What would make me happy is a MacBook Air with:
- 14" display
- at least 2 thunderbolt ports + magsafe
- 1080p camera
- design like those beautiful renders that we have seen here
- and released before April when I have some long trips planned :)

Consumer level monitor with built in camera (and possibly touch) that works with multi monitor support added to the iPad and an upcoming iPhone 14 pro - dock it to the monitor with USB C, Magic Keyboard and trackpad/mouse to get an iOS desktop experience.

Apple TV with camera support (and some seriously advanced microphone tech) for living room FaceTime.

AR glasses for an Apple Watch/CarPlay like HUD when I’m out biking.

A big HomePod (for when my current ones die).

Updated iPod touch with edge to edge display, Touch ID on the side button.

That’s all probably gonna happen except it won’t be here until the fall. :(

Bring Apple Watch as fully standalone device with NO dependency (NO need to iPhone or similar):

Time For The Apple Watch to Separate From The iPhone

It’s Time for the Apple Watch to Break Free From the iPhone

Do not forget a camera to take pictures, work as scanner (including Apple Live Text), read QR codes, etc. Then, I am sold. An extra bonus would be to connect it to the Mac.

ARM Mac mini with at least 32 GB RAM option and support for more ports. At least give us 4 USB-C + 2 standard USB A ports, like in the older Intel models.

I would like to see an actual useful iOS update with all of the following:

1. redesign the notification center. It's ridiculous. At the very least add "Clear All" button immediately, even if there's only one notification.

2. after Face-ID recognizes you, go directly into the phone home screen. You shouldn't have to swipe up after the phone recognizes you.

3. give us an LED visual for notifications in addition to sound and vibration. Allow us to change the colors of the LED light based on what the notification app is.
The fine folks who like things the way they are can just leave things as is.

4. give us an always-on screen for the clock. On the always-on screen we should also be able to choose if we want to see if we have any notifications (the amount and the app) or if we to just want to see the clock.
Once again, the people who don't like it should be able to turn it off. No more Apple forcing us to do stuff.

5. add haptic feedback to the keyboard and make it possible to customize different intensities to your heart's content.
It's beyond crazy that you have no feedback whatsoever if you're typing and the phone is on mute. Those who are concerned with battery or simply don't like this should be able to turn it off.

6. make it possible to adjust volume for independent apps and settings and not this general thing they're doing. Separate volume control for keyboard volume, music volume, ring volume, system volume.
I, for example, would like the keyboard clicks to be much louder than they are but without it affecting the volume on the entire phone or the ring and notifications volume. It's silly of Apple to force it to be like this.

7. add suggestions from the address book as you start a phone number.
Common now Apple, this has been available for the last 15 years on Android.

8. make it possible to customize the texting app in every conceivable way. Font size, bubble size shape color etc.

9. make it possible to schedule a text message to be sent at a certain time/date. This is a basic feature. Compose your message now and schedule it to be sent when the time is right. I used to use this feature all the time when I had to text people who are in different time zones when they have to get the text at a certain time in their time zone but it's way too late for me to stay up to send the text.

10. use an OS-wide clipboard and make cut and/or copy not expire until you, the user, cleans it.
You should be able to copy text now and paste it tomorrow if you want to.
And 9b make it possible to copy multiple copy entries ready to paste any one of them by long pressing, at least the last 10 cut/copies should be possible.

11. in Mail give us the option to NOT go to the next email when you are deleting an email but to go back to the inbox. Those who want to keep things the way they are should be able to turn this feature off.

12. make it possible to move the icons on the desktop anywhere you want to.

more quality software for iPad (pro) : either from apple or 3rd party
- more powerful office software
- AAA games ported to iPad

improvements to iPadOS
- customisable Home Screen (not having to be tied to a fixed top left to bottom right grid)
- extended monitor support (not just mirroring)
- expansion of the “quick note’ like floating windows to other apps
- horizontal split screen mode / maybe even both / have the split more adjustable instead of the fixed 50-50 or 1/3-2/3
- file system improvements with more finder like capabilities

Big screen LCD iPhone (no more OLED please).

Better iOS releases on day one. It shouldn’t be like playing Russian roulette installing a new OS.

- a good 5K monitor @ 27" or so for a not-insane amount of money.
- an M1 successor to the ultra-thin retina MacBook, but not gimped with a bad keyboard this time
- iPhone Mini 14
- this is tiny, but Family Sharing could use a shared contacts feature

Hoping for an  Motorcycle with dual Thunderbolt exhaust ports spewing bits for propulsion.

In our What to Expect guide that we shared yesterday, we went over everything that we're expecting to see from Apple in 2022 based on current product rumors and historical release data.

What-You-Want-Apple-2022.jpg

New iPhone 14 models with a hole punch camera and no notch are a possibility, plus we could see more powerful Apple silicon iMacs and Mac minis. The second-generation AirPods Pro are coming, and there's a significantly redesigned MacBook Air on the horizon. Rumors also suggest that 2022 is the year that we could see Apple's first dedicated AR/VR product with the launch of a mixed reality headset expected to cost upwards of $3000.

We know what we think we're going to see from Apple in 2022, but we want to hear from the MacRumors community. What do you want to see Apple release this year?

Are there new features you're hoping to see in iOS 16 or macOS 13? New iPhone features? What do you hope to get out of Apple's AR/VR headset?

Let us know what you want to see in the comments, and take a look at our What to Expect guide for a look at all of the current rumors. We'll learn more about Apple's 2022 product plans during the early months of the year, and as usual, we'll have in-depth coverage of all rumors here at MacRumors.com.

Our MacRumors forums also serve as an excellent resource and community for discussing upcoming products and rumors, and with a new product category and some exciting iPhone changes planned for 2022, or forums are the place to be for all Apple-related discussions.

Thank you to our readers and our forum members for making MacRumors the number one site for Apple news, rumors, and advice on the web. Better QA to fix bugs. More pro app support. The update cycle for FCP and other pro apps is getting a bit sad.

I would like to see impressive features like Sidecar continue to be expanded. Why doesn’t it support portrait mode yet and why can’t Apple figure out a way to use the XDR iPad as a HDR display for FCP. That would sell a ton of iPads and give a lot more practical pro use for the XDR iPad Pro.

XDR displays should support rec2020 and it’s a shame they do not. Apple needs to support rec2020 if they want to be taken more seriously in the professional color grading community. I realize it’s impossible to support full rec2020 right now but some TVs are capable of 80% now and it’s one of the important factors of HDR. To add to that Apple needs to get rid of the dimming zones. Again not easy to do but it’s going to really hold XDR back as a serious grading display by the top in the industry.

Apple needs to support blackmagic raw in FCP. It’s an industry standard and a NLEs job is to support and edit industry standards. Apple also needs to help Blackmagic add ProRes raw support to Resolve. Again an industry standard should not be limited to certain NLEs.

make iPadOS a better computer OS. No matter how powerful the hardware gets the iPads are still very limited and overpriced as a computer replacement. I love my iPad Pro but there is no denying it has limited usefulness compared to my M1 MBA which costs less.

would love to see phone cameras add some kind of aperture control. For video it’s horrible we still only have shutter speed to control the exposure outdoors in sunlight. It will be hard for many pros to take iPhone video seriously until they have a proper way to control video exposure. All the neat flashy features will never make up for that most basic video need.

AppleTV needs to use the more cutting edge GPUs if they want to push gaming. I actually love using the Apple TV for gaming with a Xbox controller but it’s one of the lowest performing Apple devices for gaming. Especially since they are most likely driving 4K displays. I think Apple should use their higher end GPUs in the Apple TV’s and promote higher end gaming as a gaming console alternative. They should also advertise and promote game controllers, Apple Arcade and help port more AAA games to Apple TV. So much potential but I feel like it’s held back and just not pushed very much.

Xcode for iPad. We have some great hardware now and we should be able to use that hardware to develop serious apps. We need more content creation apps and apps for pros to take tablets seriously. Motion could be nice on a iPad as well. We already have GarageBand. Why not expand that to Logic? Apple has a great tablet here but again they only seem to go so far and then stop being innovative with it.

When I end a FaceTime call, I want it to end! That green Join icon which stays for as long as possible is annoying, because you can’t immediately redial when a call drops. Takes several tries to finally end.

Another thing: fix the HomePod Mini + M1 Mac Mini no sound after sleep bug. It’s annoying AF.

Better software, really!

In order of importance/preference for me.

Summing it up in two words: reliability and innovation, two things that were apparently missing in 2021 (Ok, maybe except 14 & 16 MacBook Pro but those prices are out of my reach anyway).

- Apple Watch 7 keyboard limited to English and Chinese. The feature that made me jump on it is not working for me
- better keyboard prediction system. With swift it selects words that I never used and with letters I did not passed by with my finger
- Apple Watch with battery that really lasts at least 3 days and round form factor, more health features (blood pressure, body composition), real continuous heart rate monitoring (no more 75 bpm updated 10 minutes ago)
- macOS performance improvements and customisation, sync customisation with iOS, watchOS and iPadOS
- iOS performance. Just tested a Fold3 in store and its damn fast with gorgeous display
- iOS user interface decisions that really make sense. I am on my AW trying to write text and it prompts me to use my iPhone! WTH??? Also universal back gesture on all apps across the system, some require that I reach the upper left corner
- Real iPhone innovation - foldable phone like fold so that I can have iPhone and iPad in one. Same price as 13 Pro Max. Not everyone wants a cameraphone that protrudes like hell and weights a ton while still using the same form factor as the first one. If google had an approximated value preposition in services I would be very tempted to switch right now
- A non pro laptop (price wise) with a proper sized display - 16 on Air internals (I would settle for 15 too!)
- Price reduction on Apple one (one year subscription option with 2 months free)
- Applecare+ worldwide with on-site pickup

Wishful thinking, but yesterday I played a full hour with a Galaxy Fold3 and come out really impressed. Apple still wins in the ecosystem affair of things (data sharing between devices, start on one device and continue in another - when it actually really works...), but iOS performance is feeling subpar.

An overhaul of Apple Music's algorithms and its UI. I'm on a holiday trial of Spotify and finding the song suggestions are right on target for my taste. This could be the year I switch to Spotify unless Apple Music improves.

I switched to Spotify to take advantage of their 3 month trial because of that reason. Apple Music just feels out of date. They hype up this Lossless and spatial audio, but I think I care more about usability than a feature that I don't know the difference in what I'm hearing.

I also want Apple to look at TVOS and try to come up with a way to improve it. I want smaller app icons so I can fit more apps up there on the top shelf, maybe more variety in wallpapers, better use of the Apple TV app (You stop a show when they are doing credits and the app thinks you still need to watch it), maybe forcing other apps like ESPN and MLB to actually update apps to fix user interface issues, stuff like that. If you are not going to update TVOS, then don't update it. I don't know the difference between TVOS 15 and TVOS 12. As far as I know, it's the same thing.
