping for a new one designed for people who actually use them for work is unrealistic... so I'll save that for the next time around.

What I'd like to see from Apple in 2017 is some indication that they realize "thinner and lighter" doesn't have to be a mantra which trumps everything else - that sometimes utility is more important than Ive's aesthetic "sensibility".
Exactly. The famous apple user experience seems to have been lost... and apple is pushing a too much on the revenue side, making products a bit too much expensive

Not expecting much unfortunately. Think we will see more of the same vein.
Would like to see:
  • Allow assignment of default apps
  • Fix the stock Apple apps
  • Mac with a touchscreen or pencil support
  • Someone with some real vision
  • A JI replacement
  • Made in America
Not asking for much. ;)

Well thought out integrated hardware and software across all devices. Computers that out perform the competition. Cooperation with software companies so the Mac has photo/video/gaming abilities at least equal to a Windows box. If a proprietary cord/ format is used have it offer significant advantages AND HAVE PROGRAMS AND HARDWARE THAT TAKES ADVANTAGE OF THAT PERFORMANCE. Having an I/O cord (lightning plug) that is faster than a USB but even a lot of your own devices can't use it and very few third party devices bother to implement it is not an example of superior engineering. Remember the acronym KISS and what it stands for, and make your OS simple to use again.

MACS.

I'd also like to see the iPad Pro software evolve into something that is more useful for professional project workflows that involve several parts. Projects started on the iPad could seamlessly open on the Mac for advanced editing features or higher end processing/rendering/etc. I'd also like to see more system level integration of the iPad Pro such as using it as an external drawing tablet for the Mac without needing a third party app. I think Apple could do it better with more features.

1. A Home Automation System (echo like)
2. Increase base iCloud storage
3. Unlimited photo storage
4. New Mac mini
5. Lower price of MacBook
6. iOS needs a big ol boost in making the iPad Pro the productivity device Apple wants it to be.

New Mac Pro's that have sky lake processors, Normal SSD's, user replacable RAM, User replaceable graphics cards, prices that aren't ridiculously over the top, bordering on laughable. It will never happen as apple thinks it's funny to charge £3500 for a £1500 computer and then want 5x the price for Ram. Greed greed greed

An Apple Watch Air with no protruding sensor bubble on the underside so I can wear it without pain.

Also... a pair of AirPods to call my own. ;)

Touch screen laptop or at least support for the Apple Pencil. Been playing with a Lenovo Yoga and see the promise that this offers. But it needs Apple's refinement. It's the best of both worlds and something Apple could come in and rule if they would jettison Ive and Tim and get someone that is truly a visionary.

Same as many others.

Retina Macbook Air (or Macbook 2 with vast improvements)
Aperture 2.0. Apple software keeps getting worse and worse.
Equivalent features in the smaller iPhones...I hate phablets but want the features.
Drastically improved workflow for photos/music/icloud.

Innovation.

To be able to open a split screen app without scrolling my previous apps one by one for about 10 seconds, with the one I want more often than not at the very end of the scroll wheel on my 12.9" iPad that could easily accommodate a full screen of apps in at least a 2x6 grid. Quad pane multitasking with drag and drop would also be a godsend

And the ability to run the same app twice, particularly in pages/keynote/numbers, and to be able to have something like a calculator in a pip format as mentioned on the 9to5 Mac podcast this week

I think for me it can be summed up with bring back the vision, and the excitement along with a full Apple ecosystem experience for home users and professionals, that includes the courage to move forward while keeping an eye at the present. I think Apple has cut their own potential short a bit with the dumb of thinner and simplification.

I disagree with other people that Ive needs to go, I think he would just be better in the role he used to be in, rather than this ambiguous "design chief" role. Tim is very capable, but perhaps not the visionary as a CEO we would hope for. Like Ive I think he might be better suited in the role he had before he was CEO. There is no doubt he is a good leader, and amazing at many aspects of running a business like supply chain management. He's just running the company text-book from business school, good for Stock holders now but that doesn't make him the visionary that APPLE could use as CEO.

I would like them to get back to concentrating on Apple Computers - the things that made the company - on a regular basis. None of this ~1000 days of intervals between updates. No more obsession with thinness at the cost of practicality. No more priorities on emojis and watch bands! More customisation with iOS. Get back to making AirPort devices - you know, the ones that are highly regarded to be the best on the market. Stop trying to be a fashion brand!
Lastly - make this year's iPhone something truly unique. Innovate and make it feel like when Steve Jobs introduced the original iPhone and we were all wowed. Bring back Steve. 
