Stop making macOS worse.
I mean having to type in a Terminal command to be able to get the option to install programs not in the App Store back to Settings, wtf. This is the wrong way to force developers into the App Store to get $ or what it is about. Security? Also, Canon scanners' buttons have stopped functioning due to High Sierras "improved" security.

A Mac Pro that doesn't suck, is user-upgradable, and not stupidly expensive.

A MacBook Pro with a keyboard that doesn't break, a trackpad that isn't obscenely oversized, and that courageously loses the touchbar.

A new Mac Mini that isn't a blatant rip-off.

Better quality software.

Here's something I would like to see, but for some inexplicable reason, I feel we never will: a backlit keyboard for the iMac. I understand that it would have to be wired, but so what? I preferred the wired keyboard anyway.

Nothing stopping it from being wireless.

Keyboard is fine on mine, like the trackpad size, touch bar is excellent. What I want is the addition of a 17" with space for double the memory modules (with cannon lake and LPDDR4, that'd make 64GB a possibility), a larger battery, and a GPU that isn't a joke.

I would personally love a MBP with a really bad ass integrated video option like the rumors about the AMD stuff. My 2014 model with the Iris Pro graphics may have been a little slow but it was easily the best performing in terms of glitchy/buggy behavior and even the games I play. Also an option without Touch Bar maybe, I've never really used this, probably wouldn't miss it.

Oh and bring back desktop audio recording so I don't have to install iShowU Audio Capture to get it.

Wireless backlit keyboards seem to be a rarity, even in the PC world. It's possible, but it would have to have a powerful enough battery to ensure that it didn't need to be charged too often.

I mean ultimately I'd like to see one with a TouchID sensor too or in the future FaceID on an iMac. Some kind of biometrics on the iMac would be nice. Not being able to use Apple Pay or Wallet on the iMac is kind of annoying.

Great ideas, everyone; I've seen a lot that I like in all of the posts here, or at least the ones that I've given likes to. Here's my top wish for 2018: a return of the 17-inch MacBook Pro, with the option for a matte display. Give it at least 4 each of USB Type-A and Type-C ports, the latter all with integrated Thunderbolt 3. Slap in an HDMI port (or maybe even two.) Legacy ports I can get from accessories. Pack the most powerful CPU and GPU and the most RAM you can fit in it at the top build-to-order tier. Restore the function keys' row to the keyboard on models with the Touch Bar, which should also be offered as an option on all models, but not made mandatory. If possible, fit a full-sized keyboard on it, including navigation keys, number pad, extra function keys, and backlighting. Sell it in at least the colors you do MacBook Pros now (Silver and Space Gray,) and perhaps additionally Space Black, White (as a throwback to the iBooks, of course,) Gold, and/or Rose Gold. As for the rest of the MacBook family, I think an overlapping tiered strategy would do nicely with respect to model options: an 11- and 13-inch MacBook Air, a 13- and 15-inch MacBook, and a 15- and 17-inch MacBook Pro (or they could do 12 and 14 inches on the Air, at least a 14-incher with the plain MacBook, perhaps adding in one of the other two sizes, and a 14- and a 16-inch Pro.) A headless server and/or BYOKVM machine like a new Mac mini or the promised modular Mac Pro would also be neat, but I can wait for that.

Disable wi fi until I return home.

Most heartedly agreed!

Do you know just how annoying it is to intently "turn off WiFi" from Control Centre (why call it that if it doesn't properly control the functions laid out within it in the first place), only to find when I try to load a page or an app tries to update data while I'm travelling on the bus or in the gym I'm unable to?

iPhone is connected to 3G/LTE on carrier (approved provider of iOS devices, btw)
Bus comes in range to Canadian Tire, Tim Hortons, or other similar business that requires a policy agreement page to load up and accepted by an end user BEFORE getting a valid IP Gateway. This unfortunately affects my ability to load a new webpage in Safari, or any app to load more information or update data due to the connection to WiFi. If I'm at the gym and their WiFi is down ... then my applicaiton such as Strong cannot provide updates of my work out (sets/reps/exercises, heart rate data, move data) to the iOS app in my iPhone. I have to wait until I'm home for my data to be updated. This is even though I've USED the Apple Shortcut to Disable WiFi only to find that well I have to go deeper into settings to do so. To me why put the Control Centre function if it doesn't do what has always did before iOS 10?! SO annoyed.

I'm very curious how those using remote Home connected apps are affected when travelling or at work with a WiFi outage occurs?

PS: Yes I know Apple updated the warning for Control Centre WiFi behaviour in iOS 11.1 yet still it's annoying.

Except my new 2 month old iMac has bluetooth problems so bad that I had to get out my 15 year old Microsoft wired mouse to get any work done. Oh, and try to charge the current Magic Mouse. Essentially the iMac needs to be shut down. If you plug in the charger with the mouse on, everything goes fubar. If you then try to turn the mouse off, and on again, then fubar.

Wired simply works better and is more reliable.

Sadly, this is very true where bluetooth is concerned. However, there are other, more reliable wireless device protocols that *do* work well and have done so for a long time. For example, Logitech keyboards and mice. Work like a champ! Wireless didn't start getting flaky until we moved to using Bluetooth for everything. I can appreciate the desire to standardize on a single protocol but would rather have reliable service.

Focus on quality software. Step away from annual OS release cycle.

What you call the next round of updates is largely meaningless, but your point is still good. Personally I would like to see Apple move to a more distributed, agile model:

1. OS (for whatever platform) is owned by an OS team... and they keep adding new features with frequent updates
2. Every app is 'owned' by an app team... and THEY keep adding new features with frequent updates

Apple has had a great run using their current approach but technology is just moving too fast to keep this up.

I like to see a new Mac Mini with some Pro features under 1000 Euros and an apple watch I can use without having an iPhone. I would have bought one, if the iPhone would not have been a must. My Mac Mini is End 2012 and I need a new version soon. If Apple is not delivering by May, I will switch back to Microsoft. The money is on the table. I hope Apple will deliver.

Something along the lines of setting a reminder for when you return home.

Just have it disable wi fi and enable when back at home.

What do I expect from Apple? Nothing. 2018 is the year I leave Apple and their products behind in every capacity. And before anyone jumps in with the 'you won't be missed' comments, I don't care, I certainly won't miss Tim Cook squeezing my t1t for every penny.

A reason why i should spend a lot of money to buy an Apple watch with cellular connectivity and a reason why i should pay 15 dollars more a month to the wireless company.
Otherwise i am content with my analog watch that i have had for years (keeps great time).
Saving money is not a crime and apple executives don't need any more money.

I would say that they need to make a deal with the wireless carriers to make the monthly rate to get cellular on a watch a lot cheaper. It shouldn't be priced like a tablet.

Even more than an affordable new Mac Pro, I'd like to see Apple's take on a Dell Canvas.
30" 5K Retina Display, 100% Adobe RGB colourspace, 10bpc support, Apple pencil Pro (incorporating programmable buttons), 120Hz ProMotion, etc. All in a nice Apple design case and adjustable mount of course.

It would be interesting, but would it sell more than a couple hundred thousand units? Given the price ($2,500-ish?) and the limited market demographic, I think it’s just too niche.

Decency. Honesty.

lol Apple could ask the same of us but they're far too professional even if we drive them all into therapy.

Wish list is short this year:

MBP keycaps that don't wear down and finally look like blobs instead of A, N, S...
I'd include C and V but I'm not big on cutting and pasting :p

(I do admit to not having the latest model of the MacBook Pro)

Outside of that I'm happy. Loving my long delayed iPad upgrade to the 10.5 iPad Pro.

Doubtful it would. Very niche indeed. But hey, Dell did it. Wacom has been doing it for decades. There's obviously a decent market out there. So why shouldn't Apple? Look at the ripples they have caused just releasing the Apple Pencil. Anyway it's just what I personally would like to see Apple produce in 2018. It would restore some of my lost faith in Apple to see them not shying away from niche projects as if they are some kind of unimportant distraction. This road down to consumerist focus they have been on is just not an exciting one to me. And it shows... Apple have become increasingly dull during Tim Cook's reign (I can't even watch their keynotes anymore, it's so painful).

Ignoring "the crazy ones" and ultimately driving them away is perilous. In the meantime, I'll keep dreaming of that 30" iPad-Pro-esque, macOS drawing tablet. I might even mock up a few 3D concept renders/illustrations and send them to Tim and Phil, just for the hell of it. :D

Wireless future? Lol - wireless is for noobs who either don't have decent wired internet connections, or don't understand the damage caused to DNA by wireless radiation 1m from your head, or suffer ADD from not checking their Facebook feed every 2 minutes. Get a life. Live long and prosper.

I bet you still use floppy disks
[doublepost=1516209695][/doublepost]
We're not there yet. Plus a great deal of third-party hardware still uses type a.
We won't get there without a push
[doublepost=1516209743][/doublepost]
That future is not here yet. Wired surpass wireless in every performance aspect.
Without a push we will never get there.
[doublepost=1516209796][/doublepost]
The move to a wireless future must be why Apple disbanded the Airport Wi-Fi team back in November 2016...
https://www.macrumors.com/2016/11/21/apple-ceases-airport-wireless/
They did that because iCloud is replacing the time machine and they have nothing innovative to offer in the few years between now and LTE as the main source of internet.
