FaceTime (and video in general) on the watch. Really don't understand why we're 10 years into the life of this product and it's still not available.

Same thing I wanted last year and the year before.

DeX mode on iPhone Pro (presumably based on Stage Manager) and a new Apple display with Pro Motion and HDR to connect it to.

I want my iPhone to become my computer computer.
It seems evident the future of computing will see the ability to plug in our phones to a monitor and have it become a desktop. While also being able to use it as a phone. And I am so down for that.

Forgot the bloody magsafe. Both in phones and laptops, just kill it. In phones it takes up space, space that should be used for the battery. And for laptops, at least make the usb-c to usb-c cable the default or a free alternative option.
I agree on the iPhone; ditch the inefficient and resource sucking magsafe. But not on the MacBooks where it (a) doesn't use the same wasteful/inefficient charging mechanism and (b) is a very nice port saving feature. That breakaway charging cable has saved my MacBooks countless times over the years.

What I want to see….

iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 unifying the A12 Bionic and higher and ditching the A10 (7th Gen iPad)

MacOS 16 ditching 2018 MacBook Pro/Mac Mini and 2017 iMac Pro ( and maybe 2019 iMac)

tvOS 19 finally ditching the Apple TV HD ( and maybe the A10X Version for the lineup to be A12 or later like iOS/iPadOS 19 but maybe unlikely)

watchOS 12 I believe Apple will support the same watch’s as watchOS 11 ( this I don’t care about because I never ever owned an Apple Watch)

Bonus. Please Apple make the SE4’s features, attractiveness and price point in a way that is similar to the OG SE when that came out that makes this SE4 to the iPhone 15 for me like the OG SE was to the iPhone 6 in terms of support
Why ditch devices that are still capable like the Apple TV older models? If the software and apps still work fine why create the e-waste? I’d like to see two more years of Intel support before my maxed out 2019 15inch becomes a problem child.

Yeah they don’t support newer features by why kill a product that is working and doing its job just fine? All it does is cost users more and pad apples bottom line.

Based on rumors and historical product release information, 2025 is going to be an exciting year for Apple. As we outlined in our annual What to Expect Guide, Apple is redesigning the iPhone, jumping into new smart home tech, and preparing to launch new Apple-designed chips.

Apple-2025-Thumb-1.jpg

Early in the year, we're expecting to get the iPhone SE 4, a low-cost iPad, M4 MacBook Air models, and a new iPad Air, then later, we'll get a new smart home "Command Center," a whole new iPhone 17 lineup, new Apple Watch models, the Mac Pro and Mac Studio, plus a bunch more.

While we know what's likely to launch based on rumors and past release information, we want to hear from the MacRumors community. What are you hoping to see Apple release this year?

iOS 19 I want to be stable and focused on bug fixing

What I want and not necessarily what makes sense for Apple?

Hardware:
- iPhone Pro Nano (4”) with home button and Touch ID (maybe while also keeping swipe up from bottom and Face ID as options), and MagSafe contact charging instead of induction
- 16” MacBook Pro with drawing display and convertible form factor (preferably something like Surface Laptop Studio or Acer ConceptD Ezel). Also 13” MacBook Air version of same form factor
- iPad Nano (easy to grab and hold with one hand)
- AirPods Pro in Beats Flex form factor
- directional speaker/bone induction headphones
- AirPods Max with hi-res lossless audio and wired mode (for zero lag and low battery)
- ATV remote with small speaker (for locating)
- ATV mic for karaoke
- AirPlay HDMI stick
- HomePods with wired in (dumb speaker) support

Software:
- visionOS Mac virtual/physical display hybrid mode (for digital drawing)
- visionOS scan items to manually add to occlusion in environments (assuming the tech is feasible)
- iPadOS iPhone remote app
- iPadOS/iOS easy way to manually keep specific apps and browser tabs from reloading in background, with a visual indicator
- iOS more landscape orientation support
- CarPlay able to receive AirPlay video while car is parked
- CarPlay/Maps with ABRP functionality
- automatic wireless local selective sync between Mac/iPad/iPhone devices

SUPER LATE EDIT (I happened to see this post months later and realized I forgot a couple things)-

Hardware:
- Apple Smartband

Software:
- tvOS hand off video to/from and mirror video to other devices
- setting or shortcut/automation trigger when wearing Apple Watch (or my desired Apple Smartband), iPhone is silent or vibrate, whether or not it is in use
- CarPlay setting to not show upcoming calendar events

I’m probably forgetting more software things.

I want to see HomeOS and TVOS combine into a much stronger and integrated OS system. I've wanted the home app on Apple TV for years now and this might help achieve that goal.
I’d definitely like a home app on ATV, plus some Home widgets in the ATV Home Screen, but not sure it makes sense to merge the OSes.

Fewer “US Only” Features
By that, do you mean if Apple doesn’t release it to the whole world then they shouldn’t release it to only the US either? Like, if we can’t all have it then no one should have it? 😆

How about back to simplicity for the growing number of people that find it impossible to use technology? Like a home phone you pick up and say hello. Instead of a red circle with a phone symbol on the iPhone, have large letters that say HANG UP. Apple tried a 'simple' finder about 25 years ago. All Apple products should have the choice to use a simple user interface. Perhaps even the settings can be adjusted or looked at from a remote Apple product. All tech has stopped thinking simple. An example is MacPaint vs every other drawing/painting software now. Nothing comes close to that simplicity and out of the box usability. Try and find a paint/drawing program now with the patterns and fills that MacPaint had. Try and think how to make things much simpler. Like an icon that says 'hang up' in large enough letters for older people to understand.

How about a simple wrist band that can withstand contact sports that loads your steps/activity so it can load that info to your apple health. I take my $500 Apple Watch off to play hockey so Apple Health app thinks I'm a lazy ass. This wrist band could have a simple display with time, steps or whatever. $99

Why does Apple Home not work with anything I've purchased? Security Cameras, lights etc. Everything seems to work with Google. Also I hope the updates to Siri will actually work. It's easier to look in a paper book encyclopedia sitting 5 rooms away. Also Siri plays the same Christmas music instead of knowing my faves and placing them in once in a while. I think I'll hook up my 5 disk CD player and get the CD's out of the box. Much more control with ease and simplicity.

To see them take TV more seriously and I’m not talking about just TV+. They need to turn the Apple TV app into a true cord cutter’s dream app. Getting more Apple TV channels on board. More sports on board. Integration with Apple News video content. Just making the app as much as a one stop shop for non cable TV solutions as possible. Especially if they have a way to integrate it with Home integration with Apple TV 4K being a smart home hub.

ultraportable MacBook, stable OSes, 5.8" iPhone that has the option for Touch ID, 15GB base storage in iCloud, ability to customize groups/icons on App Library page, allow one to organize all menus alphabetically

Hardware

A 2025 iMac 32" 6K M5 2nm 16GB 256GB with Target Display Mode with a base price of $1,799.

I've had this 2012 iMac 27" Core i7 22nm for over a dozen years.

I want to replace it already with Apple Silicon!

I'll keep this iMac until 2035 then add a Mac mini M15 0.3nm 64GB 1TB.

Software

Apple Aperture for Apple Silicon.

I wouldn't care if it came with a double usb-c cable as default, and clumsy people would have to pay extra. The magsafe cable is useless for anything else besides charging the mac. The cable itself is wasteful.

I can't understand wanting a giant monitor. I have a 27" and I borderline dislike it because I have to look up to see the top of the screen.

Sounds like you need to take advantage of the height adjustability of your monitor and / or seat. For best ergonomics, the top of the monitor should be more or less at eye level, and your forearms parallel to the desk surface.

I don't want to ever have a screen above eye level unless it's a tv, and across the room.

TVs shouldn't be above eye level. There's a whole subreddit dedicated to that :) Given TVs are usually a reasonable distance away, the centre can be level with your eye, allowing your head to be in a neutral / level position (monitors are too close for this to be possible). Besides, LCDs are best viewed on-axis.

The only reason a TV needs to be above eye level is to avoid a fireplace, which for historic reasons are generally already at the focal point of the room. But that's a compromise for aesthetics (and there are ways around it), not something that's inherently desirable.

Which sort-of makes sense until you consider a variety of issues such as how would that work on a Mac mini?

Well, they could worry about 95% of their customers first, then figure out something for the others later.

I suppose a keyboard with a Face ID camera is feasible, but seems unlikely. Or using a phone to provide Face ID.

There's no reason to discontinue TouchID. I'm sure Apple have the resources to support both. TouchID is fine for mini / Studio users, plus the many people who use their laptop in clamshell mode.

It goes without saying that the next Studio Displays should include FaceID. They could even release a standalone webcam that includes it. Though obviously they won't, as they'd rather you spent $1600+ on their display.
