I know this is old school but I would love the return of the iPod nano

and an operating system I am not scared to upgrade to.
the most recent one played havoc with my 2012 MacBook Pro and I had to buy a new computer. yeah your plan worked Apple

All macs to have user upgradable SSD and RAM.
12, 14, 16" MBP
12, 14, 16" MBA
MBP/A to have choice of fn keys or touchbar, or both for larger size(s).
Mac Mid - a slightly smaller, and much cheaper Mac Pro but w non-Xeon and less slots etc.
Prosumer quality standalone displays of various sizes, designed by Apple
Return of the Airport - it's not always about direct profits, the profits partly come from the ecosystem.
Quality control
The ability to reverse out of OS upgrades (see Quality control)
Functionality and form, not just form
Stop being stubborn if you've made a bad decision, just be humble and reverse it
Stop soldering everything in just to deliberately make repairs/upgrades difficult/impossible, this might make more profits in the short run, but it is killing Apple in the long run, and is horrible for the planet
Don't forget - “If you keep your eye on the profit, you’re going to skimp on the product. But if you focus on making really great products, then the profits will follow.” ― Steve Jobs

A non-Pro iPad with USB-C so I can finally ditch the Lightning to USB 3.0 dongle and use card readers without needing to hook up to a power source without breaking the bank.

a $99 home pod would be nice I don't need crazy sound just the hey siri part for my smart home. I could then ditch the many alexas and google homes

Oh and just a thing that annoys me that I don't remember apple doing often in the past.... ****** STOP announcing products/services that have deadlines that cant be met or IOS features that wont show up until mid cycle its just annoying and its starting to remind me of google.

Things I would like to see but probably won’t happen due to insufficient demand: iPad mini Pro, Mac mini Pro (larger enclosure with a PCIe slot for GPU) and a 27” 5K monitor based on the iMac chassis.

Things others would like to see but probably won’t happen due to insufficient demand: SE-sized iPhone, Mac Pro mini (the fabled xMac/mid-tower without Xeon/ECC) and a round Watch.

I wonder if Apple would truly consider engineering a double thick Mac mini (2 stacked as a single unit) that would contain a dGPU (5300M/5500M seems reasonable) and additional cooling for an 8-core 9th Gen CPU (i9-9900) or 10th Gen (Comet Lake-S i7- 10700). This would allow hosting companies to still consider the unit, even though their racks would only be able to house half the amount. Aesthetically, it might look a little weird, but the vents on the back would be plenty big enough to exhaust the additional heat of a 55w TDP GPU and a 65w CPU.

Ditto, on a 4K and 5K Cinema Display using the XDR industrial design and enough ports to make it a viable docking solution for most, without the headaches of the old 27” Thunderbolt Display.

Here's a daily convo I have with Apple Watch:
Set the timer for 60 seconds.
Siri: I can't set the timer for a specific time. Should I set an alarm instead?
F-off Siri.
Siri: I won't respond to that.
Set the timer for 60 seconds.
Siri: For how long?
F-off Siri.
Siri: I won't respond to that.
Set the timer for 60seconds.
Siri: OK, I minute and counting.

In our What to Expect article that we shared yesterday, we covered everything that we're expecting to see from Apple based on current product rumors and historical release data.

New iPhones with 5G, OLED displays, and upgraded 3D triple-lens camera system with significant augmented reality improvements are in the works, Apple is working on updated Macs and iPads, and AirTags, an innovative new accessory for tracking lost devices, is on the horizon.

Want-2020-800x450.jpg

We could also see a lower-cost HomePod, new over-ear headphones, and there could perhaps be some surprises in store like an augmented reality headset or an ARM-based Mac, but those aren't sure bets for 2020 at this time. There are also some outlandish rumors, like folding iPhones and iPads, plus rumors about the Apple Car, virtual reality headsets, and other far off products continue to circulate.

We want to hear from the MacRumors community. What are you hoping to see Apple release in 2020?

Are there new features you're hoping Apple will bring in iOS 14 or macOS 10.16? New headphones? Updated Mac features? New additions to the iPhone lineup?

Let us know what you want to see in the comments, and make sure to check out our What to Expect article for a look at the current rumors. We'll learn more about Apple's 2020 product plans in the early months of the year, and as always, we'll be covering all Apple rumors in-depth here at MacRumors.

Our MacRumors forums are also a useful resource for discussing upcoming products and rumors, and with so many new products rumored for 2020, our forums are the place to be for discussions on what's coming.

Thank you to all of our readers and our forum members for making MacRumors the number one site for Apple news, rumors, and advice on the web. We wouldn't be here without you, and we look forward to another year of rumors in 2020. Happy New Year!

I would like to see a customer base that do not whinge at everything Apple does. The new products they bring are generally the first of their kind and almost always lead the way. No other company does that so consistently.

I'd love to see people reacting positive about Apple, because that’s what spurs them on to be even greater. And we know Apples great is better than anyone’s.

Stop trying to make and sell content.
Focus on innovative hardware and software.
Expanded health monitoring in apple watch.

My Wishlist:

  1. Airtags. I have high hopes that these will be amazing. Hopefully they pull it off.
  2. 5G across all iPhone models.
  3. Remove the notch on all iPhone models.
  4. Revamp Watch OS. It's not bad, but it's still not particularly user friendly in my opinion.
  5. Custom Watch faces.
  6. Apple Watch 6 to have a significantly (2x+) faster processor. I wanted an S5 but as the proc is over a year old (same as S4), I have my doubts as to how future proof it is.

ARM MacBooks. 2x the single-core, multi-core and GPU performance of the 16" MBP, 4x battery life, less expensive

It'll happen when Apple thinks they can rip the band-aid off - replace the x86 notebook with an ARM notebook without people screaming bloody murder about broken apps and hardware support.

Apple also will have to be able to scale up their ARM design to replace the higher end pro machines and not just the MacBook before they can do this.

improved Catalyst app support

pretty much guaranteed in the next release (Snow Catalina) as part of evolution. Until then, they are limited to maintenance.

unified App Store

I've heard they are working toward a release this year or next (third-hand though).

Also, more frequent meaningful MacBook updates.

Pretty sure Apple wants this too. The problem is that they don't control when the display manufacturers, intel, or and will themselves have meaningful (e.g. outside part number increments and single digit increases to metrics) updates to the underlying components - and Apple puts Mac redesigns typically on a 4-6 year schedule.

Apparently they can't accelerate their redesign timeline/process either, to the point that a whole line might languish without meaningful updates (MacBook Air, Mac Pro)

Adding new features such as XDR display, matte display option, 5G option would be cool.

They'll probably apply learnings from the XDR display, but there are costs and power usage reasons to not have the same panel/lighting/cooling design in a consumer product.

5G is majorly mis-sold to consumers. The new radios are a very small part of it, and I'd recommend people not make major long-term investments as early adopters. There's a reason you aren't seeing 5G across any phone line, but rather 5G upgrades to base 4G models.

Presumably Apple has now negotiated licensing terms that would allow them to add 5G as an option without having to pay Qualcomm points on the retail value of a whole computer. I still wouldn't be willing to pay much to be locked into this year's 5G modems for the lifetime of my computer.

3) Ability for a second Do Not Disturb schedule on iPhone. For example, my phone goes into DND mode at night. I'd also like to be able to say "Siri do not disturb for one hour" so I can take a nap without turning off my ringer. When I do that I inevitably forget to turn it back on.

That sounds impromptu, not scheduled. Can't you do that with the existing impromptu options? (DND for one hour)

4) Cut apps off from using camera, mic, location on iOS when not active. I'm talking to you facebook, instagram, google maps, etc. All privacy intruders.
Apps should already only be able to use the camera and mic (1) after you approve them and (2) only in the foreground - unless they are VOIP apps.

Apps should already only be able to use location (1) after you approve them and (2) require a second approval to continue to use location in the background.

Better external screen support in iPadOS. That make my day.
HomePuck, a smaller, cheaper HomePod for the kitchen and bedroom:)

1. A touchscreen laptop that runs Mac OS. Compete with Microsoft and their surface for once. iPadOS is still very limited.
2. All products use USB 3.0. No exceptions.
3. A television set with Apple TV integrated.
4. Better gaming integration to Mac OS.
5. An iPhone with a smaller screen...iPhone SE style or smaller.
6. Give us your car.

That’s weird, she just tells “your timer is set for one minute”. Works ever time, exactly the same way.

Do you ever clean your microphone? Maybe it’s packed with grime, that really kills the accuracy of voice recognition.

Customer satisfaction is through the roof. 97-99% range. Trolls (regular type as well as foreign provocateurs) and other members of the Apple hate crowd who hang out in these forums... now that’s a different story. Not much can be done with them except to swat them down when they lie.
