In the What to Expect article that we shared yesterday, we covered everything we think we'll see from Apple in 2019 based both on historical release data and the current rumors that are circulating about the company's 2019 product plans.

A new modular Mac Pro is in the works, and 2019 may be the year that we finally get the AirPower. Apple has more than a dozen original TV shows, which are set to debut through an upcoming streaming TV service that's coming in early 2019. Three new iPhones are on the horizon, and we may see updated AirPods, a new HomePod, and perhaps Apple-branded over-the-ear headphones.

We're also expecting a new Apple Watch, updated versions of iOS and macOS with exciting new features, a refreshed iPad mini, and a redesigned lower-cost iPad, which could be 10 inches instead of 9.7. There's also a chance that Apple has some surprises in the works that we don't yet know about.

AR smart glasses, a virtual reality headset, an Apple Car, and autonomous driving software are all products Apple is rumored to be working on, with no official launch date known. We want to hear from the MacRumors community - what are you hoping to see Apple release in 2019?

Are there specific features you're hoping Apple will implement in iOS 13 or macOS 10.15? New AirPods and HomePod functions you're hoping for? Additions to the Mac and iPhone lineup?

Let us know what you want to see in the comments, and make sure to check out our What to Expect post for a look at the current rumors. Apple's 2019 product plans will become clearer in the early months of the year, and as always, we'll be covering every Apple rumor in depth here at MacRumors.

The MacRumors forums are also a rich resource for discussing upcoming products and rumors, and with so many product launches on the horizon for 2019, our forums are the place to be for lively discussions on what's coming.

Thank you to all of our readers and forum members for making MacRumors the absolute best source of Apple news, rumors, and advice on the web. We wouldn't be here without you, and we look forward to another rumor-filled year in 2019. Happy New Year!

[doublepost=1546363862][/doublepost]Cheaper prices. The price increases are unjustified.

No more price increase would be okay, but why unjustified? The iPhone X/XS/XS Max have an expensive OLED display, more pricey than LCD, an expensive biometric system, more pricey than Touch ID, and are made of steel, that's more expensive than aluminium. I think it's the justification you are missing for the price increase. The same seems is true to me for theMac Mini, the internals are way more powerful than the last incarnations, 4 and 6 core CPUs, SSD-only storage etc.

Their profit margins have increased, they have always offered the newest models at the same starting price as the previous year, last year they tested the waters with the X and found out people are willing to pay more so they jacked up all the prices. Take the XR, it doesn't even have an OLED and 3D touch and it costs $749. The iPad Pros are even worse, they went from $649 to $799, and as an even bigger **** you they decided to keep the 10,5" from last year for the same price as before.

What I’d like to see ...

1. A simplified hardware line-up, based around regular and “pro” lines (Mac (formerly Mac Mini) and Mac Pro; iMac and iMac Pro; MacBook (get rid of the current MacBook and rebrand the MacBook Air as the new MacBook) and MacBook Pro; iPad and iPad Pro; and iPhone and iPhone Pro).

2. The re-branded MacBook offered in 13 and 15 inch versions.

3. The MacBook Pro offered in 15 inch and 17 inch versions.

4. New LG manufacted but Apple branded (including industrial design) displays available in 4K, 5K and 8K versions (with the 8K available in an ultra widescreen version), all compatible with the Mac (formerly Mac Mini) and Mac Pro (although the 8K dislay may require and external graphics module to work with the regular Mac).

5. Offer lossless (CD quality) and hi resolution (better than CD quality - 48/24 to 192/24) streaming tiers to iTunes.

6. Start selling lossless (CD) and hi resolution music downloads in the iTunes Store.

Maybe an update about Siri situ Bluetooth devices. I can’t understand why there’s such a bad sound with Siri, but no problem with music

Lower prices and better OSs in terms of openess and less hoops to jump through for developers. They need to look after the consumer more than the shareholder.

Whatever you do Apple, please don’t change the 10 year old massive volume indicator graphic that inhibits other touches under its intrusive size for several annoying seconds. I’m just getting used to it.

It was alright when you could see through it clearly.

Now that they've put a 9000% gaussian blur that just looks like off-grey, it blocks the whole center part of the screen. Just one of the many asinine design choices from Apple of late.

For 2019, I'd love to see Apple end their incessant input-blocking, but I won't hold my breath.

A 15 inch MacBook Air, its been rumored for years but has never seen the light of day. Apple has always reserved the bigger screen for the high end, high priced portables. The last non pro notebook from Apple to have a larger screen was the 14 inch iBook released in 2002 and it was crippled by a 1024x768 panel for its entire run.

- Apple Cinema Display with 5k+ resolution that looks beautiful on my desk
- Apple Wireless Keyboard with built-in Touch Bar and Touch ID, so I can use my Macbook Pro in clamshell mode with the external display and still have the benefits available when typing on the laptop natively.

The same seems is true to me for theMac Mini, the internals are way more powerful than the last incarnations, 4 and 6 core CPUs, SSD-only storage etc.

But there’s no new tech on the Mac Mini to justify the price. SSD? USB-C? Faster CPU? They’ve already made Macs that have these, in much smaller form, so it’s not like there’s new ground here. Hell, they even kept the same design and just made it dark. Plus, the faster/more core CPUs are Intel work, not theirs. According to this logic, there should’ve been a 60% increase in price with each iteration. The only reason the power jumped so much from the previous model is that they waited so long that they couldn’t find slow two-core CPUs to jam into the thing.

Cost increases don’t have to do with the product, it has to do with all the non-revenue generating things they still have to pay for, like Apple Car and movies/TV shows and AirPower. That crap costs a lot of money and those employees want to be paid as well.

Primarily lower prices, better keyboards on the portables, and hilariously powerful GPU's.

Mouse support and 3rd party apps for iPad Lro would also be nice, to make it more transformable

-Phone with smaller screen size (preferably with headphone jack, but not 100% necessary).

-Computers/laptops with easily accessed and swappable RAM and SSDs (standardized form factor, if possible), and with a variety of I/O ports.

Don't care, so long as it's thin. More thinness. It's the only thing that makes any sense in electronic products. Don't care how long it takes to render a 3D model, or how much storage or what graphics it has, just make it the hell thinner.

I want to see Apple take their time and actually but innovative technology into their devices. I don’t want Apple to just run devices or products out knowing that is as Apple users will just suck them up. I wanna see Apple do away with the S line and completely revamp their phones from year to year. No more incremental upgrades that are hard to decipher by the naked eye. As someone who has stood by and purchased Apple devices and products for years upon years I want to see my money going into something that I can while heartedly feel like I do have the absolute best in cutting edge technology.

Yes and, in the interest of taking their time, they should get off the ridiculous annual schedule of updating/replacing everything whether or not they have anything worthwhile to add. Only update the products and OSs when they have something worth updating it for...which could happen any time during the year, not always in the same month or two.

Hardware:
  • iPhone 6-8/SE sized Face ID iPhone
  • New Mac Pro - which I suspect is going to ARM given the huge wait that we’ve had for this. Does it really take 2 years to design a modular intel workstation?)
  • New iMac design - which I suspect is also going to be ARM & with Face ID
  • New MacBook - again, ARM and Face ID.
  • Regular iPad - more like the Air
  • iPad Pro - ships with Smart Keyboard with trackpad
  • HomePod Beats edition - ie much cheaper
  • Apple TV HDMI dongle - ie much cheaper
Software:

  • iOS dark mode
  • iOS trackpad/mouse support on iPad. Used more sparingly than the Mac & optimised for those working on text based productivity & using the UI witgout hdcingbyo use your finger when the machine has a keyboard on it. The pencil should remain the tool of choice for drawing and creative apps.
  • iOS Redesigned UI - less of the gleaming white UI & less of the navigation controls at the top of the screen on big tall phones please
  • iOS - multiuser on iPad. Guest mode on iPhone.
  • iOS - true multitasking on iPad when it’s plugged into power
  • iOS - better filesystem support and resolving the iCloud ‘organised by app type’ vs exposing the user’s document tree situation
  • iOS - springboard revamp. At least let people arrange apps and folders however they’d like to across the screen
  • Mac - make marzipan apps good & relatively easy to add Mac support to existing iOS iPad apps
  • Mac - UI refresh. Bring in the best of iOS and make it work similarly to that OS eg make the Mac system preferences like the settings on iPad. They’re needlessly different. And repeat.
  • Mac - launchpad revamp. It’s always felt grafted onto the Mac
  • Mac - make installing and uninstalling marzipan apps to work how it does on iOS.
Not too much to ask for?

I want an iPad OS and an open to external storage and peripherals USB C port on all iPad models. Mouse support would shut some people up as well.

Full desktop class finder, disk utility and dropping the need for iTunes on a computer to do basic things (like managing music).

This would make an iPad a real replacement for a computer for a lot of people I think. And is all software.
