For Apple Music to be fixed.
  • The Mac OS app needs to be completely rewritten
  • If I remove music from my library, it shouldn't be removed from any playlists either
  • Why is there a lag for the music to start playing when changing track?
  • Allow us to see other people's profiles and playlists more easily
  • Fix the queue management for 'play later'
  • Fix the artists section in the library. If a Drake song features Travis Scott, the artist shouldn't literally be "Drake & Travis Scott", it should be shown as two separate artists
  • Make Apply replay more fun

Apple used to be king of music. How is it so bad now? Spotify manages to get all of these things right so why can't Apple?

And then other things:
  • Improve Mac OS windows management
  • Stop gimping iPad OS and actually make it useful
  • Significantly improve Siri and rebrand it. Give people the option on whether they want their data shared or not to improve the AI and gain additional features
  • Clean up the iPad line and accessories
  • Sort out pricing for all products, especially upgrade prices on Macs. Stop getting greedy
  • Stop with the incremental updates to iPhones. We want to see innovation and change. Apple have become like Microsoft

Usually when people say that they want it akin to android like features which again, in my opinion, defeats the point of IOS.

Side loading, changing app icons/designs, text color bubbles, changing the homescreen. Basically abandoning uniformity in favor of whatever android calls itself :p (at least what I read from old posts on here)
As an Android user, and someone who will probably never use an iPhone, I agree.

The word you're looking for is "customization." Although iOS does now allow you to change app icons and have homescreen widgets, much beyond that is going to definitely weaken Apple's brand. There's no denying that iOS and the iPhone have a distinctive look and feel that will be undermined if you can sideload any app (thus denying Apple the ability to more closely guarantee it meets certain requirements, doesn't exploit APIs in improper ways, etc.).

Lots of Android apps intentionally exploit certain loopholes in Android—all in good, useful ways, some of which I genuinely use and rely upon—but doing so means that Android has a less uniform feel—and if something breaks, it's probably because of something I did. Google doesn't offer customer support like Apple does.

Introduce iPhone users to stuff like that and you're going to have Apple users expecting Apple to fix their custom home launcher that they sideloaded from some random app store, and then they'll blame Apple when it doesn't work properly (which Apple couldn't have guaranteed would not happen because Apple didn't approve the third party home launcher).

Apple's image will change for the worse once they are forced to sideload.

Hmmm. The list is long, but would settle for;

1. No annoying notches in screens
2. Phones and iPads that sit flat on a table.
3. A return to at least four usb-c ports on the MacBook Pro.
4. Remember that computer OS is NOT phone OS.

You 2 must not be macOS users then due to its poor security, what with the ability to sideload install software from anywhere you can download it.

Mac - a computer that sits on my desk, window to the world with assortment of apps
iPhone - modern day wallet. Has all my financial, health, medical, tickets, credit cards, and more.

So yes, macOS my be secure but not secure enough for the job of being the all encompassing wallet.

Would I want iOS to be less secure becuase macOS is less secure - no.
Would I like an option to make macOS more secure - yes please.
Would I want either of them to devolve into a less secure operating system - no.
Is Google doing a ton of work to make Android more secure - yes.

There's a pattern here

New Apple TV. I’m in the market for one, but I don’t want to buy the current model with a new one potentially on the horizon

I'd like something akin to iMovie/GarageBand but for the maker space.

A CAD app that can be used for knocking out 3D prints in the way the other iWork-type apps make it possible to generate print/media content.

It would be great if it could seamlessly incorporate your phone's camera/lidar to import data.

They don't even have to start from scratch, using something like Shapr3D as a start would be good - but none of that monthly subscription nonsense. You can do all this now, but it requires bouncing between a handful of apps, and some are only available at the hobbyist level if you don't make money. Something that was useful for the hobbyist or small business maker would be great.
For artistic modelling they’d probably be better off making some suitable Blender plugins for functional integration and maybe UI patches to make it more compliant with the Apple interface guidelines.

For functional parts it would make sense to work with one of the existing CAD companies so that they get a full parametric system with FEA and so on, and the professional market is used to fairly narrow and specific hardware requirements, while apple certainly has enough money to convince Autodesk or Dassault Systemes to listen to them. If they wanted to be cheap they could probably pay Autodesk to make fusion suck less, but a professional-quality system would be a good way to sell Mx Ultras.

What do you expect a new model to do though? I have two, one is the original 4K one that runs on the A10, and the other is the latest. The only reason I upgraded the old one was because I wanted one in the bedroom, so it went in the bedroom. But other than that there is nothing in the new one that I care about really.

macOS remembering all my desktops for my dual monitor setup and placing the correct application windows in the correct spots before going to sleep.
On that note, having the option to not merge all the visible windows into the current Space when removing external monitors, rather than keeping them as separate spaces in the list.

I really like that idea. The spaces are like virtual monitors, so it should just extend that into a connected monitor if you plug in one.

Apple to keep up with standards and their own advances across the board.
Like thunderbolt 4 and wifi7, and not only on a couple devices, on at least all new pro ones.
The same with apps, if they update to some new standard all the apps should be updated.

Dare I say it. Siri.
👍🏼

My most recent interaction with Siri, last night:

"Siri, play some music" and Siri proceeds to play some complete crap that isn't my thing...

"Siri, that song is really bad"

*long pause" "OK, I've added it to your library" *song keeps playing* 🤦‍♂️

Split classic iTunes with local libraries from Apple Music service, and fix both. Right now every single version of Apple Music make UI worse, bugs sitting on top of bugs. It feels like the UX is degraded on purpose as if they just want everyone to abandon using their own purchased and ripped music.

Last Friday, we shared our annual What to Expect Guide that covers everything we're expecting to see from Apple in 2024, based on current rumors and historical product release information.

What-to-Expect-from-Apple-in-2024-Feature-2.jpg

We're going to see the launch of the Vision Pro early in the year, followed by new OLED iPad Pro models, a new version of the AirPods, an iPad Air in a new size, an Apple Watch that has blood pressure monitoring and sleep detection, and of course, refreshed iPhone 16 models with a host of new features.

While we know what we're expecting to see from Apple in 2024, we want to hear from the MacRumors community. What are you hoping to see Apple release this year?

Are you looking forward to generative AI? Crossing your fingers for new iPhone features? What would you like to see in iOS 18? Will you buy Apple's Vision Pro headset?

Let us know your thoughts in the comments, and take a look at our What to Expect Guide to see an overview of the current rumors. We'll be hearing a lot more about Apple's 2024 product plans in the coming months, and we'll have in-depth coverage at MacRumors.com.

Would like to see more colours in the different products. Will be nice to have iPad Pro and MacBook Pro in at least one other colour. Hopefully Apple will decide to have brighter colours for the iPhone 16 models. The colours of the 15 are too light.
