But that’s how it works in every industry, with every brand. Also with Apple in the past. Everyone wants to optimise profit, they just have different highlights with their value proposition. i.e. Apple has really great processors on their base models, which is uncommon, but charge a lot for RAM/storage, which is also uncommon. It seems like they’ve found the sweat mix of feature-price spots.

And target customers matter. Of course the $700 Mac Pro wheels are overpriced, but they would probably sell the same amount if they were $100. Since you mentioned USB-C: I’d guess a very tiny amount of people care about USB 3 speeds. So even if it carries a small cost, I think it makes sense to remove it from the base model. I think things like higher base iCloud storage would impact way more people and would make sense.
Just because it works that way to some degree in every business doesn’t mean I want it to be the way Apple continues to operate. The thread is “what do you want to see from Apple in 2024?”, not “what’s the least imaginative way for a company to operate?”.

I think simple things like paying the extra few cents for a standardised port on all phones makes the iPhone line better for everyone. Simplicity over penny-pinching. I don’t really care about the Mac Pro wheels, they’re such an insignificant accessories for a product basically no one buys anyway, but on their biggest selling products they should go the extra mile to simplify and standardise things where they can.

This isn’t my only gripe with Cook btw, there are a bunch of other reasons I think Apple would benefit from some product-focused leadership.

Apple Watch with BP monitoring. New iPad mini. An all-screen iPhone with NO notches, pill holes or whatever that void is called (I can dream…).

Dare I say it. Siri.
Absolutely 100%. As I have mentioned many times, I want Siri to be able to search my photos again like it briefly was able to do, add information to a specific note in notes as it once was able to do. As a person, no longer young I often use Siri to reliably turn on smart plugs and I would like to see a really good Siri appear for once across all devices. Lately, when I have her read my notifications, she will stop in the middle and freeze, same with instant messages. I really want to see dependability. And please don’t make us use shortcuts to get things done. For majority of people I think that is difficult.

I would like to see Apple work more closely with the developers to encourage them to let their apps work with split screen. That is a function that could be really useful if more apps could be open that way. At the very least Apple should allow all of their native apps to be split screen. Often I need to be in settings and watching a YouTube video on how to do something in settings, it would be great to have them open at once. An iPad calculator app with split screen functionality is what I need when paying my bills.

I would also like to see Apple address sleep apnea in the health app. If it could hook up with the sleep apnea machines, that would be great. My CPAP machine could probably give that information to the health app .

- 15 inch MacBook Pro
- more native apps for MacBook pro
- Games on MacBook ( epic games )
- MacBook Air with multiple display support or 120hz
- faceID login MacBook
- round edges iPhone ( like the x model )

16 GB /512GB base configuration for all computers. They would bring in many first timers. Biggest gripe keeping many Windows folks away is the low starting configuration of 8/256.

1. Face ID to work from further away on iPad pro(sucks when using an external monitor)
2. CarPlay to support multiple garage doors
3. Wishlist to come back to movie purchases
4. Some kind of smart home display
5. Some kind of solution for the mirroring setting on stage manager. Either option to turn it off entirely or at least a way to change it with a shortcut.
6. Landscape camera on pro iPads.

An “off” switch or option for less HDRy computational photography on the iPhone.

A meeting with the heads of Apple Music to make suggestions on how to personalize the platform to curate music for users based on listening preferences, mood inferences from musical selections, along with better introductions to more relevant artists. And it wound’t hurt to have easier access to a listing of all newly released albums each week in alphabetical order (not Some goobers idea of whats hot) so people can decide for themselves. Dozens of new albums roll out each week across all genres. Apple only shows you a handful of them and makes it really hard to find the rest without already knowing what’s been released.
This is probably one of the best suggestions I've seen. I especially like mood inferences.

Legit question:

Why is it not possible to build a 10gig buffer into any-all Mac ssd storage that can be throttled on/up to support RAM needs when the chip is taxed?

This way your 8GRam phone or pad can spin up to 18 when needed. Or your 24G Ram MBP can spin up to 34 when playing whatever video game.

Or, if Apple won’t do a better job of increasing RAM spec, why is there not an external USBC type Ram option that I could just plug and play … in the the same way that I can plug in my external SSD storage when I need more hard drive space for my MBP?

Top of the class Applegpt integrated with iOS and macOS, that can answer almost any question, and can also do things on your device with a simple voice command.

Nothing. Apple products no longer excite me. Even for an innovative product like the vpro it’s priced beyond most consumers.

You've just described a swap file. Computers (Macs included) have been using them for a long long long time. Storage is too slow to use as normal RAM, but it's used to write out things that aren't actively needed in active memory onto storage to free up pages of memory for the CPU.

Thing is, for most people 60hz is fine, and it does not really matter to them. What does matter, though, is battery life. And what do you get with non-high refresh rate? Better battery life.
They should give 60hz displays ProMotion tech. That would save battery even more.

Well, it's because what you described is essentially just Swap space which is what it already does. The problem with relying on SSD storage for it though is SSD's wear out, RAM doesn't and as fast as the SSD is, it's still far slower than the RAM. The better solution is to just provide enough RAM in the first place. Swap is still important, but it should just be a backup to keep the computer from crashing outright if you run out of memory. It makes sense that swap may get more use as the computer gets old and software becomes more demanding, but it shouldn't be the plan for normal operation on a new machine.

External RAM would be even slower than the SSD, defeating the purpose. The point of RAM is to be faster than those things.

Basically, the solution is to just add more RAM. All of those other things require more effort to implement than just adding more RAM.

A usable iMac 30" in the 27" sized screen footbrint, lapstop sized bezels, 4TB storage minimum, 32GB RAM minimum though of course with such dated specs that would be the low end model. No reason screen shouldn't be OLED by now. iPad Pro 13" and should cost much less than their cheapest 13" laptop unless they also include the keyboard. So basically nothing I want will be released yet again and I'll hold onto my 2019 iMac. Would never consider 24" and their 27" screen is ancient and ludicrously expensive, as is any Mini with usable specs.

  • Revert the Watch exercise goal UI to the version from a few years ago: you can’t change the energy expenditure goal as quickly as you could before, and that’s especially bad when you use kJ.
  • Add a little bit of space between the keyboard and the screen of Mac laptops when shut, so the keyboard doesn’t mark the screen
  • Increase the radius on the front edge of the keyboard section of laptops
  • Photos.app: distinguish between photos taken by you and photos from others (eg family events) - there’s an exif tag for that, though it should also be reflected in making “memories”
  • Photos: tagging people without faces - looking the wrong way, masks, etc.
  • Photos: break up the picture directories more so that backups run faster
  • Books: don’t insist on having audiobooks in the library
  • Books: allow books, at least audiobooks, to be stored on an external/network drive and still sync with a phone
I’ve made all those suggestions, but they haven’t been implemented (unless they’re in Sonoma).
